Mr. Peeples is the stylish alternative to the traditional steakhouse and specializes in world fusion seafood and steaks. It was built within the walls of the 1950s era Boy Scout Building, but has been fully updated and redesigned. The walls are accented with graffiti art and a unique lighting design. The culinary team is led by Chefs Pedro Silva and Angel Rios. Peeples features an underground sheik lounge on the basement level, the five star restaurant on the ground level, and event and private dining space on the second story.   • "I was here for restaurant week. The food was excellent. the restaurant is high class and very well decorated. My only problem was our waiter, it was obviously not his day and it showed during our meal. He couldn't care less about us. He would just walk by our table time after time and not even give us a look. Only after we insisted, we could order our food. The rest of the staff was great. I would definitely go back again. just hope we get a different waiter."

  • "We had dinner during restaurant "week" so it may not be entirely representative. It was also our first time visiting Mr. Peeples. However, we found the food to be excellent, the service quick, responsive, and professional (although a bit familiar for our taste) and the restaurant to be interesting and fun. We enjoyed the restaurant week menu and augmented it with some items off the regular menu. We had both steak and seafood and both were high quality and prepared very well. The fried brussels sprouts and carrot cake "twinkies" were stand-outs. All in all, a very good experience. I would definitely go back."

  • "It wasn't BAD, it just wasn't good. The decor was flashy, but cheap. For example: the lighting had plastic accents instead of crystal or glass. I commend the apparent effort, it's just unfortunate the effort fell so far short. If the food was awesome, the surroundings wouldn't have mattered. But the food rated from only from "passable" to "good at best.""

  • "The food was ehhh, service was pretty dismal. It took a very long time to get drinks and between each course. The waiter acted like we were a burden to him for being there. For the price, I would expect a restaurant to have outstanding service and they just dont. Also valet was $8 and they didnt even walk up to my car... I just self parked and then had to pay $8. I wont be going back and will recommend to my friends who have been wanting to check it out, not to bother."

  • "Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Tried them out for restaurant week and they offered a four course menu. I didn't have any complaints on the food. The crab cake had plenty of crab and the salmon with spinach and beans were delicious. Would definitely be back to get them another try."

  • "I went to this restaurant in the hope that I had found a new place for our group to add to our rotation. I thought the food I had was good, but I was disappointed in the size of some of the portions. We ordered from the HRW menu. The crab cakeS(plural) were more like a crab cake bite! The entrees seemed normal size and were very tasty. Dessert also was just a tease. I had a sliver of cheesecake--so thin it could hardly stand up. I suppose this was due to ordering from the HRW menu, but I was checking the place for a regular dining spot & would be embarrassed to take someone there & have the tiny offerings served. We have visited several restaurants during HRW & this is the only place that we felt discriminated about the menu."

  • "I passed by Mr. Peeples several times and finally decided to try it during Houston Restaurant Weeks. Love the décor! The steak was the perfect size and it was tender and juicy with excellent flavor. I'd rate it as one of the best ever. My friend had the crab cake and salmon and also said they were much better than most. Dessert was good but not so great that I am raving about it. The chocolate crunch cake didn't have any crunch and only one raspberry. I already went back for lunch and was just as happy with the pork chop. During dinner the waiter could have been a little warmer before it was time for us to leave a tip. Overall great meal."

I had the lump crab cakes, which were delicious, and the strawberry cheesecake for dessert. I am still thinking about both dishes days later. Our server Stacy was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu."

  • "This was my third visit to this restaurant, first time for brunch. The experience was very pleasant. Food/Service/Ambience all very good. Three small drawbacks that are a bit irritating...they wont seat an incomplete party, the music was so loud at the hostess check-in making it difficult to hear or speak and the chair/booth table combo make it feel like a lower scale restaurant instead of 4 stars with little privacy."

  • "I made a reservation in advance online, the day of the reservation a young women called to confirm, she did not seem very cheerful over the phone. I had a group of 10 excited to have lunch at the new restaurant and to support the HRW, last minute we had two additional join the group for lunch. Once we arrived the restaurant itself was very nicely decorated. When I explained that we had two additional to our group, they were not pleased, they even told me that we would have to go somewhere else. I asked if we could have the group split into 2 tables, they were hesitant but agreed. Overall the HRW menu was good, the wait staff was friendly, the receptionist customer service however needs a lot of work. Not sure if I would go back."

  • "The restaurant has a vibrant and fun art deco interior. Wait staff was attentive but was very talkative & has the tendency to give you a little spit shower. We tried it during Houston restaurant weeks for lunch. This was my 10th restaurant to check. I am self-proclaimed food critic. Who could beat a 3-course menu for only $20! My friend had the poblano soup, pork chop then black magic cake whilst I had the crab cake, mushroom risotto and carrot twinkie. Both soup & pork were good but they gave you the mini 1/3 of the cake. Crab cake had a funky taste since they mixed it w/ some fish, risotto, nothing to write home about. Carrot cake was dry. Other restaurants didn't cut corner on the size, especially dessert!"

  • "I like to be wowed by my food, and the over the top decor when I walked in the door, led me to believe I was in for a treat. The decor was definitely WOW. My sister and I chose the HRW menu since we had not been here before. All the HRW portions were smaller than those around us. The crab cakes (with an "s") was a cake (no "s") and was more the size of ball. the dessert was a sliver of what we saw around us, more like a tasting menu size. I have been to alot of HRW restaurants and expected and received full-sized portions. For everything that was big and over the top in decor, the food lacked in presentation, portion and flavor."

  • "I attended with a few coworkers for lunch and we ate from the Restaurant Week menu. The food was excellent, the starter and dessert portions were a little small, but we figured that was because of restaurant week. Our server continuously mixed up our food, and he reused a to go box from a different dessert that he messed up. The sauce was still all over the box from the previous dessert. He charged us about $12 extra which had we not been paying attention we would not have picked up on. He was very careless. The valet was terrible. We could have walked the 10 yards to my car and left in a minute but it took him ten minutes because he was trying to get a different car started with my key. Which means the cars were not properly locked."
