Diner Reviews
  • "Everything was great, from the food to the service"

  • "My friends and I were there to celebrate a birthday and it was perfect! We went for happy hour which allowed us to try a little bit of everything. Our waitress was very knowledgeable on the menu and drinks and was very attentive to our group. My favorite things were the pumpkin ravioli, watermelon that pizza (the special of the day) and the garlic truffle fries. Their other foods were good too but those 3 things were amazing! The only complaint we had was it was pretty hot inside. Next time we'll have to try sitting outside and hopefully a breeze could keep us cool."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed the dining experience. The outdoor seating is the way to go, especially with the nice Hawaiian breeze. All four food choices (shrimp appetizer, arugula salad, butternut squash flatbread, and brussel sprouts) were excellent. Okay wine selection (a few nice ones to choose from) but nice drink selection. Our server, Audrey, made it a fun evening. The live music on the patio was a nice touch."

  • "On our first night in town, we saw a long wait line. On our second day we ran I to an employee at an Apple store who highly recommended Monkeypod when he found out where we were staying. Another fellow vacationer raved about her family's dining experience. Our meal was excellent and getting a reservation thru OpenTable could not have been easier!!"

  • "The good: made a reservation and were seated right away. The Saimen was quite good. Staff seemed friendly. The not so good: Price. I do realize that everything is more expensive here but $12.50 for a mai tai was too much for what it was. We also had the fish & chips but there were only 3 small pieces and the fries were small. Oh and it was $22 which also seemed a bit much for what it was. In addition we thought the place was a bit too loud, and a bit too dark."

  • "Had my Birthday Dinner here and as soon as I checked in until we left, they acknowledge my special day. Service and food was outstanding and I intend to tell everyone I know how much I enjoyed my experience at the Monkeypod Kitchen!"

  • "Always terrific food and service. I have never been disappointed by the menu selections or the performance of the staff. Thankfully the live music, for the first time, was regulated to an appropriate volume that enhanced the dining experience. If you are either visiting or live on Oahu, Monkeypod Kitchen is worth the drive to KoOlina for an outstanding eating adventure."

  • "Best Banana Cream pie on the island! We loved the wood fired pizza and great keiki choices. We had a table outside to enjoy the soft breeze, sunset and live band. Our server was so friendly and personable Would definitely return!"

  • "Hands down this is my new favorite place to eat. No A/C but honestly it isn't necessary. You're next to the ocean & the atmosphere there is so relaxing. We had amazing service from Joshua. Will definitely be back there again soon."

  • "If you want a restaurant with the Hawaiian flavor and vacation experience you have to eat at the Monkeypod. Local Style live music, beautiful green landscape, outstanding service and savory food it's an overall excellent Dineing experience. We drove 1/2 hour from Eastside Oahu and was worth the drive. I celebrated my birthday and was treated to homemade Lilikoi pie, "Broke da mouth!" We had pull apart pork, turkey burgers and plantation ice teas and I can't wait to come back and try something else. We had a great time! Thank you"

  • "I think the employees make the experience good or bad. And this was bad. Although we had reservation we waited about 15 minutes. Went to bar and bartender was rude. Had requested outdoor seating in our reservation and although there were open tables they sat us inside saying it was too busy. But then they sat ither people out there. Food was ok although Pizza was cold. It took forever to get service and waitress was obviously not into it."

  • "Food was very bland, purchased a $20 poke tacos and were tasteless, have had these at other restaurants and loved them but the ones at monkey pod were nothing to be remembered. Fish sandwhich was also tasteless. We saw out server complain behind other guests backs so who knows what she was saying about us. The restaurant is very Nicley decorated and the front desk girl was very nice. Won't be coming back here on our next visit."

  • "From the time we arrived to the end of our meal, the staff was friendly, attentive and most helpful. The food was very very good. We ordered the pupus: Garlic Truffle Fries, Pumpkinpatch Ravioli, Shrimp and Hamakua Mushroom pizza. Pizza was so delectable that we ordered another one! Definitely will be back."

  • "kale salad was very good. so was my husband's cornbread. Noise level was alarmingly disruptive to our meal. Maybe if we were younger folks we would not have minded. My husband's steak left him still hungry when meal was over. I ordered a raw poke platter and had to shove it his way to attempt to fill the void. Crowd was intense and the parking was nada, zero, allahs. Service excellent, food, small portions for the price. Not a good place to celebrate our anniversary for sure"

  • "Birthday dinner for my daughter- great service, seated right away with our 700pm reservation, nice table, great live music, appetizers came out quickly and tasted great (can never go wrong with pumpkin patch ravioli!) and our entrees came out in a timely manner as well. Overall wonderful night."

  • "Early dinner, arrived at 615, great table upstairs near open air wall with green belt view. Excellent beer selection and menu has enough variety to satisfy all types. Overall, a nice place away from the resorts."

  • "Everything about this place is great. Our waitress was very nice and kept our drinks full. I ordered the lobster and mushroom pizza, soooooo delicious! We sat next to the stage entertainment. Even though the music was loud, we didn't mind having to speak louder. Great environment and surrounding."

  • "Our recent brunch found one of us liking the food and wanting to return and the other not. Cocktail was not as ordered and not offered to be replaced or fixed once an inquiry was made by the server. Manager presence but servers don't have the training a Merriman's restaurant would infer they should have."

  • "Monkeypod in Ko Olina is a gem in the middle of a great resort area. They have a great menu with plenty of local flair, and a great mix of food to satisfy everyone's tastes, and an excellent wine and beer selection. On the night we went, we were lucky enough to have a great server named Oy (or Oi), and he was energetic, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was also fantastic. From mahi mahi, to steak, to pizzas, everything was fantastic. We had plans to go to Roy's Steakhouse but could not get in until 815, which was too late. In asking the reservationist, I wanted to split into two tables of four for our two families, but was told that "it was against their policy". Their loss, as I quickly made reservations for Monkeypod!"

  • "The stuffed ravioli appetizer was delicious! Our entree's were not very good, though. And, our server was neglectful.... She did not check on us very much. The live music was fabulous, and I bought some beautiful candle holders from their gift shop."

  • "I liked the freshness of the ahi. It was like eating butter! I liked the crunchiness and amount of veggies that were included with my dish. The wasabi mashed potatoes were new to me and it was awesomely hot!"

  • "Our server Sophia and her helpers were great! We ordered the usual pumpkin patch ravioli and the hummus appetizers and as usual loved them so much we re-ordered more. They were able to get it to us before our dinner orders were out. Everyone enjoyed their dinners and I ordered the consistently awesome macadamia nut crusted mahimahi. Sooo...good!"

  • "We got there early, and they gave us a buzzer and said our table wouldn't be ready until our reserved time. It went slightly passed our reserved time, but they were busy. Got the perfect table upstairs on the edge watching the sunset. Our server was great all night. She was all the things you expect from a server, but just an extra polite sweetness that wasn't faked. Got shrimp appetizer in gumbo and cornbread. She got a noodle dish, I got the lobster portobello pizza. All 3 were great. A few cocktails and a bottle of wine. We spent a lot of time savoring and watching the changing view of the sunset. Desert was the best part with the passion fruit (Liliko'i) pie. Walked the train tracks afterword (we were tipsy). Made for a great date."

  • "This is the second time that I had to send food back in as many visits. I had to send my burger back because it was overcooked. I asked for my burger to be cooked medium-rare, but when my burger came it was well-done. The waitress did her best to pitch me a line about the special meat that the restaurant uses, fat content, etc, but her argument was invalidated by a family member sitting across from me who's burger was perfectly cooked. The manager eventually came by and had my burger replaced with a new one, which was also overcooked, but by that point I just wanted to eat. I really like this restaurant, but I am very discouraged. It seems that some of the cooking staff is either getting complacent, or they just don't care."
