  • "My wife's side vegetables were soggy, salty and not very enjoyable. Her halibut was ok but for $38?? I don't think so. The desserts were underwhelming. Just standard fare, nothing really exceptional. All the food was average at best. Glad we had gift cards. We haven't been to M&S for some time - it seemed like it was not up to what we remembered. Sorry. Our waitress was pleasant though."

  • "The menu includes a chefs 3 course special. I had the beef tenderloin and shrimp scampi. It was great. It came with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. The walnut salad was very good for a starter and for dessert I had the molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream. It was fabulous. I was very impressed with the portion sizes for this "priced fixed" menu item. I would get it again."

  • "My clam chowder soup and the grilled seafood trio were excellent, with one caveat. The grilled salmon was dry, and hard to eat. My wife's salad - mixed greens - had a bitter taste and hard to finish. But her entree order was excellent. The server was fantastic. He anticipated our needs. Unfortunately, the receptionist, who seated us, was cold as ice, with a smile pasted on her face, with little desire to step outside her scripted role. She was the weakest link in the entire dining experience."

Wanted to split a wedge salad with my husband - waiter said, may not be enough - ordered two and one would have been plenty! My shrimp was O. K.! The cooked carrots on my Mother-in-law's plate were not cooked enough - hard!"

When we inquired about the mugs, we were told that sometimes they have the mugs and sometimes they don't; the cost of a small add on (relish) is out of line with other restaurants."

  • "We have always enjoyed the ambiance & food at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood in Irvine. I took my boyfriend there for the very first time for his birthday in 2009 & we ended up taking family there last Thanksgiving. Recently, when we were choosing restaurants to celebrate our anniversary, he chose McCormick because he LOVES the SEAFOOD!!! We had a great dining experience on Sunday, March 23rd. We enjoyed our food & decided to get SEAFOOD this time rather than the steaks. We truly enjoyed our dinner from appetizers to salad to the soup to our entree & desert. We were so full by the time we had our dinnres but was able to take home the leftovers!! All & all always a great place to dine!!!"

  • "Normally, I love this restaurant, but not on St. Patrick's day. You would think with a name like "McCormick's" they would know how to prepare a good corned beef. I eat corned beef every year, usually at home prepared by me. This year, I thought I'd treat myself to a meal at a restaurant for something really good. What I got was overly sweet, tasted more like honey than anything else. There were no traditional corned beef spices. The cabbage was burned on one side and overcooked. It was mushy. There were no carrots in the dish, even though the menu listed carrots. Online, the menu stated the price to be $12.99. The restaurant charged is $16.99. Even when we showed the manager the website price, he refused to give us that price."

  • "McCormick and Schmick's Irvine is a typical McCormick and Schmick's. It is comfortable, reasonably quiet, good fresh seafood, and good attentive service. It's a little more epensive than some, but then Irvine is a high cost-of-living area. My only complaint is that there was no local seafood on the menu. Barramundi from Australia? Sure. Oysters from Canada? Sure. But where was the local squid or yellowtail or other local seafood? Not on the menu, unfortunately. By the way, the very similar Wild Fish Grill had an almost identical menu, with no local seafood either. Otherwise,McCormick and Schmick's is fine."

  • "See note below that I emailed to the manager... to date, they have not responded. McCormick's is known for their steak and seafood, so you think they would get the steaks right the first time. We've gone here many times and for the most part, we have been very happy with service and food. This time, they failed on the food -- not once, but twice, and this was my wife's birthday dinner. She finished her entire meal before they brought me my 'corrected' steak dinner. They charge a premium price (our tab was over $140), and we know that, so we expect to receive excellent service and food -- but this time, they didn't deliver on the food, and I guess on the service -- waiter was good, but service from the kitchen, not so much!"

  • "Open Table worked great. We walked in an were seated immediately - Had made reservations another time at Gulliver's and had to wait for more than 30 minutes with reservations. I guess I expected too much. I comparred this M&S with one we went to in Boston. The food was okay - just nothing to rave about- and why oh why would you NOT have baked potatoes? Yes, they are an everyday occurance but come on! The selection was not what I was expecting. Three of us - two had steak and one had trout- bill - $240 bucks - I don't mind spending the money because it was a special occasion - but - did not feel like we had a $240 dinner - Sorry M&S - I wont' be back"

  • "I used to go to M&S once or twice a quarter and the seafood selection was always broad and deep. The preperations tasty and the place hopping. This M&S in Irvine was dead on a Thursday night, the selection was pared way down from what I am used to and the parmesan crusted snapper was more breading than anything else. I think I recall reading that the chain was bought by an investment group. If that's true, then I'm not surprised by the drop in quality. I won't be back to this M&S. I may give the one in Portland a try before I write them off completely."

  • "Great restaurant, great food. I spent close to $800 for a party of 8 for a milestone birthday celebration in mid-February '14. Yet I was charged a $20 corkage fee for each of the four bottles of wine I brought with me. These fees came to $80, which I feel is too much."

However, the birthday guest was told her dessert would be the chocolate molten cake, but then was served crème brulee. She enjoys crème brulee but really loves chocolate. A subtle disappointment."

  • "We took friend to the Irvine McCormick's & Schmick's which was highly recommended by friends. Her birthday was Feb. 19, and we had a 6:15 reservation. Ambience was great, though noise level was extremely energetic. We ordered salmon and shrimp which was well prepared. Waiter was very pleasant and helpful. I told him privately it was our friend's birthday. When it was time for dessert, no dessert menu was offered, but the house supplied a nice little cake with ice cream and candle to our friend. The waiter just sat it down--with 3 spoons-- and left. I had expected waiters to gather and sing to her. Also, the rest of us would have enjoyed ordering dessert too. Implication was all were to share her birthday dessert. Awkward!"

  • "Every aspect of the meal was superb! Our server Shole took great care of us with thoughtful recommendations, and exceptional attention to our needs. Three of six diners had the sea scallops, two had the stuffed salmon, and my father had the almond crusted trout. We exchanged samples from each of the dishes and everyone commented on how well prepared and flavorful each entree was. We ordered three delicious desserts: cheese cake, bread pudding, and creme brulee. The only downside was the noise level. We were at a table for six, and my parents and wife had a hard time following the conversation because of the distance to the opposite side diners. We were there on a Sunday during the early dinner sitting (5:30 PM)."

  • "Came here for birthday celebration but no special desserts or confetti like they do at Roy's. Ok message written on menu but that was it! Food was salty esp crab cake. Steak was poor because taste and quality was worse than something you can cook at home with Costco steak. I will not be returning here. I thought since this restaurant was closer to residence we would give it a try. But I will stick with Roy's, Flemings,even Daily Grill for better food quality and special occasion celebration!"

  • "I took my Girlfriend here for valentines day. It was very romantic and energetic. We loved our waiter and the food they served. It wasn't the most amazing place I've ever been to (it was missing that final edge ) but overall, It was outstanding and I highly recommend it to others. prices range from around 20-50s. Get the lobster ravioli !"
