Diner Reviews
  • "You cannot go wrong with Michelangelo's! I've been a regular for many years and the food is consistently fantastic! They could not be nicer people and make everyone feel special!"

  • "Great food. Really enjoyed the appetizer (ravioli) and our fettucine and linguine dishes. It just seems like no one paid much attention to us. The waiter said to just sit down on the patio and he would be right out with menus which didn't happen. It took a long time to order and the meals did not come out very quickly. Maybe it was an off night."

  • "I was completely satisfied with my dinning experience on a casual Saturday night. I took a pretty gal on a dinner date here and after a bottle of wine and some great food, we were beyond satisfied. The service along with the food was outstanding. The only thing I must say that is slightly negative is that its right across from the fire station and on a busy night it can get a little noisy. All in all great date night restaurant and am defiantly going back."

  • "Well, I was a little disappointed in this "Neighborhood Gem" as described by other diners. The restaurant was totally empty at 1 PM on a Tuesday. We ate on the terrace which is nice but the atmosphere was ruined by the proximity to loud accelerating cars driving by on the street. While the service was attentive, the food was bland and rather tasteless."

  • "Michaelangelo Restaurant continues it's long tradition of serving superb Italian food. The owners and staff make you feel like welcomed family. The food is authentic and fresh. Still my #1 favorite! OXO"

  • "It is always nice to see the manager (or is he the owner?) come greet the customers. He is always personable and friendly. There is no other way to make customers feel welcome and comfortable."

  • "The dining experience was spectacular in the aspect of great wine and pasta sselections. I went to Michangelo Ristorante to celebrate anniversary with gf. Gf had rose wine, and i had riesling wine. Both were pretty good. The pasta was pretty good. Our server was very attentive to our needs."

  • "The food was delicious but what really made it for me was the service and genuinely engaged staff - so rare in LA."

  • "Food and service were both excellent. Prices reasonable and there were several bars in walking distance from the restaurante."

  • "This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. What makes it special is that it's family owned and run. And the wait staff are incredibly efficient and nice."

  • "We always find this neighborhood restaurant good and the wait staff exceptionally friendly and efficient. It's a great place for a relaxing summer meal. It's a joy eating there."

  • "I really enjoy the food and it's a great place to get a quick bite. Servers are always pleasant. They have specials for the "happy hour" but the menu is quite complete for a small restaurant. I always have a good experience there and they will often make special requests."

  • "Our new "go to" Italian restaurant!! Absolutely delicious, and very accommodating! We are looking forward to our next visit."

  • "In LA Asian and Mexican cuisine reign supreme. However I have found a classic Italian restaurant that I plan to revisit many times in the near future. Food is authentic, service is extraordinary, the ambience was cozy and intimate. Great place to have a small celebration (it was my birthday), or date night. I highly recommend michaelangelo!!!"

  • "What a great dining experience celebrating our anniversary last Saturday evening. From start to finish, everything was perfect. Waitstaff was very attentive and friendly, and our server was outstanding (he even wished us a happy anniversary, since I had put that on my Open Table reservation). The food was delicious as usual, and we would definitely recommend this fantastic neighborhood Authentic Italian restaurant for anyone wanting to celebrate a special occasion or just the regular night out for dinner. We will definitely be back! Thank you Michelangelos's!"

  • "The Prixe fixe meal was delicious from Primi to dessert. Who would think of a bruscheta with grapes on it. The description did not ring any bells for me but the taste completely won me over. The Italian wedding soup was well executed and of course appropriate for the occasion. The main course a shredded Oso Buco over Pappardelle I am craving right now. Chocolate semifredo Yum. We are never disappointed by their food."

  • "There are a number of Italian restaurants in the area but Michelangelo's is my favorite. On this occasion, I took my employer and his partner (both who have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country, like French Laundry, and some of the best in NYC) and they were both very pleased with the food and the service. Not to say Michelangelo's is on par with French Laundry (never been myself) but my employer is a pretty good judge. That said, Michelangelo's was a favorite of mine prior to this visit. Have been several times and have never been disappointed with the food or the great service."

  • "Food is amazing!!! Both owners (brothers) are so nice and concerned that your food and experience was exceptional. Roco our server was attentive, knew the menu, and such a nice guy. They are lucky to have this guy. When I asked if they had blue cheese olives for a martini and was told no... The next visit was informed as I arrived they know have them for me."

  • "This was our 3rd New Years Eve at Michelangelo's. As before, we had a great meal and a great time. The braccioli was fantastic! My New Year's resolution--visit Michelangelo's more often in 2014!"

  • "My wife and I have been frequenting Michelangelo Ristorante since its inception more than a decade ago. What keeps us coming, besides the great food and ambience, is the extremely personal service. We prefer family-run eateries where we have formed a personal relationship with the owners, and this is almost impossible not to have formed at Michelangelo's. One of the three charming sibling-owners (Tony, Giuseppe, or Maria Stefano) and/or their mother Domenica is there to greet you with a smile, chat with you at your table, and make you feel at home. The rest of the staff, most of whom have been there for years, become like extended family -- as you will as well, if you give Michelangelo's a try."

  • "I studied abroad in Italy for a year, and this is probably the closest I've had to the real thing in the LA area. Brought a date here for a later dinner, and we ended up staying 3 hours. The service was a little slow, but they were clearly busy and the waitstaff were very friendly. Perfect place for a date."

  • "Michelangelo has always been a favorite restaurant, even before they moved to Rowena. However, our most recent experience was hardly a highlight. We waited 45 minutes for our orders and when it finally arrived was not up to this restaurant's usual standard. Additionally, I am well aware that a family restaurant must allow for noise. Unfortunately this can get out of hand when parents allow their children to run around the restaurant and when adults seem to forget they are among other guests and indulge in a screaming laugh fest. i know management can find itself with its hands tied when dealing with sheer rudeness. This endemic in many LA establishments. Yes, we'll return, but may have to check the guest list first!"

  • "Not the most authentic tasting Italian, but it wasn't bad. Pasta, pizza or panini with soup or salad is only $12.95 at lunchtime."

  • "After having eaten at Michaelangelo's several times and each time having had great pasta dishes, I decide to try their fish. And so did my date. MISTAKE! They have no idea how to season or cook fish. Way overcooked!"

  • "One of my favorite restaurants. That said, at one point a waitress yelled at a customer for not tipping. Like chased down and yelled at - made a whole scene. I understand why one would be upset about that, but the whole restaurant does not need to know. Thought a bit unprofessional. Too bad, this place is one of my favorites."

  • "I introduced a friend to this wonderful Italian gem in Silverlake, what a fine evening of wonderful food and atmosphere! Thank you for a great evening, and you have a new customer in my friend! And gluten-free pastas available!"

  • "We have gone there on a fairly regular basis for many years. We have yet to be disappointed. Everything about the place is great."

  • "I've been going to Michelangelo's from its first days in Silverlake village. The owners (2 brothers) are friendly & very fun to talk to. At the same time, they take their food prep very seriously. And why not? Sometimes (or more often than that), their mother is there helping them--she's the inspiration for their menu offerings. So, my meal with an out of town friend last Saturday afternoon was as excellent as I expected. As was the service--we were spending so much time gabbing that we kept forgetting to look at the menu to choose our food. The waiter for our table was gracious & accommodating, understanding that my friend & I really needed to catch up. We did order soon & stayed 2 1/2 hrs! I gave a good tip cuz they were so nice about it."

  • "I won't claim to be a connoisseur of Italian food, but I know I've had much better elsewhere for comparable prices. Perhaps it was just an off night for them..."
    Dined on 7/6/2013
  • "Being our first time at the restaurant we tried to sample the menu. Everything from the pizza we ordered as an appetizer to the salad to the main courses was very good. Each course was vibrant and colorful with surprising and tasty embellishments through out. Only the dessert (we had Tiramisu) was lackluster, more whipped cream than anything else. The coffee and capuchino also did not meet the standards set by the rest of the meal. The service was, for the most part, excellent, and the ambiance (we sat inside) tasteful and comfortable. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to our friends, and hope that the coffees and desserts will soon complement the body of the otherwise fine meal."

  • "As always, excellent food and suburb service. From the moment you walk in, you are treated as an old friend. All your needs are anticipated."

  • "We love Michelangelo, so it was our first choice for a nice casual dinner with some friends on a Tuesday night. And we were pleasantly surprised to discover that not only were all the appetizers 1/2 price, but so were bottles of wine! Excellent food and a beautiful table on the patio made for a perfect evening. Fantastic Italian!!"
