It was our third visit and we look forward to our next visit.
Eating out for us is only on special occasions and this is a special place.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOutside OasisIt has been some time since we last ate at Meriwethers but we picked it for dinner last Tuesday night. I was surprised to see how many people had the same idea on a Tuesday. A short wait in the bar with a glass of Prosecco and we were seated in the outside garden area. Beautifully done, nice fountain feature and since it was a bit chilly they had well placed heaters which kept us very comfortable. Small plate selection was varied and delicious. We had stuffed date, crab deviled eggs and seared tuna. Then we ordered a sqaush and chèvre cheese salad followed by a crab risotto that was as good as anything I have eaten before "awesome". The lamb dish was just okay and we skipped desert. Service was timely, friendly and attentive.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAmbianceWhat a great place to go to relax and spend time with your family or your significant other. We truly had a great time.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb foodGreat, creative, locally inspired menu, with occasional touches of brilliance.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOur food was really greatOur food was really great but our service was very very slow, its like the server forgot about us.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat all around restaurant...only issue for the whole meal was a tuff tenderloin that was 39.00.
all apps/salads/rice/drinks were spot on along with the scallops...
comped the desert for the poor meat...

The food is fresh and delicious. It's the kind of food that makes you feel good. It's a happy, cozy and historically beautiful. place. Meriweather's is a Portland treasure.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat ambienceWe had a wonderful brunch celebrating my sons birthday. Very friendly service5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGrt food and ambience; cool recept. An old Portland institution that produces fresh and appetizing dishes. We made early reservations due to a celebration in our family on several fronts, after some difficult times. Despite reservations and a timely arrival, we had to wait. to be seated. Two of the favored brunch dishes were not available. Service was efficient, but there was clear pressure to "move on" as soon as we finished our meal - we complied. Overall, Meriwether's is a vibrant and beautiful setting with delicious food. We were, however, disappointed that our event was not met with a little more graciousness, as seemed to be the standard for known guests. We will try again.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely eveningIt was our first warm weekend and we ate outside...the ambiance on the patio is great, but it was very loud...things quieted down as some noisy tables left. Scallops were excellent, as was the beet salad and vichysoisse. The viognier and pinot noir were also excellent. Our waiter recommended the lamb but my husband was disappointed...he prefers it grilled and charred on the outside. But we are not deterred...we love Meriwether's and will be back for brunch in a couple of weeks!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousFirst timer. Wonderful food. Definitely going back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Outdoor DiningWe had an incredible dinner dining all fresco at Meriweathers. Great food, wonderful service, great back area outside. Love it!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem, not quite in the Heart of PYet again, Excellent food at one of our favorite places to eat! Love the ambiance and mellow jazz music. Great flowers meet you before you enter. A very special, romantic place with /excellent service. No Tricks, just Treats!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe chose Meriwether's as theWe chose Meriwether's as the place for our visiting family to experience excellent local NW cuisine. Our last experience here was fabulous, and we expected the same this time. We had a reservation for 7:30. We arrived on time and we were informed that our table was almost ready, just waiting for other guests to finish up. We waited in a very crowded lobby for 30 minutes before we were finally seated. I've never had to to wait that long at a restaurant where I have a reservation. This was a big disappointment. Once we were seated the service was fine although a bit slow, and the food was excellent as usual. Not the perfect dining experience we were hoping to share with our family, but still a very nice one.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWanted to enjoy the much awaitedWanted to enjoy the much awaited sunny weather, and heard that Meriwether's had a nice patio with great food. Correct on both counts! The patio was delightful with beautiful plantings and twinkle lights, and the food was WoNdErFuL. We had a marvelous dinner and will most definitely be back!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMa little too noisy in thea little too noisy in the bar area. Maybe should not try to serve lunch there instead just use for drinks. One of my favorite places when I visit Portland.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousService was a little slow but our server and the meal were all very good! We'll be back!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent - as per usualLove this place. Went for Brunch this time and had a wonderful meal. The best Chicken and Waffle I have had in Portland. Don't miss the Northwest Benedict w/ crab meat. The staff are always so friendly and attentive. Can't wait for the garden to open up to dine al fresco. If you haven't been, put this place on your priority list.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPlanning to return. Our first visit (with a gift card) food was delicious (dungeoness omelet) and very attentive wait staff without being intrusive. I'll be back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!!!!We went on Sunday for a brunch and all I can say is WOW! Fresh food made right. Our family will be back..4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe Shall Return, for Sure!Meriwether's has its own parking lot and a fireplace in the dining room--in addition to a menu loaded with fresh, tasty, and creative dishes. A tower of chicken paprika and onion rings atop creamy greens is the most memorable entree we ordered. The garbanzo fries were especially yummy, too.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMeriwether's has it all: greatMeriwether's has it all: great food, service and ambience. Maybe that's why it's an institution in Portland. We always bring out-of-town guests here. A very special place.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe tenderloin with the carmelizedThe tenderloin with the carmelized sweet potatoes and leeks was outstanding!!!! Please keep this one on the menu. The noise level was very loud in the bar but our server did her best to mitigate the problem.
I live close by and have been to the restaurant many times--it has been wonderful to see the garden grow up and the business thrive!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were very pleased withWe were very pleased with our first visit. Very inviting interior, pleasant server and good food. The soup was hot which always is one of our issues with most restaurants. We will go back.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, the food was excellent. As usual, the food was excellent. On this particular night, the service was extremely slow. Though the dining room was ot crowded when we dined, the bar was very busy. It took forever for our server to initially wait on us and even longer for each of the dishes and drinks to be delivered.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, one of my faviorteAs usual, one of my faviorte places to bring friends. The all want to come back again.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food integratedExcellent food integrated with fresh herbs and vegetables from their farm. Artful presentation. Very creative fusion of exotic spices and international ingredients with quintessentially PNW fare that makes an enjoyable and interesting meal (e.g., scallops, saffron broth, thin asparagus, Italian fregula).4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday Brunch with no waitBacon and egg, Benedict, Huevos Rancheros and Dutch Baby...each delicious, well prepared and exactly as it should be. The only thing missing for our brunch was service. It was very disappointing as the restaurant was relatively quiet. We will be back, and we hope that this was a one off.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFive stars!!This restaurant was five stars in every way! We were visiting from another state and found Meriwether's through open table. It was exactly as described. The food is fabulous, we loved eevrything. If you are in NW Portland plan to stop in for dinner.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond visit to this restaurant,Second visit to this restaurant, once for brunch and now dinner. Both fantastic.

See you soon!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother nice eveningI really enjoy Meriwether's and so did my husband and our friends. Waiter was particularly good, sensed that we hadn't seen our friends in awhile so he didn't intrude on our conversations. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we will definitely return. Well done, Meriwether's!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was exceptional. Our server was exceptional. Our dinners were delicious except the beets were boring and brussel sprouts were disappointing.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dining experience.Outstanding food and service. We enjoyed Happy Hour on Saturday and returned for Brunch on Sunday. Beautiful outdoor dining on a sunny day as well as pleasant indoor seating. Staff were very professional, attentive and accommodating.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMy mother and I went hereMy mother and I went here for Easter Brunch. We made a reservation, so we were seated quickly. That's why I keep coming back.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved the restaurant andWe loved the restaurant and were not disappointed! The only thing we wanted to point out was that although we made reservations, we still had to wait and wondered why people who did not have reservations that came after us were getting seated before us.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMUnderstated eleganceThis is one of my favorite places. So I'm somewhat biased. The atmosphere is high-class and tasteful With understated classic architectural undertones. Sitting next to the giant fireplace in the lower-level dining area is amazing especially on cold nights. You'll definitely remove any sweaters you may be wearing coming in from a winter evening. But what you will really be amazed by is the food, The flavors, and the presentation. Every meal me and my Dining partners purchased was absolutely delicious. The portions were perfect in size, and the presentation of the food was artful.
Service is impeccable. They wait on your every desire. I think anyone going to this place, if they're comfortable with An expensive evening, will enjoy this plac3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFour of us had brunch at MeriweatheFour of us had brunch at Meriweathers on Saturday 3/16/13. It was fantastic. The food was exceptional, and we were able to sit at a table right by the fire place. The staff was very professional. We ate dinner on their huge back patio last summer, and it was also a great experience, but brunch was exceptionally good.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMeriwethers holds its own!We chose to entertain an out of town guest for dinner at Meriwethers and it did not disappoint. We started with great salads (two house and one caesar) and followed that with their scallops, tenderloin and cioppino. Everything was outstanding. Dinner was accompanied by a bottle of Longshaddow's Pirouette, a truly great wine.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOur small book club was ableOur small book club was able to sit at a table apart from others so that we had a quiet setting and were able to talk without noise from others in the restaurant and in turn without bothering other people. The food and service were great.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI like the seasonal menu andI like the seasonal menu and the produce featured from the restaurant's farm. The "beans and greens" lunch entree was amazing3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome brunch! Everyone lovedAwesome brunch! Everyone loved there food. Highly recommend the biscuits and gravy.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Sunday brunchMy wife and I spent 'date' night downtown so we decided to try Meriwether's for brunch for the first time - we had been to dinner at Meriwethers several times befor. I had the eggs with baby potatoes and bacon - excellent. My wife had the biscuits and gravey. Since we both wanted to try one of their pancakes so we ordered the kids plate. (A clever idea by our server). The meal great and filling - a nice end to a great weekend.1/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
