Diner Reviews
  • "By far Fletcher's has the best brunch in the Twin Cities. There is a huge and varied amount of food to choose from--cold (half dozen salads, cheese tray, assorted veggies, cold shrimp and cocktail sauce , salmon, olives, fruits, etc), warm (eggs Benedict, walleye, hash browns, sausage, bacon, French toast, stir fry, pasta, carved prime rib, omelet station, 2 soups, waffle station), breads and cookies and bars and cakes and pies and a chocolate fountain with food to dip. Service is friendly and prompt. My only complaint is that while OJ and a mimosa are included in the (expensive) price, coffee isn't. Come on! How cheap is coffee and you know, many people want it!"

  • "It's great eating inside in the cool days. Fireplace, nice "porch" atmosphere. The summer brings out all the boats. The casual food served outside in the summer could be a little more imaginative. But it's great overall."

  • "I love to go to the Sunday Brunch. I find the food choices interesting, tasteful and divergent. My husband thinks it odd that Brunch offers only Eggs Benedict or an omelet, but I so enjoy the other offerings that I don't care about that. The prime rib is delicious, and paired with the mashed potatoes and veggies, well, let's just say it's hard to not go back for more. Beyond the food, I love the views from the porch. While we dine, have watched an eagle and fishermen, as well as a pond hockey game."

  • "We celebrated my 69th birthday on 3/9, and the brunch was great. Our server was very friendly and efficient, making stops for coffee, water, etc."

  • "We came for brunch and were there a little over one hour. Hash browns were out both times we went up, as well as, smoked salmon. Staff said they'd put more out but we did not see any smoke salmon in that hour we were there; hash browns came and went once. Bacon was rubbery and sausage was very greasy and tasteless. Wild Rice soup tasted like biscuits and gravy versus wild rice. Eggs benedict were dry (needed more sauce). The fish cakes tasted like a microwaved item. Desserts were good but only one of us ate them. It's very dark where food is displayed. Waitress did not let us know if drinks were included in cost of brunch or if seniors and kids were less expensive. Disappointed in the food. Not worth the money. Wouldn't come bak for brunch."

  • "We had an early dinner here (5:30) on a Saturday night and were able to sit by the fire. The bread and butter came right away -- crispy outside crust, warm inside, salted butter, great flavor -- and we ordered a glass of wine. The waitress understood that we wanted to sip on our wine for a while before ordering dinner and left us alone. The menu was somewhat limited - steak or fish with a few pasta dishes - but enough to choose from. I had had the Walleye on a previous visit, and found it not very flavorful and somewhat fishy. So, I chose the New York strip and my husband had the fillet - both delicious. For sides we had the fresh veggie medley and split an order of au gratin potatoes, which I would highly recommend."

  • "Loved celebrating my birthday at a Lake Minnetonka treasure. Many were kept away on the icy night . . . but instead, we braved the weather and went anyway. We had lovely seating and watched broomball in the crisp winter night. Lovely evening, delicious food, great service, warm atmosphere."

  • "Ambiance and service were great, but the walleye and salmon left something to be desired. For $30/plate I would expect something a little more flavorful."

  • "Valentine's day also happens to be our anniversary. We really like Lord Fletcher's because they don't over burden their special occasion menu with menu items that need to justify their high prices with overly creative entrees. My wife had their famous walleye and I had a great NY Strip. The menu was ala carte but sides were only $2.00. Seating was timely, our server was super and the bus help was attentive. Would highly recommend for special occasions but dining room, deck, dock and bar are all worth the trip."

  • "We always reserve a table next to the windows for the beauty of Lake Minnetonka . From the friendly hostesses to the professional servers we always feel welcomed and appreciated. We like the Early Bird Catch because of its good value. My Martini was perfect! My husband enjoyed his Walleye, but the salads were tired this evening. My steak was a little tough and tasteless, not like the delicious ones in the past. The usually tasty Au gratin potatoes seemed a little runny but the vegetable medley was crisp and good. A complimentary slice of the Mud Pie( with a lighted candle) for the birthday boy was a pleasant surprise and we enjoyed sharing it. Thank you so much! We will return but hope that the food is up to its normal standards."

  • "Very disappointed in out dinner. Was recommended to try Lord Fletcher's to take my parent's out for their birthday. Started out with both my mom and I getting the wrong drinks, salad considerably overpriced, and then got charged to share it with my husband, really? 2 out of 4 steaks were not cooked to order, potato was obviously reheated and the server was average. When a person spends $300 I expect they should know when to come back and take your order(not when you're still looking at your menu) and they had better know who's food is who's...they had know idea what went where when bringing our food out. I'm sick that we spent that much money and had such a horrible experience/food. We should have just went to the Wharf!"

  • "Beautiful restaurant with traditional decor. Most tables have some view of fireplace and/or lake. Waitress was attentive. Ala carte, so cost can add up fast. They do, however, have well-priced early bird specials. My son was completely happy with his meal, 14 oz sirloin steak and broccoli, well seasoned. My walleye fillet was nice but the side dishes were disappointing. Creamed spinach was leaf spinach cooked in cream, soupy. If seasoned, the seasoning was too subtle for me. I am used to a thicker consistency with a hint of nutmeg. Parmesan, dill mashers were over mashed (that smooth, gluey texture) and dill too light. Beer choice was lacking, no dark beer among selections. Odd for winter in Minnesota."

  • "Nice restaurant for a very special occasion but way to expensive. When you order your entrée, you only get the meat potion of the entree. No salad, vegetables or rice. They offer salads, a house for $8, side dishes (12 different) of vegetables and rice that range from $2 to $5. So, if you order a "Walleye Dinner" for $25, you only get one lonely piece of fish and a lemon wedge, no dinner! Add a salad ($8) and some asparagus ($5) and rice ($2) to make you meal complete(Dinner)... your Walleye dinner is really a cost of $40.00! Not to mention the cost of having an appetizer, glass of wine and dessert. Way over priced. I think it would be more ethical to list the "Walleye Dinner" as a "Walleye Filet" or a "Fish Stick!" on the Menu under sides."

  • "We'll be back for the happy hour sometime. Upstairs, not so much. Fish (walleye) and au gratin were cafeteria level only. Still we had a good time there."
    Dined on 1/13/2014
  • "We had not been to Lord Fletcher's for years, and found the experience unexciting and expensive. Their specialty, Walleye, is now $25, but comes with no side dishes, all must be purchased, no salad...so it quickly becomes an expensive choice for average food and service. Not a disaster, but I have no desire to return"

  • "My wife and I went to Lord Fletcher's as part of our weekend stay in the western metro area. I had the 8oz filet, which was cooked perfectly (medium) with a generous blue cheese crust, and au gratin potatoes. My wife had the special, which was lamb with mashed turnips and green beans. My food was very good, and a decent value at $45. My wife's meal was sub-par, due mostly to the intense and somewhat competing (not complimenting) flavors of the turnips with the lamb - which was served with a herb yogurt sauce. We split a piece of carrot cake for dessert - which was excellent - and we each enjoyed a cup of decaf coffee. The service was fine, but we were a little suprised by the atmosphere, which was more casual than we expected."

  • "The noise here was so unbarrible. We were unable to communicate over dinner. Food was perfect, but not sure I'd pay the price again over the noise. For leaving a $16 tip, I feel our waitress could have been more leading on the subject. Plus, after watching her, a man had asked for coffee to drink with dessert, yet she never brought it, but checked back with them before bringing the check."

  • "We've had brunch at Fletcher's many times in the past and were a little disappointed this time. The shrimp was scarce, the Caprese salad had little to no buffalo mozzarella and the eggs benedict had no Canadian bacon...they must've been low on supplies."

  • "The brunch was not impressive Oak Ridge Conference Center has much better brunch and we will not be returning to Lord Fletchers again. The food at the brunch was a bit cold also."

  • "Three of us went dined on a cold Saturday night. Two of us had the famed walleye and one had the special - red snapper with chipotle aoli. I am particular about walleye having eaten it freshly caught and home prepared most of my life. Lord Fletcher's walleye had more flavor than some restaurants' but I still did not taste that sweetness that fresh walleye has. My baked potato lacked the fluffiness inside and crispy peeling - more like a steamed consistency but the broccoli medley was fresh and tasty. The snapper special was excellent - tasty fish and excellent sauce. The wine list was high priced - we enjoyed the Chinon we ordered but at $49 it was one of the least expensive. Service was excellent."

  • "My wife and I visited Lord Fletcher's for dinner on New Year's Eve and had a wonderful experience. As usual the service in the main dining room was fantastic. We started with the rabbit meatballs with ginger slaw which was the first I had seen them at Fletcher's. They were very good, especially when eaten with the accompanying slaw. We split the house salad with the fantastic house poppyseed dressing. For our entrees my wife had the seabass and I had a ribeye. Both were perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and delicious. On a night when restaurants are very busy, Lord Fletcher's performed very well from the prompt and sincere greeting at the host stand to our night cap cocktail in the pub."

  • "I've been to Fletcher's many times on the Wharf in the summer and always had a great experience. My intention was to check out the formal dining space and get a feel for the food and wine inside on New Years Eve. My mistake. We were first seated in the bar area at a table 3 feet from the kitchen entrance where the servers kept running in and out of as they would open and close a loud accordion door. I asked to move....the hostess said " I don't blame you that's a horrible spot" ....knowing that, why did you seat us there?? The waitress took forever to greet us, the drinks took 15 minutes to make it to the table, the item on the menu I wanted to try was "out" ....why didn't you tell me that when you came to explain the menu. Food was bland."

  • "Fine dining is not found in the lunch Buffet the small size of the buffet should in sure staff/kitchen could keep it filled On my 2 visits I had to ask staff to refill the buffet so I could eat. On my last visit I had to scrape the bottom of the soup pot in order to fill 2 of the 4 bowls , found staff and requested they refill, then waited (7 min) for a refill as the other half of my party had their soup. Beautiful dining room nice view good service"

  • "This restaurant is located on Lake Minnetonka and has lovely views. In the summer it's accessible by boat and has a dockside bar and casual dining area, and is a great place for people and boat watching. The indoor dining area is pleasant both winter and summer. The prices are somewhat high given the mediocre quality of the food. The chefs have a heavy hand with the salt shaker, which unfortuneately overwhelms whatever other spices are used. The pan-fried walleye is almost always good. Whenever I have ordered anything else, I have been disappointed. My husband and I have dined at this restaurant many times over the last 30 years. It's a good place to take our visitors for the "Lake Minnetonka experince" but don't count on great food."

  • "My wife and I have beem here on several occasions and have yet to be disappointed. The food is always spot on. In the summer, they have one of the best outdoor patios in the Metro. If you havent checked this place out, put it on your list!"

  • "In the past, Lord Fletchers had the best filet mignon I had ever had---you could cut it with a butter knife, if was so tender. Not so this time. It was a little underdone and harder to cut. I also found out that all I was getting for $33 was the meat, and that each side was now $2. I thought that was bad enough, but, I had asked for a 'loaded' baked potato, and I got a good sized potato with a tiny bit of cheese and fake, crunchy, bacon bits, with a small cup of sour cream on the side. I asked for more sour cream, so I got one more small cup of it. For this scantily 'loaded' baked potato, I was charged $6.00!! Totally not worth it. I won't be going there for dinner again. I'm willing to give the Sunday Brunch one more try, though."

  • "Have always enjoyed Fletchers over the years and decided to go to the main dining room recently for a birthday celebration. As we had not been upstairs for awhile, we decided to do a little investigation. Read some reviews that were not very complimentary, but decided to find out for ourselves. Both my wife and I came away with a very good experiance. We both selected from the specials that night and were very pleased with how everything was prepared. Service was attentive but not over the top. Wine by the glass selections were ok. Would like to see a few more upper selections. Maybe a wine preservation system would help. Very good price point on specials. We will not wait as long next time to go back to main dining room."
