  • "When we arrived for our 6 p.m. Saturday evening reservation, we were promptly seated. There were very few guests in the dining room. The waiter took the order in a timely manner, drinks, appetizers and salads were served as expected. The main course took more than one hour after this and was brought to us only after we asked the waiter when we would get our entrees. His excuse for the late food was that he said he was waiting on other tables. Several guests arrived after we did, sat down, ordered, ate and left before we were even able to ask about our food. It appears that the waiter forgot about us. I was most disappointed in the meal and the service."

The service was exceptional; friendly, knowledgeable staff, who were happy to make recommendations and give thorough descriptions of each entrée. The food was impeccable! We had drinks, and they were completely superb. We were seated in a quiet part of the restaurant (which we loved), so that made our special evening even more wonderful. We will be back and have already raved about our experience to everyone we know! One of the best (if not THE best) dining experiences on the coast! Romantic, exceptional food, impeccable service!   • "We visited to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. We were greeted at our table with colorful ribbon curls decorating it. I feel confident that every employee stopped by to wish my husband Happy Birthday. The food was absolutely fantastic. My husband had oysters with caviar as an appetizer. It's 3 days later and he is still talking about it. I ordered the crabmeat augratin. It was far too rich for me to eat more than about a third of the huge portion -- but my husband enjoyed it too. It was absolutely decadent. My filet was grilled to perfection as was my husband's stuffed New York Strip Steak. For dessert, we were greeted with a special birthday molten lava cake. Special thanks to our servers Alan & Nick - you were extraordinary"

One of our favorite dishes was the catfish. Everyone should try that one. It was wonderful! The food was great! The service was great! We will be going back the next time we are at Harrahs Gulf Coast."

  • "Having eaten at Kelly English's other restaurant, Iris, in Memphis, we were very excited to try Magnolia House and even extended our stay on the coast to do just that. Unfortunately, while our dinner was okay, it definitely wasn't nearly as creative and interesting as the food we enjoyed at Iris. Perhaps the menu will venture out a bit as time goes on, but for us it was a disappointment."

  • "We went as a celebration for my wife's 40th birthday. The restaurant is beautiful with fantastic ambiance. Tasteful music and decor. The staff was so attentive and .add my wife feel very special. I mentioned when making my reservation on Open Table that we were celebrating her birthday, and the table was decorated, everyone that we encountered told her happy birthday, and she received a special complimentary dessert. The menu was a true representation of dishes featuring local seafood and produce. Kelly English is a culinary genius! We ordered appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts. Everything was mouth-watering delicious. All of the staff were knowledgeable, attentive and so friendly. The manager is one of the prettiest gals around!"

  • "A step up, yes. Friends and I had a night off and decided to try Magnolia House. Horseradish and parmesan roasted oysters were a delightful appetizer enjoyed by all. The cornbread muffins brought to the table were fun. Entrees included steak, trout, and hen, all three very good. Steak was a perfect medium, trout was nice, light and flakey. Server was knowledgeable and friendly. Service was right on time, with every plate brought fresh and hot. Our dinner experience slots in among the few other very good restaurants on the Coast. I would like to see the ambience warmed up quite a bit."

  • "This restaurant is a replacement for LB's Grill when it was the Grand Casino. The food was great. We were seated in a room to the right of the maitre d station and hey closed the door for a very quite and private dinner. Chef Kelly English has been greatly influenced by southern Louisiana cuisine and it is a really good thing! We had the crab au gratin and mirliton Casserole for appetizers and they were hits. For dinner I had the Gulf Tuna (rare) with lobster paella and really enjoyed it as well. Glad to see a terrific replacement for LB's Grill!"

It was wonderful, just as all of Kelly English's restaurants!! They fish was so fresh, it was amazing and the waiter and server were wonderful, very friendly!! Would highly recommend!"

  • "Went here to celebrate my Fiance's new job. Service was great; Debra was a real gem. Order the Market Soup which was the Duck Gumbo and it was delicious. I decide to try to Ribeye and it greatly lacked seasoning. The sauce that came with it helped a little bit but being a thirty year old that enjoys his steak.... this was a bit of a disappointment. She got the Filet and it suffered from the same problem; the butter that came with it was pretty good but the steak was barely if at all seasoned. For desert, I tried the creme brulee. It was different but the custard was way to thick... gave it a disgusting texture. I'm sure the seafood is better, the Flounder was out of stock then as it was a real hit with patrons"

  • "This was the second time I've eaten here in two weeks and it felt like a different restaurant. The first time, on approx May 19th, the food was spectacular. The crab cakes, the oysters, the salads and the grilled tuna were some of the best I've ever had. However, something has chagged since then. The crab cakes were not crispy at all and they were serve in a bowl like soggy ravioli. The oysters were, except one of the six was literelly the size of a dime and I can't figure how a preparer would include that one in the six. The tuna was still of very high quality, but it was much smaller then the cut from 2 weeks ago and the paiella had 2 tidbits of lobster and had no flavor."

The food was incredible and all the staff wanted to assure that you had a very pleasurable dining experience. The young man was quiet patient with all our questions and recommended a very nice wine.   • "First off you should know this restaurant is somewhat expensive for the average diner. $200 for two, including the tip. Having said that, I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys fine food. We made reservations for my husband's birthday and were extremely pleased from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. The staff and our server Brent, were outstanding and unobtrusively efficient. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. I had the oysters on the half shell for my appetizer, they were topped with caviar and cream and I wished I had ordered a dozen rather than just half a dozen. The main course was just as exotic and scrumptious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, it was a night to remember."

  • "Was super excited to get a table the opening weekend after much hype. Ambiance is southern, decor and layout felt like it was a converted southern home. Service was a little shaky even though we were early and it was quiet. Waiter was a little 'dithery' and unsure. Ordered the much hyped catfish and it came out as basically sushi. I'm guessing that was un-intended, but maybe not as when I sent it back, it came out almost black (breaded = not good), so felt like they were sending a message. Also no mention of this was made on the check or as an apology, so sort of felt maybe it was supposed to be raw ??? As foodies, we will go back and put it down to opening hiccups (though we saw the chef visit a table, so know he was in the kitchen .)"

  • "From the time we entered the restaurant there appeared to be a disregard for their guests. The sraff was not properly trained to proper service techbiques. The steak we ordered was to be cooked medium well but was just shy of rare in a large portion of it. When we asked that it be recooked it was returned to us just as rare but burned on the bottom. Although they comp'd our steak I think they should have comp'd the entire check. We have been there 5-6 times this year and have had an unpleasant visit each time. This was the last chance they ill be given to improve."
