First time I went for the high end wine since it was a special occasion. It was excellent, but I'd expect that for $90 a bottle, and didn't expect that high of a price that the waiters don't bring up.
They offer several different "Family wines", so next time in I went for what was described as a table wine. It was nice, but nothing to write home about. . I was shocked though, at the $70 dollar price, which once again the waiter doesn't bring up. You could defiantly see and taste the freshness of high quality ingredients. There is a wide-ranging menu with something for everyone. The wine list is great with some very affordable offerings.
I had the veal and a caprese salad. Both were fantastic.
It's hard to get a reservation on the weekends because it's so small, but it is worth the effort. we went on a weekday and every table was full. Topping off the experience was a singer with a guitar playing old Italian favorites. Absolutely wonderful evening!
Fabulous4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing restaurant all around!Montalcino has quickly become my and my husband's favorite restaurant in Issaquah. The only problem we have is that we didn't discover it sooner! It is a quaint little restaurant where you feel like family from the moment you walk in the door to the moment that you are leaving. The staff is so attentive to their patrons and treat each one as though they are special. The food is absolutely out of this world. The last time I went, there were four of us and every person raved about their dish that night and for several night afterwards. I would highly recommend their homemade gnocchi, lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs for entrees and their starter bruschetta is the best I've ever had anywhere.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite spot to eat!As always, the food was excellent! And I come from an Italian family and grew up on my moms and grandmas Italian food.... Now even though they are gone I can still enjoy excellent authentic Italian food... We love Montalcinos and will go there as much as we can. Every time we dine here it never disappoints, in fact it there is always something new that is amazing. Our table had Sea Bass, Veal Shank, Homemade Pasta, Tortellini, Lobster Ravioli, Chicken and everyone commented to each other it was the best they ever had even the side organic vegetables were great. The ambiance is old world Italian; small, intimate, friendly. The dinner selections are interesting, authentic, and delicious. Everything is fresh! Each presentation is beautiful! The service is excellent; the wait staff personal are professional & helpful. One of the owners greets you at the door! You feel like you matter~not like you are just a customer. We ordered the anti-pasta platter and the lobster cakes to start, which all were amazing, very fresh and perfectly cooked. For dinner, I had the gnocchi, which was delicious. It came in a meat sauce and the dumplings were perfectly moist and cooked. My man orderd the lobster ravioli, which I ate most of. The sauce was decadent and rich and you receive a large lobster tail right on top.

Consistently great five star dishes and I have tried many including their daily specials. I’m in the food business and was recommended to me for the first time by a big player in the food industry and he was 100% correct, We have been back several times. The owner Fernando certainly knows food, wine and how to treat people and likes people to respect the restaurant, he can get a little crazy (so don’t be late for your reservation) which just adds to the great experience. His parents are also great characters along with a Italian singer they have who is quite good.3/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect!Wow! Start to finish. Staff, food, ambiance... everything! We were promptly seated at the time of our reservation and the wait staff immediately began to serve us. The owner stopped by and welcomed us as well. This is a true family operation!
