Diner Reviews
  • "The food was good, not very good, flavorful but service was slow. Loooong gaps in between. There were times that we could not get anyone's attention. There were two couples in our party, 4 people, we asked for separate checks from the beginning as to keep it easy, and we were informed that they won't separate the checks. After a few rounds of drinks, we had to manually split the bill in the dimly lit room. Big faux pas on their part. I won't go again, and I'll make sure I tell all my friends about this. We're not talking petty change on splitting, the other couple's bill was more that $125 more than mine, it was fair to not split the bill in half. An upscale rest. should have a nice Micros system would make some customers happy"

  • "It was my sons 30th birthday. Requested not to be seated in middle of room. That's where they seated us. My daughter had a hair in her salmon and I requested days in advance a cake be made. No cake. Food fair. Very expensive. Very loud. No compensation for the lack of service."

  • "Pretty simple - Excellent food with good choice and great service. I appreciate not being interrupted by the service staff every 10 mins as seems to be the practice at many restaurants. Nothing negative to say - we will be back for the fine dinning experience that is the Mill Pond! Oh and enjoyed the entertainment as well!"

  • "I've heard there are nice views, but we dined at night, so I can't comment on that. The spicy salmon roll was good. My sesame crusted tuna was excellent. My hubby ordered roasted shrimp which he said was also excellent. Service was polite and very attentive. For the first half of our meal, there were a few loud groups around us, so this would not seem like a great spot for a quiet, romantic dinner. The portions were large (not huge) and just a little pricier than our typical. We will be back."

  • "This restaurant is great. Out fo the gate the hostess and the gentlemen seating us was sincerely friendly. You could tell they care. When we were going up the stairs even the bus boy said good evening. The menu is extensive. The sushi is top notch, and I eat a lot of sushi. My wife and I ordered off the special's menu but we want to go back to eat off the regular menu because it all looked great. Overall, this place is can't miss!"

  • "VERY ROMANTIC RESTAURANT OVER LOOKING THE BAY, THE SERVICE AS WELL AS THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING.I WOULD SAY THE MUSSELS ARE THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD, The staff was very attentive and I would go there again."

  • "Service was slow even though restaurant was not full."

  • "Once again a fabulous time was had complemented by a fabulous meal. The view from the enclosed outdoor area was marvelous as always if a bit on the chilly side. Our steaks were a deep brown color, perfectly cooked and rested. The service, impeccable as any Michelin star rated restaurant out there."

  • "The food came out very quickly like everything had been done already. I asked for no blue cheese in my salad and the request was not honored."

  • "Mill pond used to be much better. Our reservation was 30 mins late. When we were seated, we immediately ordered apps and drinks. Apps came out, but no bread or drinks. No water either. Lobster mac and cheese was so spicy that my wife couldn't eat it. The waiter offered to make my wife a second non spicy version without sausage, which then came out perfect. Clams casino cane out perfect! I ordered skirt steak, which came out medium well done, I ordered medium RARE. The waiter offered to make it again, but we had no time since our babysitter could only stay so long. The second piece of steak was actually burnt and inedible. We would have had dessert, but we were out of time at that point and had to get home."

  • "Food was bland. Bread tasted like it was from the supermarket. The pasta was overlooked and the sauce tasted like a jar of Ragu poured over it. We asked for something without peppers, they said no, it was all premixed! Yuck!"

  • "have been several times, so feel qualified to review...but it's a challenge to love this place, even though I want to. Food is quite good, views lovely, setting and ambience charming Service, when it exists is friendly, but so often it's relatively non-existent. Last experience (not crowded by the way): 3 tables seated AFTER us got menus and drinks while no one even said hello to us. Getting silverware, glassware, additional rounds of drinks, all required several fervent waves...still enjoyed ourselves, but can't imagine the service on a busy day..."

  • "I took my wife on the Sunday after Valentines Day. Not crowded, very little noise. We went after sundown, so it was difficult to see the pond. It was frozen anyway, but the food was fantastic. I had the mahi mahi and the wife had tuna. Service was excellent, mood was just right. But the dessert was the best part of the meal. We shared a NY Cheesecake that was out of this world. They have a baker, but whoever that baker is, he is a genius. And the cost was where we thought it would be. Highly recommend this place, but leave the kids at home."

  • "After reading the reviews I thought this would be a nice romantic place to eat with my wife for valentines day. I was wrong. Our one waiter was nice but that's it. The food took forever! We got our second course before our order course ever came out!! Not going back."

  • "Plain and simple, the place was really good but the patrons that were there were very rude. The restaurant and it's service on the other hand was great. Oh and it was icey that night and valet parking on a hill with a girlfriend with heels was not an easy task. I get it they can not help that because that is there parking situation but the whole drop your car off on a hill that's a 90° angle kind of stinks. Otherwise good food and clean restaurant. The patrons that go there on the other hand were very rude."

  • "I love the Mill Pond - the bar, the music, the views, the old world charm, and especially the food. The service was very fine, but also very friendly. The scallop and shrimp appetizer would have made a wonderful meal - I have not had scallops that tasted as good, or cooked as well, since dining in my mothers kitchen on a fisherman's island on the coast of Maine/Canada . My friend had tuna, which was recommended by our waitress - it was most impressive. I am looking forward to coming back in the daylight, so that I can take in the beautiful setting, while munching away on something wonderful - probably the scallops."

  • "We only started to go to Mill Pond a few years ago. My wife and I are avid foodies, eating out 3x per week at fine restaurants. Mill Pond has become one of our top 3 or 4 restaurants on Long Island. This is due to the fact that the service is always perfect, the food is incredible and the ambience is warm, inviting and comfortable. Rather than recite what we ate, which was all terrific, its better to just say, you must go to Mill Pond if you love great food served perfectly."

  • "WENT FOR LUNCH 1/12/14 BASED ON OPEN TABLE REVIEWS, WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. IF YOU LIKE DINING BY WATER THIS IS A GREAT PLACE FOR YOU. WONDERFUL VIEW OF BAY AND DOZENS OF SWIMMING SWANS. THE FOOD AND SERVICE WERE EXCELLENT AND THE PRICES REASONABLE. NO COMPLLAINTS AT OUR TABLE OF FOUR. I HAD PAPPADELLE BOLOGNESE, MY FAVORITE DISH, IT WAS THE BEST I'VE EVER EATEN. IT EVEN SURPASSED THE PAPPADELLE I HAD AT THE RESTAURANT ON 12TH ST IN MANHATTAN FEATURED ON DINERS DRIVE INS AND DIVES. MY WIFE AND OUR GUESTS HAD STEAK (SKIRT - FILET MIGNON - NY STRIP) ALL THREE WERE COOKED TO PERFECTION AND DEVOURED. WE WILL BE RETURNING WHEN IT GETS WARMER."

  • "My wife and I celebrated a friend's birthday last Sunday with Brunch at the Mill Pond House. Our friends, who have lived in the Huntington/Northport area for 30-some years, had NEVER been to the restaurant before, so we wanted everything to go well. Well it did! The menu was incredible, the service was top notch, the food itself (each of the 4 of us ordered something different) was enjoyed by everyone, the view was stunning and we ended the celebration avowing to come back again."

  • "Food was outstanding. Bread was warm and fresh. Wine was excellent. Porktenderloin cooked to perfection, tender and moist with carmelized applies. Brussell sprouts were stated "sautéed" (which I thought meant lightly browned but to find out they were shredded not very palpable with that presentation. Tuna very good with perfect Japanse vegetables. Portions were voluminous for price. Food could of been served hotter. Basically the order was exactly what we ordered only surprisingly larger than what we anticipated. Staff left you alone to eat and enjoy conversation. Dessert of Tartatufo was excellent cut in quarters with excellent dark chocolate."

  • "We often go to this restaurant for special occasions, but after this past Saturday 1/4/14 I we will never go back. We had 7 pm reservations and our food was thrown at us so quickly that we were out the door before 8 (and then to add insult to indigestion the valet gave us our keys and told us to get the car ourselves.). We had asked for a food item without the sauce, and had to send it back when it came with the sauce, an item described on the menu as spicy Thai flavored came with a sweet sauce. By the time we left the bar area was so crowded the hostess couldn't navigate the room to retrieve our coats."

  • "My Special Someone & I dined at Mill Pond House before heading over to The Vanderbilt Museum for an outdoor Shakespeare performance. We were not disappointed in the least! The view was so pretty & being seated on the outdoor terrace was very romantic. With our bread basket we enjoyed some wine; I had a couple of glasses of Prinz von Hessen Riesling & he had a couple of glasses of "The Pinot Project." For appetizers we selected Caesar Salad & Cheese Board and for dinner I selected File of Sole Roberto & he selected some of the highly recommended Sushi Rolls. The food was very good; the servers didn't make too many appearances but this was actually good as we didn't feel rushed but still got to our show on time. We will come back again!"

  • "Third time dining at the Mill Pond House and our meal did not disappoint. All dished were excellent with service that was attentive but not overbearing. We started off with the raw seafood appetizer - delicious and fresh. The ribeye steak was incredibly tasty and buttery smoothe. The filet was also perfectly prepared. The sushi rolls ordered was delicious and our meal ended with delicious sorbet and coffee. The Mill Pond House is a tried and true restaurant offering excellent food and fine service."

  • "Overall very good. Service was slow though I guess bc fri night was so packed. It took over an hour for our food. Loved my salmon n quinoa - delicious- Greek salad was too small with lots of white lettuce:( our guest loved their selections - susi rolls to start, then calamari, then tuna - my husbands fliet mignon was a bit tough. But overall it was a fine night"

  • "We went to Mill Pond House on a Saturday night at 6. The restaurant was still pretty empty at that time but they put us (2 people) upstairs where there was a big party going on. I understand that it is the holiday season but there was plenty of room in the quiet downstairs dining area. We would have preferred that to the loud chatter and laughter of a party a few feet from where we were trying to have a quiet dinner. The food was delicious (although my husband's steak was quite over-cooked). I also thought it was quite expensive."
