Diner Reviews
  • "I love the food at Mia Bella. I have been three times and each time had something I would equally say is my new favorite. Very flavorful, presented well and well priced. This will keep me going back all the time. Very, Very, Very Good!!!!"

  • "We went for sunday brunch. I had on cute shoes and it was raining, so i was looking forward to valet parking. No valet parking. what the what? Instead I had to parallel park down the street, walk in the rain, and through construction mud to get inside. Not a good start. But, once inside, the ambiance was very nice. Servers were attentive. We had two or three ppl attending our table. Our drinks were never empty. There were three other large groups of ppl but spaced out through the restaurant. Not crowded. The food could've been better. Clearly Sunday morning food was from Saturday night. I ordered the Pasta di Mar which included shrimp, clams, and mussels. However, they were all chewy (from the microwave reheat I'm assuming)."

  • "I brought my boyfriend, who is somewhat new to Texas, to Mia Bella for his birthday, and he absolutely loved it. Our reservations were for six-thirty, and we were seated promptly. The food was delicious, and our server was friendly and definitely aimed to please. The Gnocchi was amazing as was the tiramisu. We will definitely be coming back."

  • "Not a good choice for Italian food, in our opinion. The salad dressing was extremely sweet so we had to send it back to the kitchen. The bread was greasy and pasta overcooked with a greasy, ill-flavored tomato sauce. On the plus side the staff was nice but it did not make up for the food."

  • "We had an early dinner before a show at House of Blues. I hadn't been in a while because I have started eating a Paleo diet. I had no problem finding something on the menu because there were several options. My husband ordered the lamb and really enjoyed it. I had the grilled rainbow trout with a jalapeno pesto sauce. It had a little to much char but it was fine after I took the skin off. Highly recommend."

  • "Overall, the food and service were great. It wasn't until we got our ticket and we realized our not so good martinits was $16 bucks a piece... nothing special either on the martinis! Those were the most expensive and least deserving martinis!"

  • "Ate here with group of friends before a concert at the house of blues. Wonderful calamari and great bread with dipping sauce! The chicken Parmesan was outstanding, tender and very flavorful. Will definitely come here again."

  • "I love Mia Bella usually and so made this visit particularly disappointing. I went for lunch during the week so there is a time pressure to get back to work. The service was almost nonexistent. We saw the waiter twice. The pasta in my dish was stuck together so almost in edible. The sauce and toppings were delicious. Just an overall disappointing experience."

  • "We had the Snapper Special and it was wonderful ....the salad with goat cheese was also mouth watering!"

  • "mushy scallops and the eggplant parm...was not like it was previously....not sure we will return....."

  • "I ordered the parpadelle and it came out a sticky mess. It was as if the sauce was just poured over the cool pasta instead of being tossed with the pasta to warm through. The service was decent. I was disappointed since I expected more due to the high ratings."

  • "Having dined at the theater district location, I was expecting a much better experience. Service was incredibly slow and food mediocre at best. Tomato-basil soup was stringy with cheese- dining companion ended up spreading it on bread. Jalapeno-cilantro pesto we'd enjoyed at the other location was soupy- no body. The open grill concept would usually add to the atmosphere, but there was so much smoke billowing into the dining area that our eyes were burning half way through our meal. To top it off, we spotted a roach crawling on the pillar just behind one of our party just after our food was served."

  • "We went to Mia Bella on a Friday evening before an event at the Toyota Center. I'm so glad we had reservations because when we arrived, the restaurant was packed. Our experience was enjoyable, despite our waiter. We knew he was busy and we were understanding of that. However, we was flippant, anxious and seemed to not handle the busy atmosphere well at all."

  • "In the restaurant's defense, it was a busy pre concert evening. They were, however, unprepared to handle the large number of diners. The service was poor and the food was disappointing."

  • "Good food for a reasonable price in a DT location convenient to the Toyota Center."

  • "The food and ambience was great. Our server was horrible to us!!! We say him when he took our order and he never came back after that. He catered to one table, he was having shots and drinking wine with this table while we were waiting to be asked about desert. We decided against desert since we sat there for almost 15 minutes waiting. We spoke with the manager and nothing was done. We probably won't return."

  • "My wife and I visited this restaurant for Valentine's Day and was very impressed. The food was excellent and the ambiance very romantic. Beautiful jazz sounds filled the air to make it a romantic dining experience."

  • "So thrilled to have discovered this spot. Service was great, very friendly and knowledgeable waiter. Great ambience with old school music playing at just the right level to still carry a conversation easily. The FOOD. The Ahi Tuna Risotto was, quite honestly, the very best I have ever had. Beautifully displayed and flavorful.... I wanted to eat every bite! I plan to return soon and I would definitely bring my friends."

  • "The service was average- they wanted to seat us close to the bathroom when the restaurant was not full. They were not attentive and did not ask if this was our first time to the restaurant or if it was a special occasion (which it was). We were not informed of the house specialties or anything... Our seating was terrible; we didn't feel we were welcome. Food was also average. My osobuco did not have much flavor."

  • "We ate here before the Houston Marathon. It was a good filling tasty meal that paid dividends the next morning when we ran. We would eat here again! Very delicious!"

  • "The pizzas were just right... very Neapolitan and not overloaded with cheese. The olive oil dipping sauce for the bread was yummy...filled with fresh garlic and herbs."

  • "First, the address that is listed in Open Table is to their Houston office, not the actual restaurant. Luckily, it was just down around the corner from where we were looking. Second, the lights were up way too high for any type of romantic setting and it was just too loud in the entire restaurant. The food was good, except the chef burned my sea bass so I sent it back. We were given a free dessert, which they forgot to account for when we got the bill, so I had to send the bill back as well. Our server was fantastic, so the down side for the evening was the burned fish and definately the atmosphere not being what I thought it would be (romantic)."

  • "A small group had dinner here before rockets game, chosen because of proximity to Toyota Center. Food was excellent, service became spotty as it began to fill up. Only complaint is the valet parking. House of Blues & Mia Bella have competing valet parking services, and house of blues is more expensive. However you don't know the difference until you are out of the car, causing you to move your car 20 feet. If it had been raining, it would have been a mess. Will be glad to eat there again when going to Toyota center"

  • "My party of 6 dined here following a matinee performance of the Nutcracker. It's easy to get to from theater district. The menu has a great variety to please even the pickiest eater. Although the food was great, the server could have been a bit more attentive. I would definitely dine here again.....the food was great!!!"

  • "We were the only ones in the entire restaurant, and the server was absent for almost our entire meal. It took 20 minutes just to get drinks, and everyone got theirs at different times. I will never go back."

  • "Great Italian. We were not disappointed and are looking forward to our next visit."

  • "We ran into traffic and were late for our reservation. We didn't think to call ahead. The staff had given our table away. The hostess was turning us away from the restaurant. We were lucky that the manager happened to be standing near by and overheard what had happened. He was able to work with the hostess and find another table didn't have a reservation, so they able to accommodate us with a table. Food was great and the waitress was wonderful."

  • "It is downtown. Hard to park without fee. We waited at the door for several minutes with no one waiting. We waited for service. Once waitress was with us the service was in consistent. The food was great. The seafood lasagna was excellent. Good for family. Go early if you have an event."

  • "My wife and I were attending a concert at the Toyota Center. We had reservations and were seated immediately, the waitress took our order for wine which we got promptly. Waitress asked if we were going to the show and we told her we were so she knew that we were not there for a long dinner. Received our bread but then we didn't see our waitress for half an hour. When I finally got her attention to ask about our meal, she said it would be coming right up. Another 10 minutes goes by. When we finally got our meals we had to eat so fast we couldn't really enjoy it. Afterward we find out that the kitchen switched our ticket with another causing it to be late. Missed most of the opening act. Too little attention too late, but the food was good."

  • "Table was ready immediately and waiter was excellent. Great food recommendations and overall excellent service. Food was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Favorite part was the 50% off wine list on Tuesday. Found an excellent Chilean Pinot Noir for $16 a bottle...can't beat that!!"

  • "We enjoyed the food. Recommend the "Linguini de Grano". They also have a decent wine list. Highly recommend you make a reservation. The place doesn't have alot of tables."

  • "This was a great place to have a pre-show dinner. Friendly service with a diverse menu makes it easy to have a lite meal or a full several course dinner. Throw in a good wine list and you have a fine start to any of the shows that might be going on in the area. Make sure to make reservations."

  • "Atmosphere was lively. Service was friendly and attentive. Ravioli Quattro was tender, warm and creamy. Salmon penne pasta met our expectations. We can't wait to try other dishes next time."

  • "Extensive menu and good food in a part of downtown that is devoid of restaurants. You won't go wrong by eating here."
    Dined on 10/19/2013
  • "Rainbow had skin on both sides so you had to scrap off all the sauce while removing the skin so you could eat it. The seafood Lasagan was just a big piece of mush. Very poor. I went to the old location and liked it but it hasn't carried of to this location"

  • "Love the food and the service. The noise is just too much at times, though. Wonder if anything can be done about that?"
