  • "Visited Oceanaire in DC late last year at teh recommendation of a colleague. Found the food incredable and the atmosphere a bit stuffy. Visited Oceanaire in Indianapolis and found the atmosphere a bit more hip/less stuffy. Tried the fourth of july special and thought teh filet and crab cake to be bland and ot up to my expectation. My daughter requested holland sole simply grilled and received a portion of very dry fish - tasted OKbut agan not up to expectation. Dinner for two was $150 and not worth the money for either food or atmosphere. Truly enjoyed a meal the next eventing at a competitor around the corner for $50."

  • "We've dined here a few times & always enjoy the fresh seafood & fish. Arriving at 7 pm allowed us to start our meal before the dining room filled up. Pacing on the service was a little slow at the beginning of our meal, but once the staff got their rhythm going everything was fine."

  • "Two recent visits to Oceanaire. Ordered filet steaks each time and they were dissapointing. Prior visit the steak was so sub-standard they offered (without prompting by us) to replace it. This visit two people ordered filet steaks medium rare. They arrived well done. We kept them, but wish they could fix their grilling capability. Last visit they offered a great thick bacon side dish and mac and cheese. Both were great. Both off the menu yesterday. Too bad. The seafood turned out OK. If someone in your dining party prefers steak maybe think of another restaurant. Management was helpful."

  • "This was our first trip to Ocean Aire. We knew the price range and menu before arriving. Loved the online reservation ability. I have to honestly say we have paid much more for meals and were disappointed . This was the first time in a long time that we have experienced a perfect meal from seating , service , food, desert, and bar service. We hate when staff is constantly interrupting . Your staff was attentive, but not overwhelming . The experience at you establishment was incredible and we will be back again."

  • "What a disappointing dinner. We go here every year for our anniversary and this year's food and service left a lot to be desired. They were out of herring - after we asked for some at least three times our waiter told us they were out. We then requested horseradish for the oysters and it took about 20 minutes for that to appear (after one waiter said they had been out of it for three days). My husband ordered the whole snapper and said it was the worst fish he's ever had. Another person and I ordered the copper river salmon - it was just ok. So sad - this used to be my favorite restaurant in Indy."

She thought it was the coolest thing ever! Food was great and our server Brian made her feel like a rockstar! A really great and memorable evening."

It's also evident that great effort has been spent on developing professionalism in how patrons are greeted, acknowledged, and attended to. But then food is not consistent and while one dish can be absolutely superb, the ~$45 sole preparatioin was dried out and inedible. And even a very professionally trained server seemed stretched during the busy period with all tables occupied."

  • "The food was amazing but we were disappointed in our service. We sat with dirty plates on our table much longer than would be expected in a restaurant of this quality. We did not feel our server was very attentive throughout the meal although he was friendly. Based on the overall cost of the meal ($190 before tip) we were very disappointed in the service."

  • "I don't mind paying extra for ambiance or experience but this restaurant provides neither of these. I went in expecting exceptional and overpriced but what I got was pretty good and extremely overpriced. My wife and I are small and don't need large portions but to drop $120.00 and still leave hungry is a little too sophisticated for my pallet. If you are looking for a romantic experience there are several better options to spend your money and get a much better ambiance and leave full."

We had to grab him for some rolls, refills on drinks and to order our dinners. Service improved by the end of our dinner but some of our diners had left (we had a group of 12) because of the slow service. The food was good."

We started our evening at the bar for some cocktails and then dinner. Staffed well at the bar and at dinner. Made the whole evening go well."

  • "We dine at Oceanaire several times per year. So we found ourselves there on Sunday June 8th, 2014 with our sons. We each had a different dish, two appetizers, salads which we split, one side and three desserts. Average price without the tip was 80.00 per person. I found the tuna poke appetizer lacking in flavor. My scallops were not exceptional and not quite plentiful enough. The sauce was simply bland. My two sons and my wife were all very pleased with their dishes. The salads were very good. The sticky toffee pudding was very good as was the key lime pie. The sherbet was good, but the portion size was down. The meal was substantially overpriced. It was really a $200.00 meal not a $300 plus meal."

  • "I had not been to Oceanaire for anything other than a business lunch in about 2 years, but recently went there for a pre-theater dinner because of its proximity to the theater. I should start off by saying our server was excellent and made a wonderful wine recommendation we enjoyed very much. Additionally, the salad course was enjoyable. However, after that the food simply disappointed us on this visit. My fish was overcooked and dry and the enhancement for my dining companion's filet completely overpowered the meat. In short, we were disappointed with the food quality and would have sent our entrees back had we not had theater tickets. At the prices Oceanaire is commanding, it needs to deliver a better product."

  • "It was great we had a very cozy booth. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the fish. The one my boyfriend wanted they were out of but the one she recommended was so good I can't imagine the other one being better. Food was wonderful, as were the drinks. I had a great moscow mule...and that's a rarity. It was a bit noisy at first but quieted down by the time we got to dessert and we got the last one. So it just seems like its better not to have a late reservation like we did because apparently they run out of things but over all wonderful experience, would love to return!"

The diversity of offerings that encompasse a broad price range (relatively budget friendly to more expensive/marketplace driven cost) is really a nice change when compared to other higher-end restaurants. "

  • "While in Afghanistan I planned an evening out to celebrate my return. First stop was the Oceanaire. Upon arriving at the restaurant we were greeted by Ben (Front Manager) who knew why we were there and what we were celebrating. I have never had the pleasure of being a guest of Oceanaire, I was further surprised when we arrived at our table to find a card/menu welcoming me home. Our server (Chase) was extremely knowledgeable in both his understanding of the menu and proper pairing. The Sous Chef (Andy) treated us with a visit as we wished to thank him for the superb preparation/execution of our food (calamari, escargot, tuna, scallops, and truffle fries). Thank you for the wonderful experience the night was truly made more memorable by you."
