A word from Marchand's Bar & Grill
According to the City Guide Tampa Bay, "The “Grand Lady of the Bay” is home to Marchands Bar & Grill, a swank eatery that keeps vigil over the downtown marina. Remodeling efforts emulate the Mediterranean decor present throughout the Renaissance Vinoy Resort while utilizing rich woods and marbles. Keeping up with changes in guest expectations and healthier lifestyles, the menu also reflects a brand new era -- gone are the tired sauces and a heavier fare of yesteryear. In their place, the menu reflects the flavors of the Mediterranean with touches of other global influences, such as a macadamia-encrusted fish might be served with a papaya or mango salsa, while the lamb is redolent of the most virgin olive oil with touches of fresh rosemary. Careful preparation coupled with exquisite presentation renders each plate an experience. This is dining to be savored, not merely experienced."Continued

  • "Very impressed with the meal. Ordered the watermelon + arugla salad and the grilled salmon and, coconut gelato."

  • "This was a date day lunch for my wife and I. We try to find a special place to dine for lunch one day a week away from the daily grind. Marchand's was it! Pedro from Peru was our server and made us feel at home. He did an excellent job going over the menu, answered all of our questions without hesitation and served us well. Very friendly. The food was excellent and the lunch prices reasonable. We enjoyed our time together there and will do it again."

  • "Upscale restaurant with elegant and spacious seating. Fantastic service. Award winning Sunday Brunch but limited lunch menu other days. Regular lunch menu consists of appetizers, salads/sandwiches but only 5 entree options. Food quality was excellent, however."

  • "Great food and service. A bit noisy though. The fresh fish was delicicious...cooked perfectly."

  • "My mother has always enjoyed Marchand's. The service is always wonderful and she appreciates the special attention. In this case it included bringing her a pillow for her back as the chairs are so deep. The selection though limited, appeals to a wide variety of tastes. The portions were good without being over the top. The noise level was reasonable which is very important due to mom's hearing issues. She was able to hear all the conversations and be a participant. There are many times when she feels isolated due to the noise in many restaurants. Here it was a soft murmur that did not interfere at all. As she lives close by, it makes it easy for her to get here and she really appreciates the valet parking."

  • "Service plus! The waffles are TO DIE FOR! Make sure you get the sea salt butter and apple compote...I'm not a waffle girl and these are that good! My boyfriend ate half ...luckily for me! There was a buffet since it was a holiday weekend and I asked if they were included....YES! Now the buffet itself was pretty special..omelet station, oatmeal, meat, lox, fresh fruit and cheeses ...scrambled eggs best ever...pastries outstanding..especially a specific chocolate filled croissant. Evil! Plus not out but available...eggs Benedict, waffles and pancakes. Just as we were leaving a couple asked how we got pancakes and waffles..just ask...they really do aim to please here! Wonderful hotel!!"

  • "Please bring back the full Sunday Brunch spread. I was so looking forward to brunch and when I walked in and saw that anemic presentation I wanted to turn around and walk out! The only reason I didn't was because I know the food is good."

  • "We had been looking forward to a quiet lunch in a great restaurant. Jackhammer sounds from roof construction were an overpowering surprise. I'm sure that isn't a common occurrence, but you might want to ask before you go. The restaurant is beautiful, the food top-notch, and our server was professional and kind."

  • "Offered on Father's Day: Typical Sunday brunch fare w/ addition of shellfish and several pates (they were very good). Deserts were unexciting and very tiny. The first prime rib at the carving station was nice and medium rare, but the next one was way over-cooked. The whoe expereience was not nearly as good as it used to be when the brunch was available every Sunday. Nice setting and good service with live music (a little loud). It was over-priced to boot."

  • "We were staying at the Vinoy and came here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. It was a different experience than what we thought it would be. The food and flavors were wonderful and the wine was excellent. But this is not the romantic restaurant we thought it would be. It is a noisy room without the ambience we were looking for. There is a central bar area with lots of patrons who were watching the baseball game on the TV. Not quite the candlelit dinner we had in mind but I would come here again with a large group."

  • "We eat here frequently, have always enjoyed it, but I truly believe the food is getting even better. For a real great experience, ask for Donald to take care of your table, he's amazing."

  • "This is indeed a neighborhood gem which we sometimes tend to overlook with all the choices we now have Downtown. We were looking for a quite gourmet meal and that is exactly what we got. Beautiful presentation and cooked to perfection. Donald our server was exceptional."

  • "The ambiance and service were excellent! The food was truly amazing! I could not eat my way around the room because I was enraptured by the select salami, imported olives, mushrooms, and cheeses. The foie gras was mind blowing! As brunches go, this is one of the best I have experienced and we return often, but this last trip was perfection, kudos to the chefs and staff!"

  • "From the moment we were seated in the wine room until our desert and coffees everything went seamless. We were celebrating our 25 anniversary and could not have picked a finer spot. Every detail was perfect. Wonderful ambiance, food and super service. Could not ask for more."

  • "Restaurant design is outstanding. Server , although knowledgable and clearly well intentioned , was uneven in performance. Gave a great wine recommendation. However was slow to take order and very, very slow to delivery entree, which appeared to have been plated long before actual delivery to our table. Appetizers were very good. Main dish may have been very good if delivered in a more timely fashion to maximize flavor and temp. Unfortunately our experience eroded through the evening resulting in a less than satisfying result--- and an average tip for our watresss( 15%)---- we'll probably come back and give it another try but slow, distracted service " grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory". • "The restaurant is situated in an expanded lobby/atrium. Very noisy and not cozy or private. I would not recommend for a quite romantic outing. The food was average for the price. The service provided is minimal. Definitely it is not a repeat destination. "

  • "We have been to this restaurant may times and it seems that it takes forever to get you dinner. It took 25 minutes to get my husands appetizer and another 25 minutes to get our entree. The food was very good but the service needs to improve, the restuarant only had a few tables taken."

  • "I was celebrating a friend's birthday and it exceeded all my expectations!"
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "We shared a nice bottle of Talbott Pinot Noir and we munched on the always-fresh and always-hot amazing bread, bouncing between a wonderful crusty white sourdough and an equally tasty thick pumpernickel with raisins (two butter options, too - regular whipped butter, along with a blueberry/lemon/honey whipped butter concoction that was delicious). Dinner options were many and varied - Marchand's does the farm-to-fork concept, and they change their menu regularly, perhaps once every four to six weeks. Both of our dinners were creative, delicious, and completely satisfying. We finished with freshly baked pie and coffee. And we left happy! Great place, highly recommended..."

  • "The restaurant was very cold, but when I brought this to our hostess' attention she remarked that she would check the thermostat and adjust it accordingly. Within a few minutes the temp had risen a couple of degrees to a comfortable level. Second disapointment: we chose Marchand's because of the "3 for $32" promotion that was on the restaurant's website. When I asked the server about it we were told that staff was told that morning that the promotion ended that day and that the a la carte menu would be used instead. My opinion - they should have honored the deal anyway sinc eit was a last minute change. When we received our check, the brunch mimosa was priced at $9 on the bill when the menu clearly stated $7. Food was good but unremarkable."

  • "My wife and I dined there on our 41st wedding anniversary. My wife found the steak she ordered tough and over- cooked. The restaurant quickly substituted another dish that was perfect. They handled it like pros."

  • "we were hoping to enjoy a great meal in a fairly quiet space. the restaurant is in beautiful surroundings, in a large elegant space. it has an oval bar in the middle of the room and FOUR enormous TV screens in the middle of the bar showing a hockey game! The restaurant had been advertised as refined dining in an elegant setting, and we dined in a sports bar! There was live music, which was as little louder than you'd like in a restaurant. The meal was excellent, served in a very noisy, distracting environment. this is not the place to go for an intimate dining experience. we were sadly disappointed"

  • "We enjoyed a fine meal, excellent service, nice wine list, and had a splendid conversation in a wonderful ambiance. Just first class at every turn, from coming in, to being seated nicely, to the helpful waiter, and then, the delightful meal and dessert. I had the sugar cured ham shank which was just wonderful, and my wife the tenderloin, which, too, was perfect. The veggies were unusually well done, and the service splendid. A very nice meal."

  • "Marchand's was recommended to me to visit while I was in town for the day by a manager of an Orlando restaurant that I frequent. She made me a reservation and requested a table with a view. Boy did Marchand's deliver! I was thuroughly impressed with the service, food, and ambience. I will most certainly be returning."

  • "We went for Sunday brunch and had a delightful experience! Live music, friendly attentive service, and wonderful food in a beautiful setting--what else can I say? The chief and kitchen staff have to get the lion's share of the praise for the great experience. The food here is beyond anything that we've had in the Tampa Bay Area except for a few of the steak restaurants. Yes, we've been to the James Beard awarded restaurant, etc. and found them all lacking and questioned the reviewer's tastebuds. But here at Marchands, you will not find anything missing. Check out the online menus, and then go see for yourself; you will not be disappointed."

  • "As locals we always try to support the businesses in the Community, and appreciate the effort that has been made to bring the Vinoy back to it's former glory. However to be a quality hotel, there needs to be a quality restaurant. The food was not terrible, but in most cases pre cooked and reheated, except the desert which was frozen like a rock, the atmosphere for a 'fine dining' restaurant was annoying between the noisy crowds at the bar and the music. The meal's value was $50.00 , but the price was $90.00 per head, which was the only menu we were offered. In summary for a total bill of $260.00 ...the next evening at Bonefish was much better. I suggest creating a true first class restaurant, or just serve Hamburgers, and Sandwiches."

  • "The "1925" menu at this historic hotel in St. Petersburg FL, makes dining in this venue very affordable. Food, service and ambience are all top notch. Go for the total experience."

  • "The service, ambience & food were all very good. One of us mentioned the "creations" were quite esoteric and wondered if the plates were a little too "precious". Hence the small # of diners in the room. I would definitely recommend it for a quiet romantic dinner or gathering of 4-6."

  • "Good Location, nice view but needs improvement. Salad is overpriced and average in taste, nothing special. The Grouper was fantastic!! The Steak however was overcooked, ordered medium but received well done (did not wand to wait another 45min for another one). Taste-wise was very good, just over cooked. Presentation was excellent, however the service was poor. Very long wait for the waitress made this expedience boring to say the least. Interior is also on the average side as there is nothing special. You would expect something more from a restaurant that charges an average of $120.00 for a dinner for two without wine. Wine list is better, choices are excellent."
