Diner Reviews
  • "I decided to make a reservationbased on a referral from a friend.my wife and I were very glad we did."

  • "Generally a very good meal. My hsuband ordered the fish special and was disappointed that the special fish was not available. They substituted tilapia (with his consent). Although advertised as a white wine sauce with capers and garlic, the dish came with a heavy red sauce that drowned out the fish. My rack of lamb was very good, as was the risotto cake that was served with it. Salads (arugula with parmesan and a beet salad) were excellent."

  • "Best martini I ever had- amalfi? Was the name. Best gnoochis also! Worth the drive from suburbs 1 hr away!!"

  • "We dined at Michaelangelo's on our 40th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. The food was superb, drinks generous, and service perfect. It's a great place for a special occasion. We plan to return!"

  • "Food quality ranged from 4 to 3 star great gnocchi and bread unamazing perline and out of whole wheat pasta. Main issue was well intended but inexperienced waitress who did not know the menu well, mid characterized the specials and was very inefficient. It took 90 min for pasta course to arrive. We may try again."

  • "My wife and I recently went out to Michealangelo's for a night out. We ordered wine, shared the eggplant appetizer and a spinach salad. Dinner was gnocchi for me and my wife had a ricotta pasta. All was expertly prepared and satisfying. The only problem encountered was concerning the cleanliness of the restaurant. Being seated at a table for two next to the wall had us looking at a dirty stained wall which someone needs to clean, makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is. Based on that, would not return."

  • "The Osso bucco was dry and tough in spots. A $35.00 entre should be outstanding. The eggplant terrine appetizer was just an average eggplant parmesan."

  • "We enjoyed our dinners. My wife and her sister have the same birthday so Michaelangelo's was the choice. My sister-in-law previously dined there she said it was good. We ordered specials for the evening. Sole stuffed w/ crab, poorly seasoned, bland, Scallops w/ fettuchini, the best of all. Red meat sauce w/ pasta, mediocre . The best was my miscalculation on a bottle of wine. $100 that was great yet I did not anticipate that price per the wine list. I would recommend this restaurant cautiously, I had concerns regarding the overall experience."

  • "We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and had invited ten members of our wedding party to join us. Everyone raved about the food, the wine list was rich and met all expectations and the service for a large group was excellent. Once we crossed under the bridge and into Little Italy, two people commented that it felt like we were on vacation - with all the lights, the quaint places to eat, the inviting atmosphere. Then pulling into Michaelangelo's we saw the beautiful brick building, were met immediatley by the valet and the experience went perfectly from there. Highly recommend this gem to everyone."

  • "This was the best Italian food I've had in a long time. The wait staff was awesome. I can't remember her name, but she really was knowledgeable. My husband and I took her up on her suggestions, and we weren't disappointed. The food was just amazing!!! Can't say enough good things about this place!!!"

  • "Always have a great experience when dining at Michaelangelo's. The food is fantastic, great wine list and the ambiance is perfect! We have brought several couples with us and all have really enjoyed the experience."

  • "Elegant, upscale Italian dinning in University Circle! Great food, super service! Always consistently good"

  • "Food was just ok. West siders can have equal quality at Stinos or Bruno's. But going to the hill is cool."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "So I ordered the rack of lamb, which tasted like a candy cane with candy cane sugar. I bit one, gave my husband a bite of one, and my son a bite of one. My server asked if I liked the lamb, and I told her it was way, way too sweet and didn't have any lamb taste at all, and it was clearly overcooked. There was no pink at all. She shrugged, asked if I wanted to take it and the overcooked risotto home, I said no. She took it away, never apologized, got a manager, and charged me for it. Our bill was almost 200$ so it's not like I was looking for a free meal with my 70$ wine. My husband and son loved their food, but I don't go back to places with bad service."

  • "We were looking forward to our first dining experience at Michaelangelo's. We had gotten rave reviews from a friend who has given them lots of business. The menu is impressive and sounds delicious. Presentation was nice, flavors well blended and appealing. BUT, it was as if everything had been prepared well in advance and had become dried out and overcooked. One of us had the steak special and gave it rare reviews. It was apparent that our server was having a bad night and wanted to be anywhere but there serving us. Her assistants were lovely and seemed to be overcompensating for her attitude."

  • "This was our second time at Michaelangelo's and will always be at the top of our dining list whenever we visit Cleveland. Food is excellent, particularly the salmon on risotto, which we split as an entree which was perfect. Some of the entrees are on the large size. I could make a meal out of the fresh bread served with dinner. Excellent wine list, ambience, and very friendly staff. Noise level was minimal, as well, a must for my wife and I. You will not be disappointed."

  • "Michaelangelos is a gem. The food is always first rate, the service impeccable. It manages to be both relaxed and upscale at the same time. The specials are usually quite special, often with local herbs and other treats. Recommended as one of Cleveland's absolute bests."

  • "The Best northern Italian in Cleveland. The staff is fantastic. The Chef and owner Michael has put together a Gem!! Assistant manager, John wants and does make your diner a very special event."

  • "Great food in an environment that was great for social intergration. Service was beyond excellent. Would encourage others to venture to Little Italy to experience this treasure."

  • "The table was more than ready when we arrived. Unfortunately the view (only view) was that of the parking lot. The service was only a good. The bread service was only one piece of bread and nobody asked us if wanted more. The food was excellent, however, for just pasta dishes, the portions were a bit small. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience, but could be improved."

  • "Food was pricey. One person had veal and needed a knife to cut it. One person had osso bucco which did not fall off the bone."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "We had a fabulous dinner with wonderful service. The seafood pasta and lobster ravioli were the best I have had. For dessert we had an amazing chocolate peanut butter napoleon. We also had a crème brule that was tasty but did not have enough crunchiness on top. Would definitely come back."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there, recently. The food was fantastic. Stuffed chicken breast and vegetable ravioli arrived at our table hot and looking delectable. Wine choices were extensive and our choosing did not disappoint. Emily our server was attentive and sweet. We will undoubtedly return many times!"

  • "This is a small restaurant that tries to be quite high end. The prices are high end but the food and service don't quite make it. The menu is large for a small restaurant. I don't think they can do it justice on this scale. The wine list is very good. The night we were there there was just one server for all the tables. At times she seemed a bit harried and the service suffered."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "We had the duck which was excellent and the scampi-stuffed ravioli which were outstanding. The service was a little slow and impersonal. We will definitely go back."

  • "This is approximately the sixth time that my wife and I have dined at Michaelangelos and we have never had any negative feelings about this restaurant. It is undoubtably one of the premier restaurants in Cleveland. We come to Cleveland every 3 months to be checked at the Cleveland Clinic and this establishment is our favorite."

  • "We enjoyed the restaurant. All the dishes were good including the salads. It was a little expensive for the non pasta entrees. They have white table cloths which is nice, but they were stained and had crumbs on them which isn't"

  • "While the place was not busy, it took a very long time to have our meal. The food was outstanding while the service was inattentive and slow."

  • "Also, options for half-portions, in order to try numerous dishes. Veal tortellinis with pancetta are just terrific ! Urbanspoon classify the pricey but couldn't say it was that much."

  • "I took my mother to Michaelangelo's for Mother's Day. It was our first time trying this restaurant, and we had had many positive reviews from friends about the food. The food was good. The service was terrible. I do have to say the young lady taking care of our water and bread was great, but our waitress, Cassie, was rude, inattentive, had a poor attitude, and almost felt condescending. Of the two hours we were there, she spent at least an hour of that time at another table conversing with other patrons. Our food took an extrordinarily long time to come to our table, and I was watching tables around us who all got their food in a good amount of time. I am really sad this happened, as I spent a lot of money and wanted a nice time for mom."

  • "Hands down the best Italian fine dining restaurant in Little Italy. NOTE: It's not on the main strip if Little Italy but who cares. All handmade pasta's, fresh ingredients and great wine list. Great for any occasion! I took my Mom for Mother's Day and she loved it! Well done M's!"
