A word from Olio e Limone Ristorante
Olio e Limone Ristorante, located in downtown Santa Barbara's historic arts district, serves artisanal Zagat-rated Italian cuisine. Meaning “oil and lemon” in Italian, their restaurant’s name reflects husband-wife team Alberto and Elaine Morello’s philosophy: rely on the integrity of the ingredients and quality of the preparation to provide Santa Barbara diners “simply sophisticated” Italian cuisine served in an inviting atmosphere with European hospitality. Start with burrata salad or white Mediterranean anchovies, then tuck into a plate of house-made ravioli filled with roasted eggplant and goat cheese, topped with a fresh tomato and basil sauce and shaved ricotta salata. And be sure to take home a bottle of their own olio, an organic extra-virgin olive oil made from Sicilian olive varieties. Private dining in the Cucina Room for up to 40 guests. Bonus: their pizza bar, salumi bar, wine bar and full bar next door at Olio Pizzeria, with private dining for up to 32 guests.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Good Italian/Sicilian restaurant in Santa Barbara but not perfect. Pasta, which is naturally a featured item on the menu, was all slightly overcooked. To be really good pasta must be cooked al dente, and it was kind of soft here. One of the desserts was great, the panna cotta with fig and balsamic but the other, the chocolate banana bread pudding, was undistinguished. However, everything else the four of us was excellent."

  • "What great Italian food! Mushroom Risotto and Duck Ravioli were to die for! Service was very attentive."

  • "Loved this place so much! A healthy pour on the wines, wonderful waiter and outstanding food. We went to the Lark the next night and it paled by comparison."

  • "Olio e Limone has a broad pasta menu, but we chose not to have pasta on this visit. We had caprese salad and prosciutto di parma with pecorino and pear salad. The mozzarella was fresh and soft. Then we had the sea bass special and scallopine di vitello ai funghi e marsala. Both were delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Love this place and wish I lived nearer to it."

  • "Thanks to open table reviewers, I decided to book a reservation here and was not disappointed. I had the Taglioni al Pesto and was very happy. The pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly and the pesto was outstanding. The service was friendly and made great recommendations from the menu. Highly recommended."

  • "Away from the tourist scene. This is an excellent restaurant with exquisite food. I loved the osso buco. Excellent service. Silvio, our server, was very helpful and patient. He made excellent recommendations and took the time to chat with us. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Overall a good experience... Probably the best for Italian food in SB. The front dining room is a bit noisy with diners talking. The back room is quiet and generally more pleasant. Service was on par but smiles were rare from the staff. Food was very good and I recommend sharing."

  • "The restaurant has a very pleasant ambience. A nice energy level but not too loud. Menu has a lot of options and the food and service were very good. Will go again the next time we are in Santa Barbara."

  • "One of our favorite restaurants in SB. I try a different starter each time and I am never disappointed. Great entrees, great specials, very good wine list, delicious food."

  • "What a beautiful, elegant restaurant. We met friends here for a meal and were delightfully surprised by the ambiance and quiet surroundings. It was so refreshing to go to a restaurant where you do not have to yell above the music. The meal was exquisite and the service impeccable. Cheers Olio Lemon, well done."

  • "Second only to Downeys, this is the classiest restaurant in SB. Specials always good."

  • "We eat at "Olio" 2 to 3 times a month. One of our favorite SB restaurants. Menu has such a great variety to choose from, that it is hard to pick...some times, I'll have a few appetizers for dinner as their choice of appetizers is phenomenal and I can't get beyond the appetizer section. Try their warm seafood salad, monkfish liver with braised endive (this was a special and not always on the menu) and their white Mediterranean anchovy filets. Good eats"

  • "Beginning with a wonderful Egg Plant soufflé, and both entrees - Osso Boco the Filet Strip - they were cooked to perfection. The Osso Boco reminded me of how my family would make it. This was accompanied by a delicious risotto. A must for anyone liking Italian food. I know that we will be certain to make a reservation on a return visit. "

  • "My husband and I went there for our Anniversary and overall we had a good time. We were a little discouraged at first with our seating arrangement as we were sat very close to two other tables and basically heard every word they were saying but after our first cocktail it no longer bothered us. We were surprised how quiet the overall restaurant was because usually Italian restaurants have music playing and everyone is talking and enjoying themselves. There was no music and it was much like a library where everyone was whispering but maybe it was because the food was so good no one wanted to talk, they were just eating. Everything we had was amazing and we enjoed our first experience."

  • "Olio e Limone is Santa Barbara's most exquisite Italian restaurant. This time, I chose it for my daughter's high school graduation dinner (8 people) and we were not disappointed. The menu is decidedly Italian, highlighting local ingredients and wines. The owners (an Italian-born chef and his hospitable wife) are often on-site or nearby at their adjacent pizzeria and crudo bar."

  • "Our waiters, Stephan & Rafael, made our wonderful lunch quite memorable. The food was expertly prepared and artistically presented, flavors unmatched, and the service impeccable. We even met the owner, Alberto, who was very kind and made us feel genuinely welcome. We will be back as sure as we will recommend to all who ask where the best Sicilian food can be found----Olio E Limone, naturally."

  • "It was my husband's birthday. We wanted to celebrate with a special dinner. We drove up from Ventura. The service , ambiance and food were really wonderful! I'd love to return for lunch sometime. I'm not sure if they have a lunch service, but we could try the Pizza or Tapa places. "

  • "Had an amazing dinner with my wife while enjoying a romantic weekend in Santa Barbara. Great service, great food, great ambiance. I had the seafood risotto with squid's ink. It was amazing. "

  • "I enjoy the Olio e Limone because the food is always perfect for me, as is the service. My friend had not been here for some time so this made a fitting birthday celebration locale. The wine list is extensive but well divided with a good price range for all tastes and pocket books. Food is delivered in ample quantities, always tastefully presented, and served with just the right touches. The service is such that you can be totally spoiled or left alone, depending on your mood. There is a room for private parties, if you are so inclined. I like this ristorante for its food, service, and location. Perfect complement to the Santa Barbara cultural experience. "

  • "It took a while for the waiter to come over. We asked another waiter about an appetizer we saw, he reacted as though we accused him of something. Our waiter finally took our order. He was very aloof like he wanted to be somewhere else. We paid in cash. I was waiting outside for my gf while she stood in line for the barroom. The hostess comes out to me and said "you have not settled your bill" I told her there was $100 and a $20" (that included a 20% tip). So apparently the waiters also steal. Won't go back. There are plenty of other places in SB"

  • "Dear Olio, We've been big fans for a long time. . . even though we're Vegan and Vegetarian (my kids and husband love the pasta, and I generally eat a lot of bread, but enjoy the restaurant). We bring people to your restaurant who eat meat, for special occasions. However, given that it is now a general practice for most fine restaurants to at least have a Vegan option at this point in most foodie cities (NYC, LA, Portland, OR, etc.), given the common knowledge of the connection between meat production and Global Warming, and Olio still doesn't, I don't think I can support it any longer. I was offered a grilled veggie dish as the "only Vegan option," but it wasn't very good, and tasted like the meat cooked on the grill. "

  • "Five of us were gathered for what we would call a very special occasion; the reunion after about 13 years of mother, partner; daughter, son-in law, and grandson. Everyone did agree that it was a memorable experience because the location, food, service and ambiance. We most certainly would return and also recommend to others."

  • "I recommend Olio e Limone for it's consistent creative preparations of classic dishes and the breadth of offerings. You can safely take a person who wants steak, a seafood lover and a pasta prima donna to this restaurant and all will leave sated and fulfilled. My only wish is that the waiters would be more attentive. Water service, plate clearing and the quality and thoughtfulness of the staff is unwavering - but when you want an order or a drink - the head waiters seem a bit short staffed. However, I love the restaurant and it will continue as one of my favorites! "

  • "My husband and I stumbled upon Olio E Limone when looking for a restaurant close to the Granada Theater. We wanted someplace within walking distance. What a find!!!!!! It was very romantic, very European, attentive service and delicious. We arrived a bit before our reserved time so sat in the bar (located next door) and had a terrific timing chatting with the bartender. The small plates available in the bar looked very interesting but we didn't want to spoil our appetite. The only downside was that they were out of Grey Goose (seriously?? how, does that happen???). I still gave it 5 stars."

  • "Overall it was fine and you like dining in near silence on generic-- albeit spectacularly overpriced --italian food served to you by a waiter who doesn't know how to smile, then this place is perfect. However, this is Santa Barbara where restaurant standards are extremely high and I have around a hundred truly great options, whose waiters don't forlornly whisper the specials to the wall behind you then bring you a $30 risotto that looks and tastes like it came from a bag. It was edible, I'm not mad but I don't really feel the need to go back."

  • "Went with friends and all courses were fantastic. We all order different things and tasted all. The seafood appetizer was voted best appetizer as well as the zucchini blossoms. Pasta the Carbonara was voted best then the pasta with the morels and zucchini. Everything was really good, we are true foodies and very critical on quality, this wins for a great meal."

  • "Hard to find a romantic spot as the restaurant is a bit noisy and 2 person tables much too close together. Food is good, imaginative with seasonal items just like in Italy. They also pour a nice glass of wine. "
