  • "This was our first time here and can't wait to go back. We sat outside on the patio and received excellent service from our server Adolfo. he was very attentive and gave us a free brownie dessert which was amazing!!! The Linguine with shrimp was out of this world delicious and my picky teenage daughter absolutely loved the summer cob salad. All in all this was one of our better forays as we eat our way thru Orange County."

  • "My family and I ate for the first time at Lucca last week. My kids enjoy quality food and were treated as guests which I appreciated. We tried many items starting with a cheese and meat tray, lamb chops, large stuffed Ravioli, pork tenderloin and more. Everything was tasty. We will definitely going back in the near future."

  • "We had a great time at Lucca. We went for lunch and sat outside, the weather was nice and that helped too. The service was very friendly and ready to suggest or explain the menu. Once the food was brought to our table we did not see the server again until he offer the dessert menu, yet he was attentive to other tables around us. The food was great, very tasty and reasonable size plates. The prices were a bit high but since the food was so good it was well worth it. We all liked it a lot and would recommend to anyone to visit."

  • "Love the dinners at Lucca but you really cannot have a better lunch, either. Stopped in since we were in the neighborhood and had a wonderful meal presented with impeccable service even though they were extremely busy. Thank you Adolfo (sp?) The salmon special over the house made penne with a Vodka sauce was perfectly seasoned and cooked. John declared the Certified Angus Beef Tri-Tip and Havarti Cheese Sandwich made with Marinated Certified Angus Beef Tri Tip Steak roasted to medium rare, sliced and served with Havarti Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Oven-Roasted Tomatoes, Organic Lettuces and Mustard Sauce the best Tri Tip he has ever had. So glad that Lucca retains the highest quality in their ingredients."

  • "This restaurant is a breath of fresh air from the ho-hum corporate chain restaurants that dominate Irvine. The food is fresh, not ingigantic portions and comes in tapas style or more traditional entrees. The spot is great too, particaulrly as we took a late afternoon hike along the Quail Hill trails just up the road. An excellent end to a two-hour gentle hike in one of the few undeveloped spots left in Irvine. The eclectic wine list is well worth exploring."

  • "LUCCA is a great place away from the hustle and bustle. It's in Quail Hill and a bit of a neighborhood gem. Food is decent and they have an excellent wine selection. They also have a deli and takeaway counter. The service is great."

  • "We usually go to Lucca as a couple and have always loved the food and ambiance. This time we were with a family group of 11, and were pleased to see the experience there was just as good, though different due to the group dynamic. We were placed at the far end of the patio where we were able to interact easily without disturbing other diners. The food was fabulous as always, and our server was very helpful and accommodating."

  • "Have been to Lucca's on several occasions and this one did not disappoint. Food is truly farm to table fresh and there was not one complaint among the 9 of us. Truly delicious in all ways and the wait staff was on point as usual. The only thing missing is spirits, though the wine and list is eclectic enough to satisfy most palettes and pairings. Thanks for another wonderful evening! "

  • "It's a casual neighborhood restaurant with decent (albeit under-seasoned) food made from good ingredients. There's nothing wrong with that, but the prices are 30% higher than either the ambiance/service or the food merits. They need to either step up their game to justify their prices or lower their prices to a level more befitting of their game. "

  • "I don't know what happened to Lucca cafe today. We've been here multiple times for lunch and dinner, but tonight was a disappointment. Food was so bad I don't even know where to begin (we overhead other tables complaining) and we're too nice to say anything. Took 30 mins to get our wine. One member of our party didn't even get his food until we asked. As for the food, probably the worst we had in years. Ok, granted that you don't put anything under the heat lamp, but one person in the party got his food 30 mins before another person? If you are short on staff, don't take more reservations!!"

  • "My book group decided to meet here as a change of pace to member's houses. Wonderful waitress - very attentive. Food was terrific. Our table had everything from pancakes to salads (we were there at 11am on Sunday). I had been to Lucca's before for dinner - nice wine list and small plates so Sunday brunch was not a sure thing. Well, now it is!"

  • "Second time at Lucca last night. Its one of the better places in all of Irvine. Very good European style food, nice apps, charcuterie and small plates, and our service was great. The waiter explained that they don't keep food warm under heat lamps to arrive at the same time, so there was no expectation of that. I would have preferred that they time the meals by starting them at the appropriate time so they are ready at the time time, but at least we knew how they work so we had the right expectations."

  • "Although we were a party of 4, the servers made no attempt to coordinate the arrival of our entrees. Two arrived first, the ravioli one already cold. 5 minutes later came the third entree, but we had to flag down our server, who was busy wiping glasses at the bar, to ask when the fourth dinner might be served. What's the protocol for lifting one's fork in such a situation?"

  • "We had brunch this past weekend at Luccas. our previous dinner experience last year was marked by poor service but we decided to give them another chance. After placing our order, it was at least 45 minutes before our entrees appeared. My friend's french toast was cold and needed to be sent back. It was a challenge getting a refill on our drinks. never again!!"

  • "First time dining at this restaurant and, I must say, that the first impression was excellent! The food was fantastic and the waiter did the one thing I asked on my OpenTable profile, to be attentive to my daughter. A very simple request but, surprisingly, only a total of three restaurants have actually gotten it right so far. The food here is fabulous. I never would have expected it but, we decided to try this restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised. We will definitely be coming back."

  • "This was a pretty good deal on restaurant week. The starters were great -- the French Onion soup was AMAZING!! The salad was delicious too. I was a little disappointed with my entree choice of the sole because it came baked in crumbs which I was not expecting. My boyfriend chose the pork chop -- much better! We both had chocolate creme brulee for dessert and it was just ok. Didn't even finish mine - it did not have the nice crackly crust on top I love so much. A good creme brulee can make me moan -- but that did not happen here! The service was just OK -- they were VERY busy. I will go again when it is not restaurant week to see if the food/service is better."

  • "Had a pre fix meal on the last day of restaurant week at a birthday lunch for 6. Sat on the covered patio. The food was delicious - hearty vegetable soup, a grilled Scillian albacore sandwich on chibatta and tasty lemon square for dessert. Didn't leave a scrap! My second visit to Lucca. The service was not up to par this time. Not sure if they were understaffed or? But it took a long time to get beverages, order and food. But I will be back - definitely tasty."

  • "I don't know if Lucca was having an off day, but our service was sub par and slow and the sandwiches we ordered came out on soggy buns. Plus, I couldn't taste the lamb on my sandwich because it was overpowered by both lemon peel comfit and some sort of tapenade. This was our first time there for lunch, and I am not sure when or if we'll be returning."
