  • "I took a large group to the restaurant on a Monday evening. The restaurant was not crowded, yet the service was extremely slow. We continually had to search for our server to ask for drink refills, etc. The appetizers we ordered were very good, however, the entrees were lacking. A comment was made that the beef in one dish, while flavorful, was dried out as if it had been made first then kept under a heat lamp for 30 minutes."

  • "As a former chef in French restaurants in NYC and the Caribbean I have an informed perspective on the nature of this cuisine. Mango's lunch offering was solidly illuminated with Latin warmth, fine service, excellent presentations and delicious food. The empanadas and superb tamalito started our experience. The entreés anticuchos and wonderful Ajide Gallina were craftily seasoned and cooked to perfection. The tostones and green salsa offered as an amuse guele were wonderful as well. My guest and I were delighted as the whole experience just kept getting better and better with no disappointments. The dessert spongecake with a warm filling similar to dulce de leche was a coup. Bravo!! MERVEILLEUX !"

  • "The wait service was excellent, staff was friendly and food was prepared and served in a timely manner. After being seated outstanding, thin and crisp plantain chips were brought to the table. The plates of food were attractively garnished and the vegetarian mushroom medley served on rice was flavorful. The shrimp dish ordered by an member of our party was plentiful and tasty and required a doggie bag to complete. The noise level was a bit louder than I like. The mojito and wine cooler, ordered by others in our party were yummy. As a vegetarian I was pleased to find several options to choose from on the menu."

  • "In St Louis for the basketball tournament and looking for a unique place to dine that accommodates reservations. Very friendly staff who worked with group as numbers changed on the reservation prior to dining. No issues. Waiter was well-informed and provided helpful information regarding menu, providing suggestions for those who had special dietary needs. Group not rushed, but enjoyed a relaxing dinner in a fun restaurant with interesting and delicious food. Portions are right-sized with excellent seasoning. Noise level on a Saturday night was somewhat loud at times, but not anything that would keep us from returning."

  • "Went to Mango for the first time. It has been many years since I have been to a Peruvian restaurant. I like that the menu is not too large and the specials were typed out. Enjoyed the shrimp entree and a small exotica salad which was light and refreshing. I do not understand why they serve rice and french fries. I would leave the fries out, they were nothing special. The shrimp were very flavorful. You must order the sangria, we shared a pitcher among four us us."

  • "The food was wonderful, but our whole experience was not fun at all. We were a large group of 14, and had confirmed it numerous times. Six of us arrived first as we were hosting the party. We saw our table ready in the window and the restaurant was not full. We had three children with us and they would not let us sit at the table until everyone arrived, but made us sit at the bar. We finally talked them into seating us, but from then on out it was clear they didn't care for the fact that we deviated from their rules. The service was good but very cool. It just put a damper on the evening. We will not return."

Through last year we have dined at Mango on the Friday of the Home and Garden Show in downtown St. Louis and had looked forward to our meal on Friday 07Mar14 as it coincided with my wife's birthday. The past dines at Mango's were memorable for the flavor of the dishes, good bar service, and the attaentive but not smothering service that set Mango's appart from other restaurants in downtown St, Louis. None of these qualities came through last week."

  • "We love to try different places around town and Mango Peruvian was recommended by a co-worker. We were late arriving because we had been to an art showing earlier in the evening. They still honored our reservation and we were seated as quickly as they could get us in. Our table was romantically positioned near a window with a nice view of Washington street and the city...there was great excitement in the room, people were laughing and having a great time. We never got to the menu as the food specials were excellent. The food was delightful...perfectly prepared. The drinks were great. The price was right where I expected it to be...no complaints. We had a great time!"

  • "We split the Jalea as an appetizer and the fish tasted so fresh despite the fact that it was fried. I had the Lomos Saltidos or Saltidos Lomos ( I'm not 100% sure which it was or if my spelling is correct), but it was fantastic. The person I went with had a shrimp pasta dish and that was fantastic as well. I had the crackberry to drink, so surprisingly good. The only complaints I have are that there wasn't really a Peruvian feel to the place (I mean Daft Punk was playing the whole time) and that no matter how quietly we were speaking we seemed to be the loudest table ( I know that this is finer dining, but we weren't being loud, not a place I'd recommend bringing the kids). Food was great, I will be going again despite the ambiance."

  • "I really wanted this to be a good night. My wife and I don't get out much since we live in the boonies so I took her out for a romantic evening of food and entertainment. While the food was pretty good, and our server very attentive, I had a couple of issues. -Even though there was hardly anyone at the restaurant we were seated very close to the bar and shortly after another couple was seated next to us. The tables were not very far apart, so our conversation kept getting interrupted. -The only item that really blew me away taste wise was the soup during the second course. Everything else was just sort of ok. -They automatically charge a 20% gratuity which I wasn't a huge fan of. I almost always tip 20%, but I like to have the option."

Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The food and wine pairings were great. Restaurant was full whenever one seem to be enjoying themselves too. We would definitely recommend mango to anyone that has not tried it and will be returning."

  • "We were happy with the pre fix menu. With this being our first visit it was nice to have a limited menu, although we are looking forward to going back and checking out the full menu. I had a fabulous beef tenderloin cooked to perfection some that is difficult to find in other restaurants my husbands Bouillabaisse was delicious but a little larger serving would have been nice for him. Maybe it is just that he is a bigger eater! For me the serving sizes were appropriate. I had the wine paring with my meal and it was well worth the additional cost. We can't wait to go back again."

Upon seeing the main dining room, I thought this might be an experience to remember but we were seated in what I would call the 2nd dining room where the the decor was totally blah and lacked ambiance. Nice color on the wall, but other than that totally unremarkable. They do need to clean the sales stickers off the bottoms of the wall hangings. The menu was limited, which is understandable for V-day, and the items were presented in an upscale manner but were not uniquely Peruvian as I had supposed and hoped would be the case. The service was the high point. Polite and friendly but not overbearing. In my opinion, Mango has potential, if it works on the details as well as the first impression."

  • "Our party of 3 each ordered a different shrimp dish and tasted all. They were wonderful. My friend had Flan for dessert and it was just the right texture and very tasty. We also had Fried Plantain and empanada appetizers. Our Santa Ema sauvignon blanc wine was perfect with our meals. We were seated in a booth on an outside wall and the wind was blowing very cold air around the covered window. I had to put my scarf over the opening. It was a busy Sat. night and was somewhat noisy."
