Diner Reviews
  • "I've been to this location as well as the one in Dallas. I usually frown at chains because they're rarely the same. I've had great experiences at both! The food, the service, the mimosas, the atmosphere...it's always EXTREMELY busy so the loud noise and the "hustle and bustle" is just a part of the experience. I love it! Just be sure to MAKE A RESERVATION!! Thankfully I always have, so I walk straight in. But I've seen others annoyed at the fact that they have to wait for hours...literally...with no waiting area. But try it! I always get fried chicken and greens...so yummy to my tummy and so well seasoned :)"

  • "You have to have their Fried Egg Sandwich and their French Toast!!! Another mush have is their Fried Chicken! Definitely my favorite place for brunch!"

  • "Let the server know we were going to the theater - he was great at getting our order in and food delivered so we had plenty of time to eat leisurely. Menu is very varied - from full meals to quirky appetizers - try the fois gras with peanut butter and jelly - it's fabulous!"

  • "I visit a Max's every chance I get when I'm in Texas! I'm live in Arkansas and would love it if they opened one in Fayetteville, AR. This place is worth the drive though. I love the French toast and the fried egg sandwich. I was also able to try the jalepeno hot cakes and wow just wow. They were amazing!! As everything always is, thank you again for creating a fun atmosphere and great food!!!"

  • "Food here excellent, no doubt about it. Probably best fried chicken in town. That said, be prepared to put up with pretentious attitude and nonsense such as forced valet parking and being told that diet soda isn't available at brunch "unless it's a mixer." Not customer focused and doesn't need to be given its popularity. Would probably step over your dead body to serve the next person. Valet peeling around the corner in my car was the nail in the coffin. Won't ever be back."

  • "Chicken best ever, so crispy and the pancakes with corn and jalapenos were terrific. Can say enough about the side of max n cheese! One friend had the egg sandwich, which I will return and order for myself. Definitely will be back for Sunday brunch."

  • "It was a group of four we had reservations. Some ladies had emails 15% first time visit, the waiter was very confused on the email stated he had to go get the manager for approval. The manager came and looked at the email and walked away. We had to wait in between this about 5 minutes, no one said yes or no to accepting the email with the 15% off. So finally I had to abrudtly ask either you going to accept the 15% off or not, we do have money to pay for our meal. I think also it would be nice if they could separate the bill when there is a party of two or more. The manager was rude at the end"

  • "Had reservation on July 12th for a birthday brunch. The seating was way too close and the server was not pleasant at all nor did he try to be helpful with anything. The mimosa they served was just awful. This was my first time there and I will never go back. This place is way to cramped !!! It was so bad that we got up and went next door to Molinas and had wonderful service and had a marvelous time !!! Never go to this place !!!"

  • "We went to Max's Wine Dive for dinner the other night for my husbands 30th birthday. They don't make a big deal (or offer any specials) for birthdays but we always love their food. My husband got (and has once before) the shrimp and jalapeño cheese grits and LOVES it. He won't get anything else on the menu because he loves it that much. I got the special - chicken fried lobster with a lobster bisque scream sauce and mashed potatoes. It too was phenomenal. The only complaint I had for the night was the price of the special. They don't advertise the price of the special and we were a little surprised by the steepness of the bill. Needless to say, we will definitely be back!"

  • "This is a perfect example of a place that does not know what they are - bar or restaurant. I had dinner reservations and we sat down. After 15 minutes of just being served water and no greeting from any server, we left and had a wonderful dinner at Nara."

  • "Good food, good service, and food came to the table quickly. The waiter was subpar, however. It was out first time at the restaurant and he was not helpful when asked his opinion on the dishes and it seemed he was rushing us/in a hurry to land the table when we were deciding our drink orders. When it came time to pay the bill, we informed the waiter we would need the bill split and he said he was unable to split the bill, but he could ring it up separately at the register. We each placed our credit cards in the wallet and the server then stated he couldn't determine the amt to put on each card meaning we needed to calculate the price of our food x tax. Seems stupid to me."

  • "Mac and cheese is to die for. I'm sure everyone's already heard it but every time I go the mac and cheese is perfection. Consistency like that is very hard to find. I have the problem in my own restaurant. We came pretty late, one of the last people in the place and everyone was perfectly nice about it. I understand how much that sucks when you think you get to go soon and then someone walks in but they were respectful and pleasant about it. Sat at the bar and had a wonderful meal. Thank you guys!!"

  • "dined at Max's on a Sat night (there were four of us). Food just okay fish and chips were fishy. Mashed potatoes VERY SALTY and I enjoy salt. Friends gnocchi way too salty. Highly salted food is an egregous error and Max's was guilty of this in three of the four dishes we ordered."

  • "Hello, We enjoyed our dinner. I had Bison Sliders and my date had the Salty Dog. We both loved every single bite of our meal. This place is fun to have dinner with wine. Our waiter was great and we have had him before and he is always on top of things and gives great suggestions. We will be back. One tip....make reservations ahead of time."

  • "The Friday-Saturday food seems to be cooked better, in my experience. I got the fried chicken they are famous for on a Wednesday and the white meat was dry and overdone. The fried oyster nachos were unusually messy, but still tasty. Their presentation was a bit lacking this time."

  • "The fried lobster special is a must have if it's offered!! Delicious goodness! Red wine list is much better than their white wine list. Service is always friendly, knowledgable and attentive."

  • "So I've been heAring great things about this place and been dying to go! Went for Father's Day I will say reservations are need so you don't have to wait. I had the southern fries chicken... It was just like my grandma's greens where cooked perfect and the potatoes where just like I like em seasoned and fresh! My BF had the lobster tail with chicken fried chicken he says everything was mouth watering. We also got a bottle for mimosas and the champagne they served with it was by far the best. Not too bitter not & not to bubbly! Price was fit for that plate of heaven!!"

  • "This place has great food but in such a small space. I was literally touching elbows with the neighboring tables. Not a good place for claustrophobic! There were little gnats flying around and I had to keep swatting my food, mind you I was indoors. The waiter was never around and messed up my order. The food was amazing tho. I had the creme brûlée French toast with house potatoes (which were dripping in grease) and my boyfriend had te jakes cakes and wings. The wings are to die for!"

  • "If you don't go for anything else their Crème Brulee French Toast is the go for!!! I looked these guys up on yelp, tripadvisor, etc....and lots of folks make mention of their chicken, it was okay. My husband and I went for brunch and tried to sample at least a quarter of the menu options....#1 was the Crème Brulee French Toast, Close second was their Chicken Fried RIBEYE!!"

  • "We ordered tapas style by choosing several appetizers. Pan Boracho - not my cup of tea, my girlfriend said it could have used some salt. Lobster Fries - Good, but not worth the $24 it cost. Chicken Sliders - Yummy! And of course the collard greens are always great!"

  • "Another great visit to Max's! One of my favorite places to go with friends and hubby. Brought my 78- yr old Mother and brother there since they were in town for graduation. We ordered for the table and chose the wine - both of which were great! My mother was bothered by the noise level and overlapping conversations from closely- situated tables. As a younger person (40), I had not really noticed before or been bothered by it, and I realized it may have been a bit much for her. Overall, they loved the place, loved the food, but perhaps too much for an older adult. Ps make sure you ask them to add Applewood Smoked Bacon to the Mac and Cheese and not to forget the honey- chipotle sauce for the fried chicken- egg sandwich was perfecto!"
