Diner Reviews
  • "Improve your dining experience by previewing the menu online. Keep sushi and roll choices to a minimum while going for unique sushi (hamachi with jalapenos) dishes, lobster (and black truffles), uni, wagyu. Martinis are excellent. Sit at the bar, tell the chef what you like - trust his judgement. Enjoy!"

  • "Based on our super first time visit - decided to make NoBu our finel dinner place before heading back to the main land. Once again we were impressed. We asked for the same waiter - who helped us pick different items this time. Again and excellent choice for diddner in Waikki."

  • "Everything was excellent as expected as Nobu's reputation, we're happy finally had the chance to experience it. The servers were all very attentive, we were lucky to have Josh for our table, he is totally awesome, he's super knowledgeable of the menu, pleasant, and professional, what a gem"

  • "The 7-course tasting menu was very enjoyable. Great presentation with quality ingredients however some parts were overly salty."

  • "I dined here with my grandma on a Wednesday night. We both ordered the Omakase (chef's choice) experience, and although it was the most expensive dinner we had all trip, it ended up also bring our favorite! The waiter asked if there were any types of food we couldn't eat, and the chef took that into consideration when planning the 7 courses. Each course was delicious and perfectly portioned. We left feeling satisfied, but not overly stuffed. We recommend this experience and this restaurant to everyone!"

  • "A lot of restaurants that open up other locations are not as good as the flagship but Nobu seems to pull it off fairly well. I think part of the reason is that as long as they manage to get the high quality ingredients a lot of the execution is fairly easy. Had the classic yellowtail w jalapeño and the Miso Black cod and both were great. Had top quality scallops-really scallop flavored which is rare to find even at the best of restaurants like Per Se or Le Bernardin, which they said were sourced from Japan. Had a Truffled panko Lobster special that was not listed on the menu and was fantastic. Seafood soup was really good. I liked our waiter and service was fast but the place was loud, almost crossing the line for me but not quite."

  • "I love this place and it is a must go to when we are in Hawaii! This is the second year we have included this restaurant in our vacation plans. We let our server pick all of our dishes and we loved all of them!! We started with sashimi tuna- delicious! We had a dish that had wagu fliet cooking on hot stones and stuffed crab legs...it was the most amazing dish ever. I believe it was a special but it should be on the menu everyday. I know I am missing a few but it was all wonderful. We ended with a few sushi rolls one even better than the other. We were surprised with macoroons for desert and they were melt in your mouth delicious. Wonderful meal!"

Our Server Joshua was excellent, was able to explain dishes and came u with great recommendations - Codfish / Chicken & Beef Kushiyakis / Wagyu & Salmon Tacos / various Sushi and an excellent "Drunken Cherry Toban" rounded up an excellent Dinner - we will be back"

  • "We had some trouble finding Nobu but once we got there it was all smiles from then on. We are spoiled living in Whistler with some of the best Sushi on the planet, so when I say that Nobu Waikiki was excellent, I mean it.. Service was unmatched from anything that we've tried in the area and the quality was very good. The Nobu style sashimi is to die for! Had the Ma'o shrimp salad with local organic greens twice... Highly recommend it too.. The only thing I would say was a little disappointing was the overall cost of the meal/experience. We just can't shake the cost vs experience.. It is Waikiki though and we will be back.."

  • "With a waiter who dismissed us for looking like we could be his parents, and, since we hadn't been there before, obviously incapable of understanding good sushi, we started our experience with a real downer. Food was just ok, and, since we weren't glitterati, we obviously didn't understand that it was really really good and we were just too rube-ish to understand what good sushi should be. All in all, it appears that Nobu is way way way too impressed with itself-- it's just not that good!"

  • "We came with a party of 9 so we were able to try a large variety of foods but I still felt like there were so many other items that I would like to go back and try. My favorite was the yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno. There was such an excellent balance between the citrus and yellowtail. Then just at the end there is a hint of heat from the jalapeno. Fabulous way to start off the meal. The beef tobanyaki was another spectacular dish that sticks out in my mind. The steak was tender, nice and pink in the center, topped with mushrooms! I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. While the price may not be in everyone's price range, save up because it is well worth it!"

  • "Parties of 2 dining early will be seated along the glass window and in close proximity to other parties next to you. If your looking for a romantic dinner to include neighbors this is the restaurant for you. Service is amazing! They do a great job with keeping your glasses tall and your dishes will be perfectly timed. The food is fresh and outstanding. The service and food is enough to overlook the ambience."

  • "We had a remarkable dinner at Nobu's. We asked the waiter to pick for us noting those type of foods we did not care for. He did an excellent job. The best choices were the yellow fin tuna presentation and the lobster. unlike some other comments we found the service to be outstanding. When we did nt care for a cocktail it was wisked away and replaced with another......."

  • "Must have the yellow tail sashimi. Service was good not great. Wish there was a better explanation of menu from the onset, this would help on deciding what to eat before being asked 30 minutes later and having waiter wait around even longer. Very expensive so be prepared. Restaurant looked great."

  • "We had an OK meal at Nobu, nothing special all a bit much of the same. The oysters were fabulous, but the miso glazed black cod was simply awful. Excellent fish ruined by inept use of seasoning, we noticed the diners either side of us were equally disappointed."

  • "Why a destination restaurant? Amazing service. Always felt like VIP's. Great cocktails. But the food: not enough room to describe all of the amazing dishes. My wife and I have been in the food and wine business since 1983 . This Nobu is the best. Ive been to the three in NYC many times since I lived there for over 65?years. Now living in Kaneohe it's worth the ride. Have the uni tacos!! To die for!!!"

  • "The decor here is very nice, but it feels like there is a lot of hustle and bustle with all the wait staff moving around. There seem to be a lot of servers! Food was good but portions are small so be prepared to order many items."

  • "Celebrated my wife's 5-0 birthday last week and a great dinner at Nobu's. We haven't been there for a while so we had the Omakase. Each dish was creative, tasty and beautifully presented. Some dishes took longer to be served because the kitchen was busy but we were not in a rush. It just made it somewhat uneven flow as the waiter brought out some dishes too soon to prevent delays from the kitchen. Somewhat disappointed with the special birthday dessert as it seemed that they forgot and quickly grabbed a generic pre - made Happy Birthday - Nobu dessert. Overall it was a nice night out with great food and we would go back again."

  • "My nine year old did not get what she ordered despite several reminders so we ended up canceling it at the end. For such a high priced restaurant the waiters seemed so disorganized as seen by my child's lack of attention. Next time, I will send the foodies without us."
