Diner Reviews
  • "The 5 of us had four main courses and four appetisers for dinner. All were excellent -- the cauliflower, beef, Grand Feast, fish of the day, lentil soup..... Our server did not write anything down when he took our order but remember every single thing we ordered. He was superb. When we had questions about what the ingredients were in some of the dishes, he was knowledgeable and explained it well. Very impressed with the service. Our dinner was really really good and we will definitely go back. I had lunch there about three weeks earlier. Lunch was just okay. Maybe different chef? Maybe ordered the wrong thing? I loved my dinner but was indifferent about lunch."

  • "We went to Nuba to celebrate a family reunion and were surprised by the live music and belly dancers - all of which was welcome and great."

  • "We chose this restaurant for its vegetarian meals. Although we were not vegetarians, one guest was vegetarian. Her description of her meal was testament to our choice of a restaurant for vegetarians."

  • "Nuba was recommended to me by son and daughter who live in the area , I am from out of town and joined a friend here for dinner. Being our first experience we asked the waiter his suggestions and he was so helpful! We sat at a table on the small patio and it was lovely! The food was superb and the service really made our experience also the wine suggestions were top choice! Will return for sure and also recommend to others. Being able to make a reservation on line was so convenient!"

  • "Accommodating and personable service, where mental notes are kept of your coffee order from previous visits! Dietary restrictions accommodated both by choices on the menu and a willing, knowledgeable staff: thank you! Delighted with the dining experience the first time, and welcomed back with efforts to remember names and order preferences the next: bravo."

  • "Just not worth the tiny portions. $14 for 3 little scallops? Dinner for two including salads and dip type tapas was $60. Ugh for casual dining in super old restaurant"

  • "You wouldn't think you could do much with cauliflower but it is amazingly good. It is a must have!"

  • "The baba ghanouj and manoush were good, however I will not return as the rabbit stew I had for a main meal was bland, plain, and the sauce was the consistency of water. The meat itself was tender."

  • "I really enjoyed the flavouring and presentation of the food at Nuba. We tried the 'La Feast' and it was a wonderfully delicious introduction to a variety of Lebanese dishes. The server was fantastic. Very attentive and helpful when we wanted to know more about a dish. I will definitely go back there!"

  • "Great service, with a quiet atmosphere, though I note we were here on a Monday evening, and fairly early. The food remains the most memorable aspect of the dining experience: Unique flavours and simply delicious. Beautiful presentations, to boot. For someone who feels like something different than the usual along with great taste, this is one of those places."

  • "I made a last minute reservation at Nuba in Kitsilano as I was looking for somewhere to have dinner with my boyfriend that had some healthy options on the menu. I'd visited other Nuba locations before, and loved the Kits location! We had the feast for 2 with the chicken, lamb and prawns, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was presented well, the service was great, and the portions were large but not too large - the perfect size! It was a nice summer evening and the windows were open at the front of the restaurant allowing for an outdoor dining experience. I definitely recommend Nuba!"

  • "We really enjoyed the food at Nuba, but the service from our server (Tristan) was poor. Didn't get side plates for our appy's, someone else had to refill our water, had to ask for the appy plates to be removed from the table once they were empty, didn't get extra napkins after the appy's and appy plates were gone. The other servers seemed much more attentive. I would go back, but would hope that the service levels would be better."

  • "Was perfect for our needs, varied menu(veg option) as an optional well fix menu for all to share. Nice quiet and comfortable table. Will certainly be recommending after our experience."

  • "We came as a group of 9 for lunch and as soon as we sat down, the server was recommending (borderline insisting) that we go with the set menu for the following reasons: 1) Our food will come out at the same time 2) We get to taste many of their menu items 3) Our food will come out at the same time 4) Our food will come out at the same time He neglected to tell us that this set-menu lunch would cost each person $23. We asked if we can view the regular menu instead, and he scoffed at the idea, suggesting we still go with the set menu. Once he brought the regular menus to us, he warned us that he couldn't guarantee that our food would come out at the same time. We ordered our food, and our food came out at the same time. It was alright."

  • "The food was exceptional which is what always brings me back. The service was spotty, had to ask for drink refills quite frequently but she was very polite. Excellent evening overall."

  • "Great service, super well priced (we did the family style 23 dollar per person option which I highly recommend) I love the ambiance of this particular location! Highly recommended! "

  • "We decided to eat at Nuba as I had wanted to try their Lebanese dishes since the Kits location opened. We did not have heaps of time as we had other evening plans. The service was good, and they had our dishes out in good time, though they did not arrive all at the same time. This was not such an issue as we were sharing a few different ones. The food we ordered was mediocre, nothing too special or outstanding, but not terrible either. However, the spicey prawn dish was excellent since the prawns were meaty, juicy, and spiced well. We were there early evening so it was quiet and low-key. The place was neat and tidy, but a little dark."

  • "Went for the first time with friends and liked it so much we went again a week later. My wife had lamb shank and I had the rabbit stew, also for the second time. The lamb shank was dry and my stew was more like a soup. Very little meat and the flavour, though still subtle and unique in my experience, was thinner than I remembered. Different chefs? Chef's having a bad night? Don't know. Disappointing as we though we'd found a new, reliable restaurant close to our home."

  • "We had a group of 10 and were given a table upstairs. It felt like we had our own party room as we were able to move around and chat with each other. The food is so delicious, it was hard to decide and I am a very picky vegetarian. Most people shared dishes and all were very pleased with what they ordered, including drinks. We sat there for 4 hours and were not rushed to get out, even though the restaurant was packed. Great place for a birthday celebration. "

  • "I took my best friend her for her birthday. Turns out she'd already been there twice. The food selection was great and the prices were reasonable. The wait staff was a bit slow, BUT the food came out very quickly. The host was friendly and kept smiling even with the ever increasing guest count in the entrance. "

  • "Nuba was highly recommended so we went with high expectations and in most part it succeed. The appetizers were great and with a deadfrog citrus beer wet our appetite for mains. Mains were disappointing to say the least, the house special rabbit stew tasted great except there was no actual rabbit in the stew we also had the stuffed eggplant but had way to much oil. We will go back for sure but we will order a number of appetizers and forgo the mains. enjoy"

  • "Nuba has a great authentic feel to it. With the high ceilings and tiled floors, it really reminded me of being back in the Middle East. The food was delicious too, with a great variety for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. The only negative of the experience was that our party felt somewhat rushed to finish our meal and leave. Every ten minutes or so, a server would come over and ask if we were finished with our dishes. Eventually they told us that another party was coming soon, and so they needed our table. This confused us because the restaurant was huge and there were many vacant tables around us. All in all, if you're looking for a quick and delicious meal, Nuba is a lovely place to eat."

  • "I was equally impressed with Nuba on my 2nd visit it Nuba. Great food, atmosphere and very friendly helpful staff."

  • "It was the first time dining at this location, the food was tasty as usual, but if you get seated in the upstairs level you probalby won't have the same experience as being part of the main restaurant downstairs. The room seems empty, sad and forgotten, like an old seafood restaurant from the 80's. They definitely need to make it as vibrant as the main room. "

  • "We are frequent visitors to Vancouver. Mediterranean cuisine is lacking in our home town so Nuba scores highly for us. We have had dinner there on our last three visits, the food always tastes fresh, is presented well and is very flavorful."

  • "Was our first time dining at the Kits location, great selection of tapas on the menu, our waitress made some great suggestions. The portions and the promptness while we were being served was great. And the beverage menu is ok, but would recommend the sangria. The restaurant itself is strangely set up and the noise level can be somewhat overwhelming, and the seats in the booth can be uncomfortable."
