Diner Reviews
  • "It was a great night - the food was terrific and the Rob and Helen their staff was up, efficient and smiley."

  • "Since Feb my wife and I have been here 5 times, taken her parents once and twice brought other couples. We love it. Food is an incredible ever changing menu of Italian delights. The antipasto plate might be my favourite in the city. The service is always super friendly, knowledgeable and never pretentious. If you love wine they have an excellent selection and on Tuesdays all wine is 50% off. A truly wonderful dining experience through and through"

  • "A truly outstanding restaurant. Service was great and the food was the best we had in Toronto. Sardines are a must have whether you think you will like them or not."

  • "We chose to come back to Enoteca for our last dinner in Toronto and it didn't disappoint. Thanks Madison for your suggestions, dry humor and connection - a big factor in our great experience. Four cheese and Nonna's Veal meatball pizzas were off the hook, along with any sorbet, gelato or dessert. Thanks again for being a part of our great time in this lovely city."

  • "We truly enjoyed our experience at L'Unita Enoteca. Wine list is great, the 4 cheese pizza with prosciutto was just about perfect, and my daughter loved her tagliatelle. The desserts were superb as well. What makes this place great is the relaxed, food-first vibe, and the attention from the excellent staff. We are only in Toronto for 4 days and were going back here for our last night."

  • "That staff was very friendly and helpful. They knew their customers by name and treated them like guests in their home. This is a great neighborhood restaurant, that we stumbled on to, because of open table. This would be one of our favorite places if we lived here."

  • "First time at L'unita, was very impressed with quality of food and service. Dessert was spectacular."

  • "Great selection of options throughout the menu. Loved the specials focusing on the wild leek- delicious! The rocket and caesar salads were fresh and plentiful. The cavatelli pasta with octopus was fresh and had just enough spice; the grilled branzino and lamb pasta were also excellent. Wait staff attentive with drinks, water refills etc."

  • "Best caesar salad ever - and divided well in the kitchen - Rob was terrific as was Hayley"

  • "The main area of the restaurant was filled with people but our greeter took us to a hallway with about 4 2-seater tables lined against the wall. The hallway led to the kitchen but the ambiance was nice and semi-secluded. Server was cheerful and helpful - she had the chef plate our pasta dish into 2 dishes when she knew we would be sharing the pasta. Calamari appetizer was excellent. Rib pizza was very good. Dessert was nice (especially since I'm not a dessert person) - chocolate truffle cake with candied pecans. Will definitely dine here again!"

  • "Since my wife and I moved into the area in Feb we have been to L'unita 4 times. Each visit has surpassed the last. The Grazing plate is always new and playful. They have an excellent wine list and the menu is fabulous. I have tried a different item each time covering pasta, pizza, chicken, and beef cheeks. All were delicious. The wait staff is friendly, timely and knowledgeable. I would recommend this place to anyone."

  • "A small and well executed menu of classic and innovative Italian dishes. Very good wine list."

  • "Great food and environment. Nice twist on classic italian dishes and very creative menu. The ambience was fantastic. Very cute restaurant perfect for romantic occasions, celebration dinners, or catching up with friends. The decoration was very unique and the restaurant volume was perfect, some noise but quiet enough that you can have a conversation without shouting. Will definitely be going back!"

  • "Everything was very well done. I dream about their sardine crostini and the octopus with homemade pasta was perfectly made. My husband was equally happy with his carbonara. The people next to us raved over their beef. $160 for two people is a bit of a treat for us but it was well worth it as the food was excellent."

  • "This was our first time at this little spot in the Annex area. What a find! Amazing food - you have to try the Anipasta platter to share. Unbelievably good. Everything was outstanding from the greeting at the door to our friendly, but not overly intrusive waiter, to our amazing delicious dinners. We will definitely visit this great restaurant again. The ambience is great, but busy and vibrant - a little on the loud side if you are looking for a quiet evening."

  • "Decided to try L'unita on the advice of some friends. Made a reservation through OpenTable. We arrived a little early for our 8:15 reservation and were greeted promptly and had a seat at the bar for drinks and appetizers. The vibe is modern neighborhood Italian - very warm and comfortable room, with good energy. Service was friendly and attentive. The food - And I am picky - Was excellent. The cod appetizer, the short ribs, simply delicious. I was equally impressed by the Krombacher Beer on tap. Not the first beer you'd expect to see at a neighbourhood italian place - But it was poured properly, stored at the right temperature and very fresh. Thanks L'Unita. We'll be back."

  • "Went there a few months back with friends to celebrate a birthday. The found and service were both outstanding. They even put a candle on the dessert (unrequested, the candle that is). So decided to go back with other friends. Again, flawless service, superb food (we ate too much; the food should come with a warning that you'll be tempted to order too much). The dishes they serve are not (for the most part) the traditional fare of Italian restaurants in Toronto - they mix up the ingredients and present known dishes in a different way or combinations you'd had considered before. And it's always nice to not feel rushed and on a Saturday night no less. Definitely would go again and recommend it highly."

  • "Food was great, waitress was nice and had great recommendations. Antipasto was delicious but overpriced for what we got."

  • "Nice staff, server was attentive. Food was quite good for our group dinner - often these types of meals can be complicated and annoying. We had a great time and enjoyed the whole experience."

  • "Had dinner with a friend on Thursday evening. Split pea soup was perfectly seasoned, crisped speck a great accompaniment, as was a focaccia slice. Grilled fish had crisp skin, and a marinated root salad on top was so good, I wished for a big bowl of it!"
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "Staff were friendly and accommodating, and food was creative and appetizing. Unwanted hair in one of the fish dishes Waiters were embarrassed and made billing adjustments. Some noisy patrons ruined what was otherwise a pleasant dining experience. Staff unwilling to moderate rambunctious behaviour of some young male birthday celebrants who were loud and profane. Pity. Fine Italian style food at reasonable prices. Impressive wine list. Would return for sure - but be wary of the drinking louts."

  • "Great for a good night out with a friend-upbeat, attentive service, melt-in your mouth breads, antipasto plate is awesome for two to start, pasta cooked to perfection, banana cake dessert to-die-for. Spoil yourself and go here!"

  • "This was my first time at L'Unita after having passed it many times. I thought that they had a good variety of choices and the meals that my friend and I had, were both excellent. The restaurant itself is very cosy and you can easily have a conversation with the person(s) you're with. The service was attentive and prompt. Our only complaint was that we were seated right by the entrance which we immediately asked if we could sit somewhere away from the cold, however we finallly moved tables after a few requests. I would have given it a five star but that little glitch made me give it a four. If you go, definitely ask for a table along the left wall with the sofas and not by the door entry. At least not during a cold Canadian winter."

  • "A group of four friends meeting for delicious food, conversation, and service. We were very pleased with the food and, especially, the individualized, accommodating service. When they turned the lighting down so much that it was difficult to see our food and its lovely presentation, they turned it back up! Our request for a quiet table was also honoured (to the best of their ability)."

  • "A very good Winterlicious menu--generous proportions, good choices, good service--plus half-price bottles of wine on Tuesdays as an unexpected bonus."
    Dined on 2/4/2014
  • "Four of us ate from the Winterlicious menu ($35 for dinner) and it was without a doubt the best "licious" meal I've had. Recently, the franchise has fallen on well-deserved hard times with sub-par food and sloppy service abounding. L'Unita has restored my faith! I had the arancini, which were perfect, and the braised lamb shank, which was also divine. The polenta was so creamy it tasted like mashed potatoes. The tiramisu donoughts tasted a tad stale to me, but having had so much great food already I didn't mind. I had enough leftover for a lamb sandwich the next day! An extra special secret about this place is that on Tuesday their whole wine list is 1/2 price. You don't see this sort of thing in Toronto NEARLY enough!"

  • "Had a great meal very nice service. Tuesday is half price wine night which was a wonderful treat. Great place"

  • "I have been to L'Unita Enoteca a few times now, and the only thing that surprises me is... well... how they can still surprise me. The food is always top-notch (a mix of classic Italian dishes that run the gamut from North to South with a few saucy contemporary twists thrown in the mix), the service cannot be outdone by even the finest of dining establishments, the wine list carefully curated, and the decor/ambiance is the perfect pairing to any meal. We dined as a group of seven for Winterlicious with a packed house and never once felt as though we weren't being looked after. L'Unita has charm and a quiet sophistication juxtaposed with a convivial clientele. What more could you ask for? Seriously, make a reservation for L'Unita. Now."
