  • "Service extremely lacking this trip! Lots of empty tables & yet they sat a 4top with a very large man so close to out booth every waiter & patron that tried to pass thru bumped out table! We had a tab over 250.00 for 2 people & our beverage glasses were low to empty multiple times couldn't locate our waiter & he was not coming back very often to check on us! My tea had no ice when it was half full. He was not friendly either! That is my favorite restaurant & last night was a big disappointment! Lobster bisque was very thin last night watery like. Steaks were good 2 sides however were not. Overall the service was the worst part of the night,& like i said it was not very busy at all, lots of empty tables."

  • "Morton's is pretty pricey, and had saved up to take my son out for his birthday. The hostess advised they would make it special. Unfortunately, our server must have been new, because although he was pleasant enough, he did not seem to really know the menu. Chicken Christopher was described as" two chicken breasts ,lightly breaded with the sauce underneath". When I asked him about a particular drink, the answer was "very popular". The hostess gave us a Souvenir menu, and said your server will make sure we remember your birthday...nothing.... Steak was excellent but otherwise, I wouldn't spend that kind of money again. Maybe it was an off night, or maybe we should have gone to the Galleria location."

My wife & I celebrated her b day & had the pleasure of having Annie as our server. The steaks are cook to perfection: season well, juicy, tender, steamed hot. Must ask for Mac & cheese and creamy corn."

Had happy birthday printed out on the menu with her name, provided a free awesome dessert, and took a photo for her. Several people of the management staff came by and wished her a happy birthday. They really did a great job of making her feel special. Would defiantly take others here."

  • "I was in Houston on business and visited the restaurant alone. Not a good idea as their menu is set up for 2 or more. No small portions available. I could have split every part of the meal. Chocolate mousse was essentially chocolate pudding for $11.00. Everything else was delicious but pricey. Waitress Kaitlyn and staff were excellent."

  • "So disapointed with the quality of the food, Mortons used to deliver top quality food for a price. Did Saltgrass steak house take over Mortons while I wasnt looking? Steaks were medeocre, lobsters were inedible. Waiter just plain did not care. Good thing we are in Houston so many other real quality steak houses to go to, Mortons will not even be missed."

  • "Stopped in for a dinner after an early wedding. We needed a nice place and a fantastic dinner to make up for my boyfriend's birthday and Valentine's since we did nothing for those days. After arriving at Vic and Anthony's at 5:00pm and being told we wouldn't get a table until 10:15p (!!) we said lets hit Morton's. Glad we did!! Were seated right away. Lovely decor and the staff were all so prompt and helpful. The Chicago style strip was to die for, as was the Mixed Grill (filet, scallops and shrimp). Everything was delicious and the recommendations from the waiter were much appreciated. We were happy we treated ourselves here!!!"

  • "I have dined at Morton's around the country and frequent steak restaurants in Houston. I decided to give Morton's in Downtown Houston a try because it was conveniently located. The ambience was fine and service was excellent, but then our steak arrived. I ordered the porterhouse for two and was really looking forward to a great meal. The steak was ordered medium rare as I usually order it, but the steak came out burnt. Typically you sear a steak, but this one was burnt. It had no flavor and was not evenly cooked. Some pieces were cooked well while others were rare. I was very disappointed and will not be back to Morton's. The question I do have to ask is why would the manager that cut the steak allow it to be served?"

This time we ate at the Morton's in Downtown Houston before going to a show. The restaurant was very noisy, the food was awful, very salty and overcooked. Our souffles were like a kitchen sponge. Probably will not eat at the Downtown Morton's again. Very bad experience."

  • "I decided to make this trip to Morton's alone as my usual and steady date was out of town. I made the reservation through Open Table and was glad I did. The place was absolutely packed as I expected. I was quickly seated in a booth (all by myself) and Claire was there in no time to get the ball rolling. I have never even remotely had a bad experience at Morton's and it has turned into my favorite neighborhood place to get a quality dinner at the end of the week. There are menu items for almost every diet concern and several times when I've dined there the Chef has sent the server to make sure everything would be perfect. The wine list is both extensive and reasonable. The people behind the bar know what they're doing. Highly recommend."

  • "Took my mom for lunch. . Wine list was great- I had a 9th ribeye lunch special which was HONESTLY probably the worst steak I've had in 10 years. (Note that I have eaten at other Mortons' before and steaks are great) However, my mom had lamb with mint jelly and swore it was great. So I gave it an average 3* rating. French onion and tomato soups both good as well.."

  • "The atmosphere was nice and the service was good, but the food was hit or miss.We ordered the shrimp scampi, which I tasted and it was delicious. I ordered the braised short ribs and scallops. The scallops were cooked perfectly but I must say there was an abundance of horseradish in this dish which was overpowering. I was able to eat the beef but I only ate a few bites of the mash potatoes. We also ordered a side of the twice baked au gratin potatoes which had too much dry mustard and all one could taste is mustard instead of the cheese and cream it simply overpowered the dish."

  • "good for a regular dinner, but def not for a busy holiday (valentine). got stuck in a random room, more like a closet, had a bad waiter that did not introduce himself properly, actually thought he was just the guy that serves water and buses tables. food came out luke warm and appetizer came out after entrees only after we asked about it. totally horrible $10 valet too. crazy busy night and only 2 guys working (only one parking and retrieving cars)"

  • "I was a little disappointed in Morton's. Everything was good but for the price and what you would expect from one of the top steakhouses in the country, I was not impressed. The service was the most disappointing part of the meal. I would expect a restaurant of this caliber to have an experienced and extremely helpful staff. Our waiter was fine but did not know much about the wine list or provide much assistance for food items. In my opinion, Fleming's or Vic & Anthony's are a much better choice when it comes to a high end steakhouse."

  • "We have visited Morton's restaurants in other cities & had great expectations for Morton's Downtown. Visited on a Saturday night prior to a concert at Toyota Center, as this seemed like a great option for a nice dinner pre-concert. Sadly, the quality of their beef is not on par with other Houston steakhouses, and the seasonings were nonexistent. Spinach salad was tasty, the highlight of our meal. Would have given a higher ranking for ambience, but we were seated in front of the waiters' food pickup window & listened to chef/manager shouting out orders during our entire meal. Not the experience we anticipated for a relatively expensive restaurant. We won't be returning."

  • "Had reservation for night of Valentine's day. They were very busy that night, service was slightly slow, but waitress was very good. Had their steak and lobster, and my date had their lobster bisque and a side of veggies. Steak was good, lobster was very good, small portions, which is expected, my dates lobster bisque was mediocre, she said that shes had better. Our dessert was the souffle, and it was our first time, tasted delicious. It's a good place for a date night with wine, they had a very big selection, food was good, expect to pay a lot."

  • "We were there as part of a convention and had a table for 10. The food was excellent. It happened to be Valentines Day so I'm not sure if the restaurant was fuller than normal or just normal. We had made reservations and the wait time was very minimal. The only problem with a large group such as we had was the ability to communicate with everyone but short of having round tables there probably isn't much to be done about that. Overall a very good dining experience."

You would think they would have known this was going to be a busy night, and prepared accordingly! The Mortons in Galleria area is the better of the two."
