  • "My boyfriend and I tried this place out for Brunch on a rainy morning, and it was great. He LOVED his food. Could not stop raving. I found mine a little too salted, but still good. The pastry basket is a great starter for two. Service was excellent and the ambiance is cute, cozy, country, but slightly posh country. Overall a great experience."

  • "Mica is a very small space, even including the back dining area where we sat. There is apparently a back deck area being prepared which will probably double the number of seats in good weather. Hopefully the kitchen will be prepared for that; at brunch, it took a while for food to show up (though excellent drinks were served promptly, with very friendly service - I loved that Bloody Mary!). Once served, we were impressed - the eggs Benedict on thyme-scented biscuit were perfect, as were the mushroom frittata and spaghetti carbonara with fried egg, and the "doughnuts" (really more beignets) were fluffy and delicious. Dinner is a more ambitious menu, and based on our brunch experience we plan to try it as soon as possible. Great service, too."

  • "Here's the thing - it only takes 20 minutes to get into the city from Chestnut Hill. Knowing that, there are much better options downtown that will serve creative, delicious food and make you enjoy your overall dining experience far more. Although we were trying to come in to celebrate a casual date night out, the service was too casual (i.e. totally forgot about us at some points) and the food was more focused on being interesting than being tasty. Top that off with an expensive bill that didn't match the experience, and I would say you are better off with a short drive than spending your time here. Just my two cents..."

  • "This was our 1st time here and we loved every moment of it. The staff was very friendly and most informative. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. It is a very small place ~ quite beautiful decor ~ but never for a minute did we ever feel rushed. It is very simply a charming restaurant. We started with a pastry basket of homemade deliciousness ~ really wonderful, with lots of things to choose from; then we both ordered the mushroom fritatta which was excellent."

It is an intimate spot, and our table for 2 by the front window was pleasant and reasonably quiet, although we ate fairly early and I think it could be a bit noisy if the large table near us were filled with diners. We chose the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings. The food was inventive, fun, and very good to excellent, with complex flavors. The chocolate ravioli with sweet potato and porcini mushrooms was outstanding, and despite the name was actually more savory than sweet. The wine pairings complemented the food well, and service The portions were appropriately sized for a tasting menu, and service was outstanding."

  • "This was my third trip to Mica and I was just as enthralled with all of our food as on prior trips. We ordered a wonderful goat cheese and beet appetizer along with blue crab agnolotti and white tuna crudo. Each were perfectly seasoned and prepared. My friend and I shared the Pork Duo which was exceptional, a pan-seared pork tenderloin along with confit-style pork. Our wine was a merlot-syrah blend which paired nicely and was not overpowering. We loved it all and will be back for sure."

  • "Had a great time at Mica, ordered the 7 course menu and was a good experience, the only recommandations that i can make to someone visiting Philadelphia is to take the train from downtown, it cost aprox US$40 to get there by taxi and takes ages to get one to come back. it also close really early, i was the last client on my 4th course! but overall was a good experience! Scott is one of the waitress, /would recommend going with him, got a great knowledge on the wine list to pair with ur food."

  • "Fantastic food and presentation. Had five course Valentine's Day menu with wine pairing. Wine pairing was okay but too scripted. Our waiter presented the choices to each of the three small tables in our area as rehearsed. When my wife told the waiter that due to her having a bad cold and medication that she would be unable to finish the last few course and asked if he could box them up for her, he acted taken aback like it interrupted his flow. Throughout the dinner he seemed pressured to handle the few tables he had. I would return but would request seating in the front area. The back was good for conversation but otherwise lacked environment."

  • "Wow! We were really pleased with our meal here. It was our first visit to Mica, but we have been to chef Mr. Roman's Blackfish many times and always loved the food. It was Valentine's Day, so there was a special 5- course tasting menu, several selections in each course. They all sounded great, so it was hard to choose. From the inventive and fun amuse bouche, (a play on oeanut butter & jelly), to delicious desserts, it was amazing. We also did the wine pairings with our meal, and they were spot- on. Our server was super-knowledgable and just a pleasure. We can't wait to go back."

  • "Mica's is always on our short list when we want a special evening out without making the trek into center city. On this visit, we tried the chestnut soup (delicious!), the blue crab agnolotti (a favorite!), the coddled hen egg soup and then the blue catfish as our entrée. We always find the food here to be very good - this visit was no exception. Every dish was prepared perfectly, and the plating/presentation is always terrific. The wait staff here is particularly knowledgeable - important as the menu changes frequently and usually includes just a handful of entrees - it helps if you are a bit adventurous. The limited menu in our view makes this a four star instead of five, but honestly we've rarely ordered the same thing twice."

  • "We hosted a dinner for six colleagues that included a couple of out of town foodies. No one in our party had been to Mica before but all will be sure to return. What a fantastic evening. What made it fantastic was the food and service. The decor can be described as simple yet upscale. The tables are in a dining room that fits 30ish so when you enter it appears small but it was clear every element of the room had been considered and offered plenty of space. The great evening started with an impressive staff. The staff was appropriately attentive and extremely knowledgeable while the food was incredible...one dish after another. I can't remember a time when a group wanted to taste each others' dishes so badly. Thank you and well done."

The main dining room is just a big room with very little character. Also, the prices are extremely high. The food was amazing, however, I felt that the pricing did not provide value. I am in the hospitality industry and have no problems paying for high end quality, however, with that said....I still felt the pricing was too high."

  • "My wife and I went to the Dungeness Crab tasting last week at Mica. This was our fifth special tasting visit. We both agreed, this one was by far the best. What the Mica team did with crab was worthy of an episode on Iron Chef. This restaurant continues to impress us with unique and innovative food combinations and artistic presentations. So if you are like us and enjoy going to a restaurant and trying dishes that you just couldn't make at home, then I encourage you to give Mica a try! Butternut Squash with Lemmon Grass and Cardamom soup? Porcini mushroom ice cream? Who thinks this stuff up? The flavors were truly amazing! All we can say is keep up the great work and we'll be seeing you again real soon!"

  • "My wife and I love this place not only for the quality product and innovative selection of ingredients but also for the small atmosphere and attention to detail during the Service. Chef has an amazing pallet and pairs seasonal ingredients with international compliments to bring out the best in the star of any dish. One thing to note is that the dining area is small and can be noisy due to their space limitations. That is the only negative that I could offer. Overall, this is a must do restaurant which should not disappoint anyone for any occasion. We will continue to visit and enjoy their menu for years to come."

When we asked the waiter for more info about the menu items--- he did not really do a good job for this level of restaurant-- YES WE KNOW IT IS SOUP!! Do not put people in the table next to the coat closet and the stairs. IT was very cold and obstrusive-- it is too tight of a space and the floor is not flat. Does not seem that you want to put customers you like in that space. Would usually give MICA a 5 across the board--- the food was excellent but other issues has us wondering if we will run back. All manager fixable issues-- we will see if they respond!"

  • "My husband and I went to Mica for our 6th wedding anniversary. We had been to Blackfish before, but were excited to try Mica for the first time. We loved the "BYO" feel to the restaurant and were seated at a cute little 2-top by the window. We quickly selected the 5 course tasting menu option and didn't regret it one bit. The chef(s) worked around my extremely pregnant status (8 months) rather easily, presenting us with amazing course after amazing course. In addition, my husband loved the beer list and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommend and we'll be back!"

  • "As we've been here a bunch, I figured I'd use this review to help guide folks considering coming to Mica. First if you are looking for the 28 ounce bone-in Rib-Eye with a baked potato, might I suggest you consider the Capital Grille. Mica is not for you. On the other hand, If you are looking for unique flavor profiles and artful plating, then you want to consider this establishment. What they do with food at Mica is part art, part chemistry and part sorcery. Why I love this restaurant is because with the seasonal menu, I never get bored. There is always something new for me to try. Live in the Western Suburbs? Why fight the Schuylkill. Mica is just off of Rt. 309 with ample parking directly behind the restaurant. Enjoy!"

  • "Can't order popular wines by the glass here- only by the bottle, making someone like me who wanted less than a bottle ordering an unknown and very mediocre wine by the glass for a hefty $12.00 or so. We three found the meals (if you call them that) sparse and inadequate. I ordered a pork shoulder expecting something hearty and filling, and got a portion of brown chopped up meat the size of a business card! My friend ordered crab pasta and mentioned how very little crab meat was in her miniscule portion. The general attitude among the waiters was pompus. We all went home hungry-- but I went home both hungry AND broke, having paid well over $200.00 for this fraud of a meal. Got home and had a ham sandwich before bed. Yummy."

  • "As a self-proclaimed "foodie", I returned quickly to Mica to reaffirm my initial positive impressions. Second time round, I found the food to be very good again, although the foie gras appetizer with creamed honey was not to my liking. Service was the hole in the evening's experience. "Uneven" would be the overall assessment. Mica would benefit by having a person in the front of the restaurant (a "captain or maitre'dee) to ensure that service is maintained at a very high level."
