Diner Reviews
  • "When we go to our home on the North shore of Kauai this is our favorite place to eat on the North Shore. We come from the San Francisco area and are spoiled by great food. Finally there is a place worth the money."

  • "A delicious brunch, lovely outdoor atmosphere and a terrific value."

  • "We have been going to this restaurant when we stay on Kauai for the past two years. The food and service are outstanding. It is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's a reliably great place to go to when in Princville on Kauai!"

  • "Excellent food and atmosphere...service was exceptional! Happy to find this just a mile and a half from our condo."

  • "Took my wife there for Valentine's Day dinner... it was cold and raining and had to be seated outside. Normally would be great if the weather cooperated ..... food was good!"

  • "We had early reservations which turned out to be good fortune. There was a long line at 8pm when we left. 4 course pre-fix meal with 3 choices at each course. Wine pairing to match each choice for only$20 more - so $85pp was a deal here on Kauai's north shore. Service was very good as well."

  • "We enjoyed a Sunday Champagne Brunch at The Nanea Restaurant. It is the best option for Sunday brunch in the Princeville area. The food is about average, with a good selection of items for most palettes. Carved meats, an omelets station and several breakfast and lunch items are available. Seating is available both inside and on the patio. The patio is covered for times of uncertain weather. Service ws good and not at all rushed. Two of us enjoyed the brunch, with a couple of glasses of champagne for just $70.00, including tax. Outside seating seemed to be best as the noise level inside was a bit high. The outside seating has the sounds of the nearby waterfall."

  • "We had a great evening here - we all shared a whole fish, which was beautifully cooked and the chef came out and explained his work - made it really special. This is the best place to have a quality meal on the North Shore of Kauai."

  • "Located in the Westin. We sat outside which looks out over the pool. Love the gas tiki torches that light the way. Service was very nice and prompt. Food was okay. The price similar to the other restaurants in the the area."

  • "There are not too many choices of good restaurants on North Shore Kauai and Nanea is great find for those who love good food. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, quality of the food was excellent. We will return to Nanea for sure and will spread the word around."

  • "Our service was very good and the food well prepared and tasty. Indoor and outdoor seating in a lovely Westin courtyard."

  • "food is mediocre and did not meet my expectations for a resort like Westin. Food presentation was fusion Japanese/Hawaiian but taste was bland and not refined. The ahi poke with the wasabi shoyu sauce was satifactory. For those of you who can appreciate japanese flavors and subtleties, this was not even close with the breaded (katsu) mahi mahi overly breaded.Had to pick off the bread to get any taste of the fish. Overly sweet. Pass on the Westin hotel food and go into neighboring Hanalei and eat local fresh organic dishes"

  • "For the second time in a week we returned to Nanea - food and servers are excellent. Short ribs (huge for a short rib, but falls apart in your mouth) and mahi w/grilled prawns and a fruit salsa that disappeared from my partner's plate with lots of smiles. Presentation is half the battle - Nanea does it well."

  • "It was our anniversary and they made it very special for us. Will definitely be back!"

  • "Not only are the tropical drinks excellent, but the fish was great - mahi-mani and ahi both served in creative tropical sauces and appealingly arranged with greens and rice. Inside or outside, the food is the same. Service was attentive and friendly - made a good evening. We continue to visit this place - year after year."

  • "It is really nice place. The steak was good but it was a medium quality steak. I would go back and order other things."

  • "I made reservations in advance and inquired about live music. I was told there would be live music beginning at 6:30pm. We had reservations at 6:00pm. Once we arrived, I asked again about the live music and was told it would start at 6:30pm as promised. The band was to play on a grassy area near the outdoor seating area. I asked again at 7:00pm and was told that the music was running late. You know it is Hawaii. At 8:00pm, the sole musician showed and started setting up in the actually outdoor seating area. This concerned folks sitting at the tables on either side of him. We finally left at 8:15 with never hearing any music. I had hoped to dance a little near the pool, but this was not to happen on this night. Not happy."

  • "Booked this restaurant months ago for Christmas night thru Open Table. They had a set menu of four courses that was $65.00 per person. Never received any notice that there would be a set menu that had NONE of the items that were on the regular menu. Additionally, the main choice of entrees was limited to two types of fish or one of lamb. We inquired if their were additional choices such as a chicken or beef entree, we were told only a vegetarian entree of stuffed tofu. We asked if their was any bread with our meal and were told no. All portions except dessert were small. Food was not good! Not the kind of dining experience that we had in mind for Christmas dinner away with family or any night for that matter even if it was half the price!"

  • "We visited Nanea for a special Christmas Day dinner. The staff were great and in good spirits in spite of having to work on a Holiday. The menu consisted of 5 courses including a sorbet before the main dinner course. We had a choice which was great and also chose the wine pairings which was a good value extra. The only let down was that we sat outside and could hear the Christmas music being played from the restaurant and musak coming from other hotel areas. This spoiled the ambience for us otherwise this would have been 5 stars all the way."

  • "We chose this restaurant because of all the reviews we had heard. It certainly lived up to expectations. The food was very good and served relatively quickly. Sarah was a very nice and attentive waitress."

  • "We stayed at the Westin Princeville Ocean Villas Resort where this restaurant is located. There are only a few really good fine dining spots on the North Shore and this is one of them. Anyone looking for a new and different place to dine and enjoy delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere should make a reservation here for any meal of the day."

  • "Overall food quality (especially given the price) has gone down since my last visit."

  • "I've been here multiple times and enjoy the service and food immensely. Got the tempura ahi off the fresh sheet and it was delicious. ahi was so fresh you didn't even need a knife to cut through it and it was accompanied by a delicious sauce and baby bok choy. love that I can come here multiple times and still look forward to it. great meal and great service."

  • "This was the third time I have gone to Naneas in The Westin Princeville and it continues to be very good. Our server was excellent, our food and drinks very good. The only negative was we had to wait in a very long line to be seated. That was very unnecessary."
