A word from McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Philadelphia
Located in the heart of downtown Philadelphia, directly across from the historic City Hall and on the renown Avenue of the Arts, McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant features over 30 varieties of fresh seafood flown in daily from around the globe. The two level restaurant features traditional white tablecloth dining in dark wood paneled rooms accented by handcrafted stained glass ceilings and mosaic tiled floors.

The popular, lively bar features a selection of micro-brewed beers and ales, regional wines, single-malt scotches, fresh squeezed juices and hand-shaken cocktails. McCormick and Schmick's serves lunch Monday through Friday, dinner seven days a week and offers a $1.95 bar menu twice daily. Reservations are encouraged.

I'm not saying anymore! Valet was great as well. Highly recommended spot to go to at night, if it's just you and the wife!"

  • "We came here with a reservation on a Saturday night. We were seated upstairs in a private area with a very nice waiter who knew a lot about the food we ordered. He came back often to check up on us as we ate our delicious meal. We had battered oyster and calamari for appetizers and they were both very filling and delicious. The entrees we had were crabcakes, seared salmon with brie, and fish and chips. They were all very good and we will be returning in the near future to try some more."

  • "We are from the suburbs and do not come to the city of Philadelphia. When we do we always dine at your restaurant. Thursday we attended the opera matinee it was so easy to book with open table. We use open table for reservations all the time. However I didn't know we could obtained points for open dining. However, I asked the hostess about how to register points and she said don't worry about it."

  • "My wife joined me for dinner before a concert and we were disappointed. The service was not attentive or professional. All of a sudden it felt like the place I enjoy for business lunches was being run by college kids. Drinks were slow to come, bread was slow to come, my wife's appetizer (delicious fried oysters) came out but my salad did not. The flustered runner mumbled something and ran back to the kitchen for it, returning a few minutes later. Worst of all, my wife ordered a chopped salad with breaded chicken as her entree. She asked for the dressing on the side, but of course it came heavily dressed. The greens were pale and wilted and the whole thing was unappetizing looking and incredibly bland. I will not be bringing her back."

  • "We were in Philly for a conference and were told by our boss not to bring back any of our per diem so we decided to go big one night. The rib eye was tender and flavorful. The chopped salad was excellent, and the lobster mashed potatoes and the roasted red pepper mashed taters were to die for. My dining companion is quite a picky eater and very demanding and our waitress never batted an eye. She was sweet, friendly, and professional. In fact, we saw her later at the hotel bar and she came over and chatted with us, saying it was a pleasure to serve us! Overall, it was an excellent meal. I would definitely return!"

  • "Two of us had wedge salads, which were absolutely delicious! We then had Mahi Mahi in two different preparations. I had the blackened off the regular menu, and she had the special, which was prepared differently (but I can't remember how). Also a good wine list by the glass and top shelf martini."

  • "Fish and chips, salmon and walnut salad were fabulous. Creamed spinich came unexpectedly with crutons and parmesan cheese; not a happy combination. On the other hand, the coffee was among the best I've had anywhere. Our server was outstanding; attentave, made great suggestions and ensured our dietary needs were met."

  • "Several years ago, this restaurant was clean, very well stocked and the staff was courteous. Today such a disappointment! Took about five minutes for someone to acknowledge us. Server was OK, but it seemed like he didn't want to be there. My wife ordered a pina colada. Waiter said they do not make them because they don't have a blender. A full service bar without a blender? Instead ordered raspberry iced tea. Asked for second one and waiter said they were out of raspberry flavoring. I ordered a second beer and didn't get it for about 10 minutes. Waiter finally came over and said they were changing kegs. Hard to believe I drank the last beer when there were no customers in the place! Food was average at best."

  • "We had a group of 7 for lunch from our office and had a great event. Noise level was good, we could all hear each other, not a sense of being cramped and the food was outstanding. The only negative is that our lunch was start to finish 90 minutes and the restaurant was not overly crowded. I'm not sure if they pace the lunch for leisurely luncheon diners and don't have many folks who have to return to the office. We didn't have dessert or coffee as we all had meetings to go to. Lesson learned would be on a return trip to tell the waiter that we hope to be out in less than 75 minutes."

  • "My mother, sister, daughter, and I decided to eat here before seeing Phantom of the Opera. We first ordered Calamari as an appetizer to share and we finished the entire plate. The sourdough bread with butter for the table is soft and fresh. My mother and I ordered the Blackened Mahi mahi with spinach and andiolle mashed potatoes. It was absolutely delicious! My sister ordered the Tilapia with cous-cous and said it was very tasty. My daughter ordered the shrimp off the kids menu and ate everyone! We all ordered dessert. They were sold out of the chocolate bag, but I ordered the mousse cake and my family ordered the apple pie with vanilla/ cinnamon icecream-needless to say, we tore it up! Would definitely go back there!"

  • "Thought I was having a nice dinner with my wife. However everything we ate I could've made on my grill at home. Best part was oysters appy and apple turnover desert other than that absolutely nothing to brag about. Server was horrible, he must have been new! Zero personality at all and never explained the menu or specials. Probably will never return... Total disappointment.. Way over priced for what was served.. I think the mashed potatos are from a box. Wow unreal... Waste of $200"

  • "The portions of the food was very disappointing to me. For the money your spending I would like not be hungry after 20 minutes of leaving the dining experience! I was not pleased with my food at all the salmon was over cooked very dry. And the portions were too small and the price was too high for what we got! I might visit other restauarants under this umbrella chain but if the portions are like this that would be a NO!"

  • "Friday night at 6pm restaurant was half empty which should of been a hint. Service was courteous and fast, almost felt rushed. When food came out some of it was barely warm on a very warm plate with cold spots in a middle of mashed potatoes. Ordered apple pie for desert and it was pretty bad, probably first time for me not liking apple pie. Supermarket pie taste better. Applebee's food is better and cheaper too."

I generally like this place when traveling to downtown PHL, but I will look elsewhere for a while before returning."

Our server, Felicia, was very attentive and talked about wines and offered suggestions based off of our requests. I wasn't fond of the lighting in the dining room which was sort of gloomy. Overall,we had a good experience."

  • "We had not been to McCormick and Schmick's for qwuite awhile and we were very pleased that the food and the service were still top-notch. Our waiter, Rocco, was excellent. He kept us informed of when our dinners would be ready and he checked on us regularly - though not annoyingly - throughout our meal. Management was a downside as we had relayed our compliments about Rocco on his impeccable service and the Manager's only comment was "Oh, really"."

  • "This was hands down the best seafood dining experience ever outside of MD. My grandmother is from the MD eastern shore and is hard to please when it comes to finding quality seafood. The crab cakes reminded her of her own and we talked about how close they taste to kind you find back home! The presentations were clean and colorful, server was accommodating, valet was very friendly and personable! We are going back next week!"

  • "My anniversary dinner began with a bit of a wait for reservations, but if I had to do it over again, I certainly would. I could expect a little wait with it being a busy Saturday, and this being the place to be to please your palate. Our waiter, “ROCCO,” went far and beyond to make our night pleasurable. He made some suggestions for our entrée (Ultimate Mixed Grill) and wine (Pinot Noir). His selection was sensational! I enjoyed my meal and it was perfect in portion; I wasn’t too full or still hungry after I was done. The wine was flavorful also. To top it off, “ROCCO,” surprised us with a delectable anniversary desert (Double Mousse Cake) on the house! Thank you for making our night worth the wait, as we will surely be returning!"

  • "Having been to another location (Reston, VA area), I remembered how good the food and experience was even 10+years ago...this visit just cemented that memory! From the attentive, but never-hovering wait staff, to the high quality and well portioned dishes (included a phenomenal recommendation of the apple pie on the current menu), there was only a very small blip to the meal...no butter knives! With a bit of improvisation, this quickly and quietly became very much a non-issue to our incredible evening."

  • "Considering the cost of our meal, i was extremely disappointed. Our "lightly breaded" lobster bites were in fact batter dipped and quite heavy which masked the flavor of the lobster completely. i chose the filet and stuffed shrimp entree. my stuffed shrimp were on the smaller side and room temperature when they reached the table. my filet was cooked to the correct temperature but appeared to me that the steak had been previously frozen. i tried a piece of my daughters Parmesan crusted chicken and that was very rubbery in texture despite a decent flavor. i had a few really good cocktails and our waiter "Anthony" was great, but i do not think i would ever give McCormick's (or other Landry's restaurants) another chance."

  • "I made reservations at McCormick and Schmick's to surprise my boyfriend for our anniversary. I was a little skeptical after reading some online reviews about poor service and low quality food. But thankfully that was simply not the case! Our server was wonderful and very attentive. My boyfriend ordered the Filet Mignon and I ordered the Atlantic Salmon, both meal were wonderful and came to our table hot and ready to eat. We decided to also order dessert at the restaurant and ordered the double mousse cake and the crème brulee. The meal was a bit more expensive than an average night out, but is fairly priced for what we ordered and the service we received. I have no regrets from eating at this restaurant and look forward to returning soon!"
