A word from Not Your Average Joe's Beverly
What does creative casual cuisine mean? Exactly what it says. We"re creative, because we reject the same-old-same-old in favor of tastes that are interesting and unique. We're casual because while our food may be worth getting dressed up for, we invite you to come as you are. We're all about cuisine in the sense that our chefs apply high standards of culinary art. There it is. Creative. Casual. Cuisine. If it sounds like your kind of place, then you – like us- are not your average Joe.Continued

  • "My friend and I made reservations so we could have dinner before attending a show at the North Shore Music Theater. They had our table all ready for us upon arrival, a very nice corner booth they hold for people with reservations. Our waiter was prompt and attentive and when we remarked that we needed to be out at a certain time to make the show, he told us that the restaurant offers a discount for people going to the theater if they can show their tickets. What a nice surprise. It worked out great and our dinners were very good. "

  • "We LOVE Winesdays on Wednesdays. The food is terrific (balsamic glazed salmon is divine), the wine selections great, and service is always gracious, professional, efficient, excellent. One never waits for bread or the wine order to be taken. Amazing. We love this place--always great food and creative new things happening. Definitely an all-time favorite of ours."

  • "Normally I really enjoy Not Your Average Joes however this time I was rather dissapointed. The menu did not have anything that was a realtively healthy option. Normally there is a healthy fish or chicken option that you can make low carb. Also the menu felt out dated for the change in seasons. In order to come back I would need the menu to be refreshed and updated. My other problem was our service. The server was distracted and didn't notice that we never received silverware until we asked the food runner when our meals came out. I have had a better experience before at this Joes which makes me so surprised at this visit."

  • "We really enjoyed the Wine & Dine tasting prix fixe. Especially the starters (terrific nachos) and desserts! It was also fun having two half-portions of the entrees. The new ricotta/goad cheese cannelloni basil chicken sounded better than it tasted--a bit on the blah side. We prefer the butternut squash cannelloni chicken dish on the regular menu. The wine tasting was very fun--and great wines. Bravo!"

  • "There should be a space under which noise level can be rated deafening. Please read below to see why I could not rate your restaurant better. There has got to be a way for a restaurant to deal with this issue. Other than that, we always enjoy your food, even if the noise level is horrendous. I Know this is hard to control but at a table accross the room was a child who was out of control, screaming like someone was beating him. A dinner guest got up and spoke to the women who's child was behaving so badly. I felt that was the place of the manager to do so, not a patron. It was all I could do to keep my husband from going over and saying to this women, "Thank you for ruining my meal.". Unfortunatly, this is not an isolated incident at NYJ's."

  • "Had a very good time. Place was causal, plenty of family's with young kids. Asian pot stickers were great. My scallops were cooked well, not over done. I was most excited to see that Joe's was serving one of my favorite beers, Peroni. Not alot of restaurants serve it."

  • "I love this restaurant. The food is always fresh and cooked to your liking. It really is not your average every day restaurant meal. There is a upscale look and taste to the meals in a comfortable non-stuffy environment. The Birthday club they have is incredible. FREE meal and dessert for the Birthday person no matter what plate they order theirs is free. I have gone many times for romantic dinners as well as smaller group gathering and the restaurant has always been accommodating to requests for quiet seating or booths.... etc. I highly recommend trying - you will enjoy."

  • "I had a business luncheon with an accociate last Friday. I ordered miso fish. The portion was very small. Three or four bites and it was gone."

  • "The food is delicious, and we have developed some favorites - cheeseburgers, pizza, and chicken enchiladas. The desserts are wonderful and I can always count on a creative alcoholic beverage. The molten chocolate cake is to die for. We love digging into the bread and oil, a comforting starter. The service is great. We've had many different servers, and all are attentive and friendly."

  • "How did we forget about Not Your Average Joes?! It' s a little off the beaten path, but very convenient to Rt. 128. Glad we remembered it was there. Our party of 4 was seated immediately at 7PM on a Sunday night.. The menu is varied and there is something for everyone. The pasta w/ chicken and sausage was hearty and pleasing as was the clam chowder and pizza. The peanut butter thing for dessert was perfect - not too sweet. The service was top notch, attentive but not intrusive. We'll be back"

  • "When I made my reservations I requested a booth towards the back.. When it was time to be seated I was told if I wanted a booth in the back I would have to wait about an additional 15 minutes. I ordered the braised short rib with portobello and shiitake mushroom risotto. When I got my meal I was VERY surprised to see only one rib (boneless). When I broke the rib apart the center was cold in the middle. I did not sent it back because the risotto was hot enough to warm the meat. Manger and server were both great in resolving the problem. (they did not charge for it) The person I was with was their first time and their food was excellent. This will not stop me from going back.. every place can have an off night.. would recommend"

  • "I went to Not Your Average Joe's with a few friends to celebrate my birthday. We did the Winesday Wednesday deal, and the meal and the bottle of wine were both great. It's such an awesome deal! 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $39.99... Can't beat it!"

  • "Very accommodating; good seating (doesn't feel crowded). The atmosphere is lovely. While there are only a few vegetarian options, they are delicious!"

  • "Always come to NYAJ for B-days and Anniversaries. Come as often as possible. Appetizer quantities are enough for a meal with house salad. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent (ask for a table served by Paul). The Chef's creations are not only excellent, they are "consistent." When a favorite is taken off the menu (for who knows why), management listens and corrects the error in judgement."

  • "Ordered the jumbalaya which was very dry and didn't have any flavor to it. Scallops were very good as was the chicken piccata and the Southwest burger was very good. We were not hurried the waitstaff was extremely attentive to our needs. The deserts were great. I was just a bit disappointed in the Jambalaya. Other than that everything. Was as expected."

  • "Wonderful Valentine's Day dinner. The special menu was fun, and the food was delicious. It was great seeing the waitstaff back in black. The cowboy outfits were pretty dreadful, ha, ha."

  • "I'm the only one who liked their meal out of 4 of us (I ordered pistachio crusted haddock). My friend's onion soup had to be returned because it had a burnt taste, her husband's chicken marsala was so-so, and my husband's pork two ways was tough. Moulton chocolate cake was wonderful. I was embarrassed because I love Not Your Average Joe's. I have never had a bad meal. It may be a long while before I get our friends back."

  • "We frequently dine at NYAJ's and lately the quality of the steak tips seems to be a bit less. The taste is still there but they are quite a bit tougher. Use to love them, now I will be switching to your chicken when we dine."

  • "One thing that Joe's has above many other local eateries is that is management is very hand's on. They always seem to be very aware of any problems that arise when you are there, and find a way to make you happy. They surely did that the last time we were there, and continue to have good food at good prices............always a place to go for a meal without a lot of fuss, etc."

  • "Tough to get the server to pay attention. Empty drinks for minutes. Burger was ordered medium rare, came out like it was cooked at Chernobyl. Fried underdone and greasy. My wife's salad was drowned in dressing and had all the white rib parts of the lettuce. Hardly any green. Not going back. Not Your Average Joes is a correct name, because it was not even average."

  • "The food is always delicious here and I love that they are kid-friendly. That's important to me with my often rambunctious 3-year-old. Also, the complimentary bread and olive oil hits the spot."
