Nicolosi's has been serving authentic southern Italian cuisine in San Diego for over 60 years. Our old country recipes as well as new favorites have made us a local favorite. Come try our housemade Lasagna, our hand made Ravioli or our Sicilian Six-Cheese Mac and Cheese. Our pizza has consistently been voted best in San Diego and you can choose from one of our many traditional or unique combinations. A delicious basket of housemade bread comes with every meal.

  • "Recently, my father was visiting San Diego and wanted to relive an old family dining memory. Growing up, my family and I would patronize this restaurant for some quality Italian Cuisine. This recent visit did not disappoint. Their menu was excellent growing up when they were located in Allied Gardens and just as great today in their new larger, more convenient location in San Carlos! The friendly wait service was second to none. The food was brought to the table in a rather short amount of time. Their intimate bar is a great place to watch a sporting event while savoring a local craft beer or excellent house wine. Will definitely visit in the near future!"

  • "We had several dishes. i do have to say the clams on a half shell (linguine w/red clam sauce) were very good. the chopped clams were tasteless and very chewy...like pencil erasers. out of 3 adults, none of us were pleased enough to come back again. the waitress broke the cork in our wine bottle and said she had done that several times during the night. she blamed the corkscrew because she "is a professional." what does that mean? btw, the corkscrew looked relatively new and seemed just fine. oh well, it is a neighborhood restaurant and gets vibrant business because of that reason."

  • "Salad must have come out of a bag. Bread had no texture. Take a lesson from soluntos bakery for great Italian loaves. Cannoli may be a specialty, but mine was as hard as a lead pipe. Spaghetti sauce was very good as was the service. Although I indicated both in my reservation request and upon arrival it was my companion's birthday, no special acknowledgement was given by the restaurant. Very disappointed."

  • "A gem in San Carlos! Close to home. Good Italian food. Quality of homemade Italian food & portions are on larger side. Couples & family friendly. Servers helpful & friendly. Better location than off Interstate 8. Navajo Rd & Jackson Dr (old Fish Merchant building). Antipasto was flavorful with meats & cheeses, house Chianti delightful & specialty pizza was mouthwatering! Definitely a family favorite. They also offer 'to go'...after a long day at work...what a treat!"

  • "We had a large group of 14 for SDSU family weekend. We made reservations and were well accomadated. They allowed us to all order individually and not do a preset meal which I apprecaited. The service was attentive and not rushed which was nice since it was a busy Friday night. The food was great! We would definitely return next time we are in town!!"

  • "On Father's Day, we had a party of seven and had the worst service I have ever had! I only saw two servers for the entire restaurant. Will definitely NOT take a bigger party there ever again. Had to ask a busboy to find our waitress. Orders were wrong. Had to go find someone to get the bill."

We let them know we were going to have a big party with quite a few small children, and they put us in the perfect location. We did not disturb other guests, but we were able to be our energetic selves. There are a lot of great choices to choose from, and they usually come up with some great specials."

  • "NOT GOOD for groups with children! The atmosphere SEEMS very family friendly. The pizza and salads are excellent. We were in a larger party of family from out of town. There were four kids in our group and we were seated at a table very close to the other tables (barely any room to get in the seats). Our kids all had excellent behavior but there were a lot of older guests who were staring and making comments about kids being there. Plus, the service was very slow. Next time, we'll go to Buca di Beppo."

  • "I have been going to Nicolosi's since I was a kid-in all 3 locations. Our favorite italian restaurant in San Diego. We particularly like the torpedos, thin crust pizza and their mac and cheese. Great waitresses. It is not a romantic place because tables are pretty close but this new location is very nicely done up. Their house Chianti was great. When they almost closed a few years ago we almost cried and so did so many others that they decided to stay open with younger family members."

  • "Great special celebration of restaurant's 60th anniversary. Has a special family restaurant appeal. Prices on a limited special menu (from 1952) were unbelievable: $1.25 for lasagna...but 2012 price for lasagna was $18.00!! That's still a baragain at around 9 dollars per plate where you had to buy 2 plates. And the food was very good. However, I've tasted better, namely Mortony's Pasta House in Vista, California where the red sauce is OUTSTANDING."
