"My boyfriend and I came to McCormick & Schmick's to celebrate our 1yr anniversary of dating. I thought it was a very nice touch to be able to put his name across the top of the menu, to commemorate the occasion. The food was delicious, and our waitress was wonderful. "Food always terrific, service could improve some given everything else. Seems the waiters and waitresses are taught to upsell as always looking to sell something more or specials without telling you the price. It would be good for them to just be great service providers and helpful to the client as the place and food speaks for itself. No need to overkill !"

"Setting up the reservation online was a snap though this was a celebration and the resturant offers special items for the guest of honor so I had to call anyway. Which is a plus for the resturant for any group gathering to celebrate a special occasion. Food excellent, though service was slow, long delay between the courses and getting tea refills."

"The peach lemonade was delicious, so was the house salad to which I added avocados but the pan seared halibut was too dry, it had been overcooked. I liked the added onion rings and food on which the halibut was served. My friend had a steak and grilled vegatables which I did not sample but was told was very good. Also, the Chef accommodated her special needs, which I think meant no spices, but I had arrived after she had already checked with the waitress, so I'm not exactly sure what she requested. Overall, a very nice dining experience!"

"This was 2nd visit to this particular restaurant within a 6 week period. The service was MUCH better this time however the main courses still took a long to receive and everyone's food was not brought out at the same time (most of table was finished when last person received food). 'Okay' food at a high price."

"Popped in for lunch. Food was cooked perfect, including dessert. However, 7.99 for mixed greens, a few candied nuts and dressing is way over priced. So avoid the salad add on and the value is spot on."

"Started with happy hour. Drinks were ample and very reasonable. Reservation was honored exactly on time. Meal was excellent (Salmon and Filet). Service was outstanding. They even phoned for our hotel shuttle and came and got us when it arrived. Restaurant was quiet (no /TV's in dining area making for a very quiet atmosphere. Definitely would return."

"I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant (downtown location) the other evening with my son and husband. Our server was so polite and attentive to us. He was very knowledgeable about the food when we inquired about it and he made great recommendations to us. Our server was very tuned in to our needs as we ate and throughout the visit. My husband had the bone-in rib eye, my son had the swordfish meal (one of the specials of the day) and I had the redfish with the shrimp scampi. We loved the food, everything was delicious. We had the pecan pie for dessert which was also wonderful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great meal!"

"Our food was bland. That is the reason for the two stars. We arrived at 5 pm during the happy hour. The bar was busy,nice and loud. So at first it was hard to hear my family talking to each other. The noise level did decline later in the evening and it was pleasant. Our waiter provided excellent service. The restaurant was clean and decor was nice."

"Had a great dinner here, on a Friday evening. We loved everything ordered. Will definitely recommend the Crab Cakes and the Lobster Bisque. Our service was very good. We enjoyed the dining experience. The only complaint would be the dress of some of the patrons. If you advertise as business casual, take reservations, and it is a Friday evening, should you be observing people in jean shorts and a t-shirt?? If they choose to dress that way ask them to dine in the patio or at the bar. Otherwise, state your mode of dress is anything and everything...the homeless are welcome...I have no problem with any of that...just do not try to pass off as a fine dining establishment and have many patrons dressed like they are at Burger King."

"Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. We went to McCormick & Schmick's before the BB King concert, as we couldn't get into the restaurant at the House of Blues. The food was amazing, and the service was impeccable. Even though they forgot one of the four ingredients from our Ultimate Mixed Grill, it was brought out within five minutes of our mentioning it. And it's a good thing they did - those missing scallops were incredible!"

"The restaurant was very quiet on this evening While that was a surprise, we enjoyed the more intimate atmosphere. Our meal was very well prepared and the wine selection was very diverse. However, how waiter Jimmy made the evening completely enjoyable. His level of service for our party was wonderful."

"I visited M&S for dinner prior to a show at the Hobby Center. We were a little late due to walking from our parking location, but were seated promptly and with care. The host and wait staff were friendly and attentive. I'd like to see more wines by the glass but they have a reasonable selection. We had a starter and salads followed by main courses (seafood naturally) and the strawberry shortcake. We both enjoyed everything."

"This was by far the best possible restaurant we could have eaten at in Houston. The food and service were impeccable. While the food was well worth the price, the restaurant was a bit empty. The only thing I would potentiall change about the restaurant would be that there were a few more diners. Perhaps slightly lower prices, or intriguing deals / offers would bring in more diners."

"We made the mistake of visiting this restaurant near the end of happy hour. The crowd at the bar was young, drunk, and very obnoxious (not at all typical for any M&S I've eaten at before. The server was not trained well (fumbled with the cork, left and did not open our bottle of wine at the table), the food was all served cold from the kitchen. Throughout the ordeal, however, the waiter maintained a cheerful and concerned attitude which served her well during this difficult dining experience. The manager corrected the bill at the end and made it right with us, but we did go home happy (from the good wine) if not otherwise hungry."

"My wife and I had an anniversary dinner celebration at McCormick and Schmick's Houston-Downtown. The hostess greeted us and gave us anniversary wishes. The Lump Crab Tower was delicious with chopped Mango and Avacado. I ordered the Atlantic Salmon and it was delicious. The green beans were cooked just right. My wife ordered Blackened Mahi Mahi with Avacado Pico De Gallo and it was very tasty. Lance served us a complimentary, celebratory chocolate dessert for two. He made sure we were out in time for a play at Hobby Center. A note of disappointment was that Happy Hour drink prices are only good at the bar, not at our table. This is not noted on signage about Happy Hour. "

"My sons took me here for early supper after attending the TUTS theater. The staff could not have been nicer or more attentive in making it a special meal. The service wonderful, food suggestions insightful, and the food was very good too. A bit expensive, but expected. Would definitely come again. Convenient location downtown with parking near by."

"This was the first Mother's Day I spent with my mom ever. There may have been one or two as a child, but surely not since the age of 10. Almost 20 years later, I decided to take her to McCormick and Schmick's for a nice brunch. Our server (older guy) was fantastic! His calm yet professional demeanor was great and the food is to (not die, but close) for! If you die, you can't eat it, right? At any rate, the food, drinks, service and overall experience was worth it ($200). My cousin says I was being cheap!! Go figure!! I advise anyone go even if he/she/they have NEVER been. I had the Ribeye and my mother had the Seafood Trio--her first time trying salmon and she loved it--with a few drinks and some Strawberry and traditional cheesecake!"

"The restaurant worked really hard but missed during the hectic moments of Mother's Day. Our first table was right next to the kitchen entrance - very noisy and we were staring into the dish crew. We were reseated and another large group was seated 12 inches from the edge of our table. The food was good but very slow."

"I think this was a great place to eat. The vibe was nice and the servers did a great job. We came during lunch hours which outside the construction going on downtown was quite on the inside. I would reccomend this place for anybody wanting good food and a nice seafood selections. "

"Our Blackened Redfish, NY Strip and Trout were awesome and cooked perfectly. Problem looking up our points on the Landry's card but overall a wonderful dining experience. The Chef was again just awesome and the service was very good but not great."

"We selected M&S for a fine dining experience, having heard much about it. My wife had a Caesar salad (acceptable), grilled red snapper (good but a little dry). I had lobster bisque (excellent) and panned seared red snapper (again, good but a little dry). We shared a crème brulee for dessert which was very good. What spoiled the evening for us were some of the people who were seated very near us and their dress. One couple, rather shabbily dressed (he wore an ill-fitting worn out golf shirt, shorts and sneakers) and a woman with her two teen children (he wore a "wife beater" shirt, shorts and flip flops, she had flip flops and very short shorts. These people were dressed for Denny's. Does M&S have no dress standards? Disappointing."

"This was our first time dining and we were extremely impressed. I wished we remembered our waiter's name because he was wonderful. Super knowledgable of the menu and knew every answer to any question we had. We took his recommendation on the blackened mahi mahi and seared sea scallops and both were incredible. Will definitely be back!"
