The design of Mistral is both elegant and casual, resonating with the ambiance of Provence as arched floor to ceiling windows drench the room with light.
Mistral’s dramatic dining room serves dinner nightly and Sunday Brunch. In our bar and comfortable lounge area we also offer craft cocktails and fine wines to compliment Chef Mammano’s menu.
Mistral’s private dining room, Le Salon du Mistral, accommodates 60 seated and up to 80 guests for a reception.

  • "As we live in the South End neighborhood we have many options for restaurants but we have been wanting to try Mistral for a while. I'm glad we tried it but not sure I'd go back. Food was good but was disappointed that it was "just good" given the price point. There are so many excellent restaurants in South End that my expectations for Mistral were quite high -- maybe if we hadn't experienced some of the other (better) restaurants we wouldn't have been disappointed by the just okay unimaginative food."

  • "A perfect night, outside under the stars with an exceptional menu and attentive and knowledgable waiter. We've eaten at many great restaurants around the world and Mistral makes our top recommended list. Inventive combinations that play across the palate. And did I mention the cocktails? Their scotch drink was amazing. And the suggested wine was perfect with both of our dishes. Not inexpensive, but well worth it for a special night."

  • "The occasion was a 30th anniversary and Mistral turned out to be a perfect venue for that special occasion. The food was excellent, service by Natalie very personable and informative, and the restaurant topped off our meal with a complimentary sherbert dish to celebrate our night. We both had fish dishes--cod and soft shell crabs--and they were excellent as were the escargot and Crab ravioli appetizers. We understood afterwards why Mistral has been a Boston mainstay for 17 years."

  • "This is my go-to place when my sister and I meet in Boston for the day. We start off with a great brunch at Mistral and head out shopping on Newbury St. I have a 7-year-old son and she has a teenage daughter. They both also love this place. The waiters always treat the kids kindly and let my little guy have one pancake instead of making him get an oversized dish he won't eat. Love that. Plus the home fries and breakfast muffins are delicious!"

  • "The restaurant service, food quality and staff are all very good. The cornish game hen and duck were excellent. Also, pasta special also excellent. First time at this restuarant but can see that it's a well run operation. Only thing lacking is that there is nothing "Boston" about it. Mistral could be a restaurant in any City, which is not a bad thing because it would be one of the better restaurants in any city. However, if you're from out of town and want something with a more local feel, this may not be the best choice."

  • "Mistral continues to provide an excellent dining experience. I always tell myself I'll try new appetizers but I can never resist the crab ravioli. The pasta is cooked to perfection and the mix of flavors always leaves me wanting more. The duck entree was superb. It was cooked to crispy perfection which is an absolute must for roast duck (having been disappointed at other venues with a rubbery result). Since I don't eat mushrooms, I asked for a substitute risotto and was accommodated with no problem. I will continue to keep Mistral on my short list of excellent restaurants when you want a great meal and don't mind spending a little extra to get it!!"

  • "We live in Los Angeles but travel to Boston frequently to visit family and friends. We always make it a point to visit Mistral and it never ever disappoints. It's no surprise that this has been one of the best restaurants in the city for many years. If you enjoy high quality French-style cooking you can't find better in the New England area. In my experience only Bouchard in Newport, Rhode Island comes close to matching Mistral."

  • "Amazing Tuna Tartar and the Roast Beef, Mashed Potato Caramelized Onion grilled pizza were both a delicious meld of sweet, salty, unami and textures. The sirloin had real "beef" taste with a perfectly seared salty crust. However, the lobster, white asparagus risotto fell very short. It was watery and crunchy at the same time. Flavors didn't meld at all and was quite disappointing. Our waiter was outstanding...professional and efficient as were his assistants. We would come back."

  • "Our reservation was honored on time - the greeting by the staff was exceptional - we were seated at a nice table for two beautifully arranged with sparkling glasses. The wait staff was attentive without being oppressive. The wine and drink list was extensive and well chosen. I had the special pasta appetizer which had the most delicious mushroom sauce. - the rack of lamb with two large double chops done to perfection was the best I ever had. Dessert and coffee topped off a wonderful dining experience. I highly reccommend Mistral."

  • "Food was amazing. Fish perfectly cooked and accompaniments delish. Waiter great on wine and food selections, but not as attentive or speedy as we would have wanted. We probably should have told him that we had Pops tickets. But I did tell host who should have given waiter a heads up. I got there early for a 5:30 reservation and although the door was open, they treated me as quite unwelcome for 15 minutes or so. But food made up for it. Perfection and delicious flavored. I would go back. "

  • "We finally made it to Mistral after all the good reviews and having loved every morsel of the more casual fare found at Teatro. The atmosphere at Mistral is elegant in a cosmopolitan/civilized sort of way. Lighting is perfect. There is a lively buzz that is not too loud for conversation. The halibut was neither perfectly moist nor overdone. It was meaty and certainly good enough, but the lobster/asparagus risotto tipped it over the edge to make it great. The tenderloin was close to perfect, as were those horseradish mashed potatoes. With drinks,we started with the mushroom flatbread, which turned out to be the star of the evening. Crisp and flavored to perfection. ...that and a glass of good wine could be the perfect meal."

  • "I had to been to Mistral before but tonight, their food and service was not as good as I had experience before. Our server was rather slow and none of us were entirely happy with our meals that we had enjoyed there before. To be fair I would say this isn't a typical experience! We aren't picky eaters but everything lacked "something" for this visit. I would still recommend this place, and they did bring us desserts for our friends to enjoy for their birthday."

The wine list has lots of variation, and the atmosphere is simple and open, not stuffy, and the service is also excellent. We have eaten at dozens of top rated restaurants in Boston during our years of visiting our daughters at B.C., and Mistral is one of our top choices. We always have a great time, start to finish. "

  • "Although its dining room is just a tad noisy for optimal comfort, Mistral offers opulent, beautifully prepared French cuisine accompanied by a solid, high-end wine list. The service at every level (including the valet parking) is both warm and professional, and pacing is efficient without feeling rushed. The bronzino and Dover sole entrees were exceptional. (My benchmark for Dover Sole is the classic version offered at London's Rules of Covent Garden; Mistral's was superior.) The dessert "pizza" is a revelation and not to be missed - nor is the lush, earthy mushroom risotto available as a side dish large enough to be shared by the table. Mistral's prices are bracingly high, but the experience justifies the expense. "

  • "We went to Mistral on a Thursday. It was very busy for a weeknight. We had a reservation and were seated quickly by a courteous hostess who also hung our coats for us and made us comfortable. Our waiter made honest recommendations about the food and was knowledgeable about the wine list. Our food came out at a perfect pace. The presentation was attractive and the food was excellent-cooked perfectly and uniquely (the half chicken was excellent). We liked the unique decor of the restaurant, it was clean and well kept, bathrooms too. We will make sure we have time to get a drink at the bar next time-great ambiance. The staff was also well groomed and professional. We enjoyed the evening and will go back next time we visit Boston. "

  • "The first course crab ravioli was excellent, as was the chocolate sorbet. I liked the "whole roasted half duck," but my partner found it gamey. The halibut was a big disapointment; we know it comes from the Pacific, but we have found much fresher haliburt in the Boston area. Also, the waiter was not very professional, although we understand that this may be what Mistral wants--and most diners want."
