A word from Lorenzo's Trattoria
Lorenzo’s features Northern Italian fare with a touch of contemporary flavor. Look to our menu for some of the classics as well as some modern Italian cuisine less prevalent on The Hill. Look forward to experiencing the authentic house-made gnocchi and risottos; or our signature dish, braised Osso Buco; our guests' ever favorite, Chicken Spedini; or a couple of the staff favorites, the Poached Alaskan Halibut or Fabulous Veal Picatta.

At Lorenzo's the atmosphere is classy and laid-back. It is the type of restaurant where you can have a nice business dinner or enjoy a meal with the family.

We offer two beautiful private rooms, The Boardroom, which seats up to 14 or The Chefs Table which seats up to 8. You may choose to enjoy our patio on a beautiful day and savor one of the great Italian wines off our extensive wine menu. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable no matter what meal or day you visit. We look forward to showing you all we can offer at Lorenzo's Trattoria.

Diner Reviews
  • "Delightful evening so we ate outside and, as always, food was delicious and service was perfect!"

  • "The food & staff were fabulous! Very glad to find them open on a Sunday!"

  • "We go to Lorenzo's often for special occasions - the food is wonderful and the staff is excellent. Cody was our waiter on the most recent visit and he is delightful."

  • "I have felt for a very long time that the restaurants on the Hill in St. Louis are overrated. Lorenzo's reminds me that there is at least one good option below the Giuseppes/Dominic's price point. We visited there on a Friday night with two friend and everything was outstanding. My friends could not stop praising the server's sense of humor and knowledge (not often you find an effective server in an Italian restaurant with a southern accent, but he was outstanding). Our entrees and salads were outstanding and the deserts went very fast. This is a great option on the Hill. I only wish they were open for lunch!"

  • "Risotto and Tortellini dishes were excellent. Even though we have a lot of good choices in St. Louis, Lorenzo's is becoming one of our favorite places to go for a celebration. It's a little pricey for us to go often, but for a special night, the 25 mile drive is well worth it."

  • "great experience; had private dining room in kitchen; very quiet yet service was excellent...food was delicious!"

  • "I have dined here for at least 10 years and decided to go for our anniversary. The servers/staff was especially attentive and nice and offered us a complimentary chocolate cake w/hazelnut gelato for dessert for our special dinner. Food was AMAZING....mussels, gnochi, house salad, chicken speidini. Highly recommend."

  • "Good Italian food in the wonderful St. Louis Hill neighborhood. Service was excellent. I love Osso Bucco and Lorenenzo's version was great. One dining partner had veal picatta which he enjoyed and other two diners had pasta. Everyone enjoyed their meal! Lorenzo's now owns a gelato place just a short walk away. Yummy!"

  • "And we have eaten here about 30 times, Lorenzo's never disappoints. The menu is a little different from the typical Italian restaurant. Tonight, the crab cake appetizer special was outstanding. My wife like the chicken spedeni, though tonight she had the steak entree, which was perfectly cooked with an interesting potato "basket". Highly recommend Lorenzo's, nothing else on the Hill compares."

  • "I chose this restaurant based on reviews and the fact they took reservations. Being from out of town we traveled from seeing a show and did not want to chance a long wait for a table. The hostess was glad to see I had the printed confirmation in hand and recommends that if your service is used. We were seated promptly and enjoyed a wonderful evening with friends. The service was attentive but not overbearing and the food was as good as promised in the reviews I had read. Like most places on the Hill the restaurant is small, quaint and had a family feel. There were several items on the menu I would have liked to try. The bread pudding was a fabulous end to a good meal: one serving with four spoons put an end to a very enjoyable feast."

  • "It was nice, quiet, and had great service. It was a special occasion for us but also saw a family of 6 (very well-behaved) having dinner next to us so it's a nice family place as well."

  • "by nothing but lack of attendance. This place is great but was only half full, at best, at 7pm on a Friday night. That's not right!!"

  • "We have dined at Lorenzo's maybe 20 times. The ambiance is nice for date night or double dates. It is fairly quiet so you can talk. In the past the entrees have been very good (not outstanding, but very good), and dependably so. When we were there on Sat night I had the Baramundi, and it was acceptable. Fish was not seasoned, but there was a caper berry sauce on top that was good. The spinach under the fish was too large of a portion, and had no seasoning. There was a small brick of Polenta that also could have used some seasoning. I don't think any of us were blown away with our meals. Lorenzos is not inexpensive, but had the food been as good as in the past, it would have been a good value."

  • "My wife and I had a delightful early Saturday evening at Lorenzo's. Cool, pleasant weather so we sat outside. Had reservation for 5:30 because we had theater plans for later. Seated immediately. Not rushed to order once we had our drinks. Let us set the pace. When we were ready, waiter told us the specials and then gave us time to decide. Food came out quickly. It was wonderful. Plenty to eat. (I boxed up a bit of the entree before we left.) Again, never rushed, even though the place was filling up quickly. In short: excellent food, excellent service, pleasant ambience, friendly staff. Felt very welcome and our patronage appreciated. It was my birthday and they provided a chocolate treat gratis. Happy memories."

  • "The Hill in StL is a well known Italian neighborhood full of great restaurants and night spots. Hard to pick just one, but you can only eat one dinner per day so we had to choose. We chose wisely. Lorenzo's is very inviting. Great layout broken up into several dining rooms. Great menu, wine list, service. Highly recommended. "

  • "We checked reviews on several sites before settling on Lorenzo's. By using open table, we were able to get reservations, plus the staff was made aware of our anniversary. The food was great and all of the staff was very attentive. Plus getting there and driving around the Hill is great fun as well. We'll be back!"

  • "Went for post graduation dinner with a small party (5). Waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Service was excellent. Recommended wines for table that were well received. Food was outstanding the entire table enjoyed everything. Setting was comfortable, not overly stuffy. I would recommend to anyone. "

  • "We were celebrating one of our guests birthday which I noted when I reserved the table but it was never acknowledged. We were sat in the center of the extremely well lit room and felt like we were on display. The service was slow. The food was bland. We were wanted to have dessert but the bus girl came and strip our table and made us feel like it was time to leave. Our waiter took way too long to ask if we wanted any dessert then took even longer to get out bill. It was not a relaxing dinner and drinks as we planned. We felt like cattle being herded out to make room for the next group. "

  • "I recently had dinner with my daughter at Lorenzo's Trattoria. The service was excellent and the food very good. The Caprese-style tomato salad was wonderful, even though it is not really tomato season. The raspberry gelato also was exceptional. The room we were in was very quiet, making it easy to converse. All in all, it was a very nice dining experience."

  • "Had a marvelous Italian dinner. The food presentation was very nice and made the food look so very appetizing. We had a reservation and when we arrived it was crowded but we were promptly shown to our table. Be sure and save room for dessert. The gelato was "perfecto" as good or better than we had in Rome three weeks before. Will definitely return. good food lover"

  • "Went with a group of six and all loved their dinner. It has consistently been good every time I have been there. We were able to sit in a private room that was in the kitchen. It was very cozy and would ask for it again!"

  • "We ate here for the first time and found the dishes to be very flavorful. I had the barramundi and my wife the pasta bolognese which she loved."

  • "We love your ambiance and the pictures of Venice and various other Italian places. The main thing for me when there is more than 4 people, is to have a round table so that all 6 of us can really talk. We were able to get one and it made our evening wonderful for all to catch up. Everyone enjoyed their meal and one couple had not been there before."

  • "This wasn't our first experience at Lorenzo's, but it was one of the best! They gave us a private room in the kitchen that was perfect for the 6 of us. It was quiet so we could all catch up without disturbing people around us. The food was incredible. I enjoyed gnocchi that was cooked to perfection. The sauce was a combination of cheeses that was not overly rich. Another in our party had a pork osso bucco that fell from the bone. We enjoyed 2 wonderful wines, an amaroni and a cabernet that we chose with the help of one of the wait staff. The choices were perfect for everyone. We will definitely be back to enjoy another dinner there. I highly recommend reserving the private room if you have 6-8 in your party."

  • "What a lovely experience we had at Lorenzo's! It was our daughter's 20th birthday and we had an excellent dinner. Highlights of the meal were the homemade spinach gnocchi (the lightest I've ever had) and the mushroom ravioli. We had mentioned her birthday on our OpenTable reservation and our request for something special was honored with a delicious dessert with birthday candle. Thank you for all the attention to detail. We will definitely return."

  • "Food was good, but not great. Salad soggy. Salad served before appetizer."

  • "Everyone from start to finish was attentive and friendly. We have been here several times and the wait staff we had before stopped by to say hello and thank us for coming in. The food is equally great. We each had a dinner salad. My wife had the chicken spedini. I had the veal and risoto and a friend had the salmon with totelini. We shared a piece of dreamsciile cheesecake. I wished I had ordered a cheesecake of my own. It was all wonderful. The ambience is casual, yet upscale and a great place for just for dinner or a special night out. I highly recommend it."

  • "I love the ambiance of The Hill. As an out of towner, the restaurants aren't great but certainly good. Lorenzo's is one of the better Hill options. Nice interior and good servers. The food is good too (not over the top great, but really good). Service was very good, knowledgable and food was served in reasonable length of time. Open Table made a last minute decision very easy."

  • "We were sent to Lorenzo's by a waitress at a breakfast spot in Soulard on our first visit to St. Louis in 2005. We have returned each time and have not been disappointed. Great pasta dishes and consistent quality Northern Italian. It does not get the publicity of other restaurants on the Hill, but gets great reviews from locals. Service is a bit stiff for a town that has the friendliest service in the U.S."

  • "We've been to Lorenzo's three times now - this was the first time on a Sunday. They do a great job with fish. This time we had a Snapper special. We also got the eggplant and kalamata olive penne pasta, which was absolutely excellent. They split the house salad for us and brought our daughter a Shirley Temple with lots of cherries and a couple of refills. She had a pepperoni pizza, which she liked, although it had a lot of outer crust. Service (Joe) could not have been better. Our only complaint was it was a bit loud, something we had noticed before. Still a nice restaurant for an occasion or date night, just that the volume makes it a bit less romantic."
