  • "Having dined at the theater district location, I was expecting a much better experience. Service was incredibly slow and food mediocre at best. Tomato-basil soup was stringy with cheese- dining companion ended up spreading it on bread. Jalapeno-cilantro pesto we'd enjoyed at the other location was soupy- no body. The open grill concept would usually add to the atmosphere, but there was so much smoke billowing into the dining area that our eyes were burning half way through our meal. To top it off, we spotted a roach crawling on the pillar just behind one of our party just after our food was served."

  • "We went to Mia Bella on a Friday evening before an event at the Toyota Center. I'm so glad we had reservations because when we arrived, the restaurant was packed. Our experience was enjoyable, despite our waiter. We knew he was busy and we were understanding of that. However, we was flippant, anxious and seemed to not handle the busy atmosphere well at all."

  • "The food and ambience was great. Our server was horrible to us!!! We say him when he took our order and he never came back after that. He catered to one table, he was having shots and drinking wine with this table while we were waiting to be asked about desert. We decided against desert since we sat there for almost 15 minutes waiting. We spoke with the manager and nothing was done. We probably won't return."

  • "So thrilled to have discovered this spot. Service was great, very friendly and knowledgeable waiter. Great ambience with old school music playing at just the right level to still carry a conversation easily. The FOOD. The Ahi Tuna Risotto was, quite honestly, the very best I have ever had. Beautifully displayed and flavorful.... I wanted to eat every bite! I plan to return soon and I would definitely bring my friends."

  • "The service was average- they wanted to seat us close to the bathroom when the restaurant was not full. They were not attentive and did not ask if this was our first time to the restaurant or if it was a special occasion (which it was). We were not informed of the house specialties or anything... Our seating was terrible; we didn't feel we were welcome. Food was also average. My osobuco did not have much flavor."

  • "First, the address that is listed in Open Table is to their Houston office, not the actual restaurant. Luckily, it was just down around the corner from where we were looking. Second, the lights were up way too high for any type of romantic setting and it was just too loud in the entire restaurant. The food was good, except the chef burned my sea bass so I sent it back. We were given a free dessert, which they forgot to account for when we got the bill, so I had to send the bill back as well. Our server was fantastic, so the down side for the evening was the burned fish and definately the atmosphere not being what I thought it would be (romantic)."

  • "A small group had dinner here before rockets game, chosen because of proximity to Toyota Center. Food was excellent, service became spotty as it began to fill up. Only complaint is the valet parking. House of Blues & Mia Bella have competing valet parking services, and house of blues is more expensive. However you don't know the difference until you are out of the car, causing you to move your car 20 feet. If it had been raining, it would have been a mess. Will be glad to eat there again when going to Toyota center"

  • "My party of 6 dined here following a matinee performance of the Nutcracker. It's easy to get to from theater district. The menu has a great variety to please even the pickiest eater. Although the food was great, the server could have been a bit more attentive. I would definitely dine here again.....the food was great!!!"

  • "We ran into traffic and were late for our reservation. We didn't think to call ahead. The staff had given our table away. The hostess was turning us away from the restaurant. We were lucky that the manager happened to be standing near by and overheard what had happened. He was able to work with the hostess and find another table didn't have a reservation, so they able to accommodate us with a table. Food was great and the waitress was wonderful."

  • "It is downtown. Hard to park without fee. We waited at the door for several minutes with no one waiting. We waited for service. Once waitress was with us the service was in consistent. The food was great. The seafood lasagna was excellent. Good for family. Go early if you have an event."

  • "My wife and I were attending a concert at the Toyota Center. We had reservations and were seated immediately, the waitress took our order for wine which we got promptly. Waitress asked if we were going to the show and we told her we were so she knew that we were not there for a long dinner. Received our bread but then we didn't see our waitress for half an hour. When I finally got her attention to ask about our meal, she said it would be coming right up. Another 10 minutes goes by. When we finally got our meals we had to eat so fast we couldn't really enjoy it. Afterward we find out that the kitchen switched our ticket with another causing it to be late. Missed most of the opening act. Too little attention too late, but the food was good."

  • "Rainbow had skin on both sides so you had to scrap off all the sauce while removing the skin so you could eat it. The seafood Lasagan was just a big piece of mush. Very poor. I went to the old location and liked it but it hasn't carried of to this location"

  • "The food was good and the scene was just fine, very up to date, clean and theme oriented. The waitress had not been trained well enough to notice and follow up on steps that are necessary when taking care of patrons at the table. Tea and water were never refilled, acknowledgement of time that it took food to be delivered to table was ignored, and the bread was taken away too soon, along with our utensils prior to our entrees arrving. That can all be forgiven. The food though took over fifty minutes to arrive at our table. We arrived at 11:45, ordered at at 12:00, and the food was put on the table at 12:56. We ate and left by 1:22 because we had other meetings to attend several blocks away. I will return & give them another chance."

  • "This restraunt got such good reviews and according to open table and google maps it was close to our event venue. Luckily I called to change the reservation and the hostess gave me a " more accurate physical address." I find it is no longer across the street from our venue. We arrived and I was underwhelmed by the atmosphere. More children than couples. Booths, very bright, very casual, we were seated practaly in the laps of the table next to us. Not romantic at all. The cocktails were good. Service okay. The food varied from great to bad. I would not go back because of the atmospher."

  • "We had the special wine tasting. It was far and away the best such event we have attended. We recently attended one on a cruise and were served tiny portions of food with a tiny taste of wine served in shot glasses. At Mia Bella we received royal treatment and full glasses or more of each of five wines (bring a driver!). The only downer for me was that the piece of fish I had seemed a little overcooked, not dry but not flakey. We would love to do this again and to do it with a larger party of friends!"

  • "I was looking for a place to dine near the Toyota Center as I had tickets to a concert there. I booked at Mia Bella without issue. I double checked with the restaurant and they had my reservation. I phoned them ahead of time and asked if it was BYO where I could bring my own wine. They said yes and the corking fee as $15. This was great as I am a big wine person and have a large collection. Dinner was very good there and the service pretty good as well. It was a great starting point to the concert as we were just a few blocks away."

  • "We have dined here many times and have always enjoyed a great meal. Sunday evening we were seated promptly and waited 15 minutes before being acknowledged by the waiter. We immediately ordered drinks, salads, an appetizer and our entrees. 30 minutes later we flagged down a different waiter and asked him to please check on our salads. He immediately brought them out. We finished them. 45 minutes after that-still no entrees. Guests on either side of us has ordered, eaten and left and we still had no food. We set there for over an hour with empty glasses and no food. Management nor waitstaff never acknowledged us after we placed our order. I left $20.00 on the table, got up and walked down the sidewalk to another restaurant."

  • "This was a great restaurant, except for the noise. The kitchen is in close proximity to the main dining area, so all the sounds of cooking carries out into the restaurant. I like the sounds of cooking, but If I have to raise my voice to talk to the person next to me, then then the noise becomes a nuisance. I liked the food and the atmosphere, it was just a bit more noisy than I expected."

  • "First time at Mia Bella for early dinner before a concert at next door's HOB. Great location and easy access. I asked our server for a recommendation, and it was oh em gee delicious. Fried risotto balls for an appetizer (generous portion enough to share - or not) and my roasted eggplant salad was fresh tender spring greens, a dollop of goat cheese, and perfectly roasted eggplant strips. Service was efficient even with a huge party that filled most of the dining room. I like the big windows and the lighting. I will definitely go back for the lamb dish that a friend recommended. But those fried risotto balls - must have more, please!"
