Diner Reviews
  • "Our second visit and it was even better than the first. Our server, Martin was attentive and knowledgable. His wine recommendation was excellent (and one of the cheapest options on the menu)! The food is amazing, worth every cent. Save room for soufflé."

  • "I am a Chef from Indianapolis and worked at The French Laundry and did a lot of research to find a great date night restaurant while my wife and I were vacationing in Bradenton Beach. We had an unbelievable time. One of the best meals we have had. I only wish I could have thanked the Chef personally."

  • "This restaurant never disappoints. You will feel like you are dining in a 5 star French restaurant. Sauces are light and inventive. A must dine when in Sarasota area."

  • "We were in Longboat Key for a week and decided to try Maison Blanche. We felt like we were in Paris with Chef in the kitchen and his wife, Victoria?, running the front of the house with amazing skill. Not a huge menu, but what there was, was "cherce". It has an elegant quality and, once you're inside, you see why it's named as it is. Can't wait to go back next year."

  • "My wife and I shared a special occasion. We had heard little of Maison Blanche, but is one of our friends favorite. I can understand why he is so impressed. We decided to use the Prix Fixe Menu. There were many different choices, but you are also allowed to take any plate of the a la carte menu. Each dish was excellently prepared and presented. The mine that we paired was from a well known vintner and moderately priced. Our server was expert on the dishes, knowing the dishes and preparation. I would highly recommend Maison Blanche for a special occasion. The only drawback was the ambiance that has very tasteful décor, but is muted with a white drapery surrounding the room. This was not a big deal, but I would enjoy a Gulf view."

  • "Sadly, terrific food was overshadowed by the conversation of the table near to us. I guess luck of the draw was not on my side, that night."

  • "Wonderful experience and tastes! My husband absolutely loved the 1st course veggies, a big surprise for me. . I loved everything. Decor is fine. I can say the ladies room was very up to date. Plan to visit soon as we had a great experience."

  • "Best meal in Sarasota, probably Florida. Unique versions of classics done superbly, to the point that each dish is exciting. I was joyously stunned by every detail."

  • "We travel to Longboat at least 3 times a year and we are always game to try something new. This was our first visit and we thought the food was very good, portions were small but reasonable but overpriced. The two of us ordered one starter to split, a fish entree and we each had 2 drinks. Our bill was over 160.00. There is no view as you are eating surrounded by white sheets with no windows. I don't want to sound harsh but for the price, there are better locations to choose from on longboat key. We will most likely never return unless there is a special event."

  • "We have been going to Maison Blanche a few times each year for most of a decade for special occasions. The food is wonderful and the service impeccable and warm. It"s the best restaurant in Sarasota, bar none."

  • "Consistent over the years with excellent food, service and ambiance."

  • "My wife and I are semi-regulars at Maison, meaning we go there everytime we get to our place on Longboat Key. Maison is a very small, intimate space with no view outside - the focus is inside, and rightly so. The food is wonderful - I've had nothing I wouldn't recommend, but am very partial to Chef Martinez' black truffle risotto, cochon du lait (suckling pig) and simply, chocolat - a molten chocolate cake dessert. My wife loves the roasted ribeye steak, USDA prime and cooked to perfection with a mustard peppercorn sauce. Chef uses 80% or more organic ingredients locally from Florida. He had one Michelin Star in France. Emeril recently taped an interview and show with Chef Martinez that was picked up by Food Channel to air this fall."

  • "So good.We just love this wonderfuResturant which caters to yourevery desire. My husband has had heart problems and can't eat dairy.Chef caters to his every whim.Sometimes, I feel his food is even better than mine somtimes. This food is as good as you can get anywhere on the world. My only complaint is that the chairs are uncomfortable .Sweet Martin ( our excellent server) tries to help with a pillow, but it really doesn't " do the trick"."

  • "We have eaten here many times when on vacation and the food and service were superb as usual! This last time we were a group of 6 and everything was prepared wonderfully. Waiter is always knowledgeable about pairing wines with foods, describing dishes etc. Dinner here is always the highlight of our week!"

  • "We saw the restaurant on one of Emeril's food shows. And thought we'd try it out the next trip to FL. We drove from the Tampa area, but well worth the trip. Our experience was perfect.....delicious food, ambience and service."

  • "At Maison Blanche, my wife and I have enjoyed the finest dining experiences we have ever encountered locally, in our 30 plus years in Sarasota. We discovered this upscale spot several years ago and are loyal patrons to date. One feels comfortable and relaxed being surrounded by elegance, yet simplistic, modern design and décor within the dining areas. The attention to detail by every staff member during service, is well beyond one's expectation. Every entrée brought from the Chef's kitchen to the table is a model of perfection and a delight to the palate. I won't spoil the fun by revealing the menu items. It's something one must experience for themselves. It's well worth the short drive onto Longboat Key. Respectfully, Ben & Pat"

  • "The food was to die for. Small menu but flawlessly prepared and served. The restaurant is located in a hotel however not affiliated with it. Own entrance but location was initially a turn off until we got inside then all was good. If you are looking to celebrate a special occassion or want a romantic date. This is the place!"

  • "Typical rude French wait staff, but I encourage you to endure it for the cook-to-order exceptional food. Each amazing dish had an equally outstanding sauce. Portions are small as expected so be sure to order your own appetizer and share with the table. Overall great experience and I will be returning. The only weird thing is when you are celebrating a birthday, they turn up music and disrupt the entire restaurant. Kind of like a high-end TGI Friday's. LOL"

  • "Wonderful food, beautiful presentation, elegant decor. Just a little too crowded. Tables were close together. The chairs would have been comfortable for a living room but were not good for eating dinner."

  • "Maison Blanche is an example of the good life. We selected the Prixe Fixe menue consisting of a starter, entrée subbstituting a mesclun salad fordessert. The Foie Gras terrine was smooth and full of flavor, My braised sweetbread entrée was tasty and served with a beet puree. The hit of the night was the suckling pig. The skin was crisp as it should be. The meat was tender and tasty. Our salad was fresh and lightly dressed. We selected a French Bordeaux that complemented both entrees and starters. There might be 25 tables in total, Reservations are definitely a must. Our server had a heavy French accent that added to the experience. It reminded me of upscale restaurants that I have eaten in when in Paris. A definite come back to place!"

  • "We visit Longboat Key three or four times each year. Maison Blanche has become one of the restaurants we make sure to visit. The tomato tart appetizer and apple tart dessert (served with an apple sorbet) are both favorites. My husband's grouper or snapper was delicious. My pasta with lobster and shrimp in a lobster bisque sauce was good. The lobster pieces were tough, the only small disappointment in a very lovely evening. The wait staff is outstanding."

  • "This restaurant is not like the casual fish restaurants in the area. It is elegant and sophisticated. The food and service is in the French style. The wines were excellent. We had a lovely evening. Very special. We look forward to returning."

  • "My wife and enjoy a restaurant where the food, service, and ambiance are top notch. Mason Blanche is all of that and more. Michel was our server and he did a splendid job. Our compliments to the Chef for creating an excellent meal. We had the Herb Ravioli and Chanterelles Risotto for our first courses. The main courses were Short Ribs and Prime Rib Eye. All were excellent. Deserts were Chocolate and Peach Raspberry soufflés. The wine list includes selections from all over the world. There are many fine French restaurants in the U.S. but this one is at the top of my list."

  • "Too few entrees and starters on the alarm carte menu. Couldn't even have a green salad unless I wanted to order from the 65.00 prix fix menu. I don't need all those rules when I'm the customer. Our snapper was delicious however I would have liked an appetizer but there were so few and nothing I liked"

  • "We are usually on LBK in the summer and Maison Blanche is always closed for vacation. After six years of hoping they would be open we finally were able to dine there this January. From top to bottom a wonderful, wondeful experience. The simple, almost sensory depriving decor focuses your attention where it belongs, on your table mate and the food. From simply perfect mini baguettes to masterfully crafted entrees, the food is brilliant. Service is perfect: attentive but not overbearing. My only wish would be that they had full bar service for a pre-dinner cocktail."

  • "The ambiance was exceptional. Cuisine was very outstanding as was the service. The noise level was such that we were able to hear each other and understand our conversations.. Overall even though the prices are on a NY level, we had a very enjoyable evening and everyone was thoroughly satisfied with the food & service. I would rate this as one of the better restaurants in the area."

  • "We will come back because the food was delicious with amazing flavors and beautiful presentation. The service during the meal was very good, however towards the end it left a lot to be desired. For this type of high end restaurant, we expected top notch service from beginning to end. We probably waited 20 minutes for our tab, and when it was delivered, it was not ours. We then waited another 5 minutes to get the correct tab."

  • "I happened upon this fantastic place on the net for my son's 18th birthday. We were travelling in the US for 3 weeks and this was by far the best meal we had in Florida. Other places were recommended by locals but when I read the reviews on various sites the only one that had consistently positive reviews was La Maison Blanche. The food was excellent, the French waiter was knowledgable but not intrusive. This is a restaurant of the highest standard and I would suggest that anyone in the area take the time to make a reservation. Absolutely superb"

  • "We went to Maison Blanche for my wife's birthday. We had been there before and had remembered it as a fine experience. The appetizer and entree were superb. However two things seemed unusual there was a considerable wait between courses and despite the fact that flowers were delivered to the table prior to our arrival the fact of a special occasion was not noted until after the desert was served. Overall good food and a pleasurable experience but one only for special occasions at a cost of almost 100 dollars per person"

  • "We spent our anniversary here last week. Food and service were impeccable! The decor was not to my taste and disappointing. Draped in white curtains, uncomfortable chairs and no windows, it's too austere for the relaxed ocean atmosphere of Longboat Key. It feels too much like Christo enveloped the space in a temporary art installation or a restaurant in the midst of refurbishment. That being said, I would not let the decor deter me from returning. The wine list was excellent. I wish that there were a few more by-the-glass options. The food rivaled any I have had in France. It was easily one of the best meals we have eaten in Sarasota. We will return."

  • "We cant wait to go back! From the fresh bread and butter to the most beautiful desserts, we were wowed every step of the way. Our party of 6 ordered all different things, then shared with each other and couldn't even decide who's meal was the best!! Veronica and her husband have truly created a quiet, serene gem of culinary excellence on Longboat Key! Merci' beaucoup! !"

  • "We went for New Year Dinner. The restaurant is expensive but the food is OUTSTANDING. I believe he owner had a french restaurant in Paris of the same name that had a michelin star. I can not say enough about how innovative and superb the food was here. It took about 12 minutes after we were seated for a waiter to ask if someone was helping us. Once we were "assigned", the service was excellent and attentive. The only thing I found annoying about this restaurant was that the chairs were really uncomfortable - no back support. The ambience is quiet & romantic - there is no view as the walls are completely surrounded with white drapes. AGAIN, IT IS ALL ABOUT THE FOOD …. SUBURB FRENCH CUISINE - both traditional and innovative - your choice!!"

  • "As soon as we walked in we realized that this is a place for serious food and impeccable service. The chef impressed us even more with suggestions that weren't on the menu. La Maison Blanche is definitely the classic French restaurant not to miss in Sarasota area. Bravo!"

  • "Dinner and service were fantastic. Waiter was very helpful. I had the duck, and my wife had the chilean sea bass (special that night). Can't go wrong with the tasting menu but everything really seemed to taste good. Only knock against the restaurant was the limited wine list. I thought they could have expanded the domestic section in particular. Great night and good value overall."
