A word from Lola - A Michael Symon Restaurant
Celebrity Chef Michael Symon, along with Executive Chef Joe Swan, lead the culinary team at Lola. Michael's talents in the kitchen eventually led to several Food Network shows including the popular Iron Chef America. Symon is a two time nominee for "Best Chef Great Lakes", by the James Beard Foundation, winning that honor in 2009. Symom has also been recognized in Food & Wine Magazine's feature "Ten Best Chefs in America."

In the heart of Cleveland's E. 4th St. neighborhood, this "local jewel" features stunning decor and sustainable American cuisine. Highlights include, beef cheek pierogies, impeccably prepared meats and seafood, inventive desserts and an extensive wine list featuring over 400 selections.

  • "We went to Lola with a large group for a birthday party. As a result we were able to sample the majority of items on the menu. There was not a single unsatisfactory dish. The absolute standout was the ricotta gnocchi appetizer. After leaving the restaurant having had many appetizers, entrees and desserts the ricotta gnocchi was literally the topic of conversation for the rest of the night. I won't waste time describing, just order it! Other notable items include the pork chop (and I hate pork chops), rib eye and 6am dessert."

  • "My wife and I have been driving from Pittsburgh to Cleveland twice a year for the last five years just to go to Lola. The bread was fantastic. My steelhead was a little over but the recipe was wonderful. Never had anything but first rate service."

  • "As a fan of Michael Symon we drove the 3 hours just to dine in his restaurant. The experience did not disappoint. Our starters, the pierogi and the gnocchi were wonderful and our entries, the hanger steak and the pork chop were incredible. The desserts sounded better on the menu then they were in actuality. Bet we were so full by then that might have played a part in the disappointment. The wine list was very diverse and had some great inexpensive offerings. We shared a delicious Riesling for under $30. We were fortunate enough to have a great view of the kitchen and we really enjoyed watching all the action on a busy Saturday night. Eating at Lola Bistro was on my bucket list of adventures and I have to say I was not disappointed."

  • "I was meeting my old friends for a late lunch before wandering around town and taking in a show. We got reservations for the last seating for lunch at 2:30. My friends arrived early and were impressed with the drink list and the very friendly and helpful bartender. When the rest of the group arrived, we were seated promptly in a nice round table where we could all talk. Two of my friends ordered the trout, something they had never had before, and they cleaned their plates. Lola burger, turkey sandwiches, and beef cheek pierogi were all outstanding. They brought out a 'happy birthday' plate and dessert for my friend with was wonderful....as were the other two desserts. It was a delicious lunch and we all left full and happy!"

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful meal at Lola. The food was the star. The ricotta gnocchi melted in my mouth. My husband had the beef cheek pierogi appetizer and it was excellent. Our main dishes of lamb and sturgeon were amazing. Little noisy for me, but there was a large party and that probably affected the noise level. Our waitress was really helpful and friendly."

  • "The Beef Cheek Perogies are a must have appetizer if dinning here. I have had multiple plates from the menu and they have exceeded my expectations every time. I had the Moulard Duck and my wife had the Lamb Shank, both were cooked to perfection. Make sure to order/ask for a good wine to pair with this dinner."

  • "Ever since moving to Cleveland all I heard was how you had to dine at Lola. Finally booked a table and while there was nothing wrong with the experience it was certainly not spectacular. As I said in my title, maybe the buildup had been too much so I was expecting one of my top 5 dining experiences of my life and I can't say it even made it into my top 25. Decent prices, decent food so if you expect that maybe you'll be happy."

  • "We've come to rely on Lola for a truly exceptional experience, and once again, our expectations were met. We ventured out and ordered the "crispy pigs ear" appetizer -- probably wasn't our favorite, the texture was a little odd, but we were glad to have tried it. I had the duck, which was amazing, and my husband had the sturgeon -- served more like a seafood stew -- and he also loved it. And we ordered a side of Lola fries -- NOT TO BE MISSED! If I have any complaint, it is that the tables for two are very close together -- little privacy. On the bright side, were seated next to a delightful couple -- we enjoyed their company and even shared our Lola fries with them. Definitely a pricey evening, but worth the splurge."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed the restaurant very much. Service was impeccable, the quantity of food was better than expected; I ordered the pork and it was more than enough surprisingly. My wife ordered the scallops, usually you get 3, but there were 5 on the plate-so that was a surprise too. The food tasted fantastic and the bottle of wine that we shared was price perfect. Tiffany provided us with exceptional service-what a joy to have her take great care of us. Thank you Tiffany. My higher expectations were met in every way. We will be back as soon as we can."

You absolutely must splurge and give this place a whirl. The chefs table was highly recommended and clearly where the action took place. Chef Symon should proud himself in his Well Oiled Machine he has in the kitchen as well as front of house. Very Pleased . Will return soon!"

  • "We went with our friends and had a very nice evening. I had the Georgia Mule cocktail with vodka, lime and ginger beer - it was delicious. I also had the butternut squash soup with smoked bacon that was so smooth and creamy and the bacon added just the right flavor. My friends had the gnocchi appetizer which just melted in your mouth. For an entree I had the hanger steak, was good, but owing to the cut of meat, a little tough. It comes with Lola fries (fries cooked in duck fat to melt in your mouth). For dessert we had the Milk and Cookies and Carrot cake both of which were good, but unusually prepared - think breaking the elements down and minimizing them. Good service, a little noisy, but overall a very good experience."

  • "My wife and I are very familiar with Michael Symon and expected in all honesty to be blown away by the flavor and taste of the food. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Don't get me wrong it was good but it didn't leave me wanting to come back. My wife had the sturgeon which was cooked beautifully but really lacked any flavor in the dish. There was Chorizo sausage in the dish which was an awkward addition to such a great piece of fish. It really didn't add to the dish and almost seemed like an after thought to try and add some flavor. I had the scallops which were cooked again to perfection but even with all the different "flavors" on the plate it still lacked a wow factor and came off a little bland. I would come back if invited."

I can say without a doubt that the food is some of the best I've ever had and I'd like to qualify that by saying I've eaten at 3 Michelin star restaurants.   • "Loved the beautiful brown wall finish upstairs. Great service. None of that "Hi, my name is Fred,and I'll be taking care of you tonight". To that question I'd rather like to answer, I'll have a massage. Beef cheek pierogi was delicious and the smoked pork chop was superb though I would have like to see a portion of green vegetables on the plate as an accompaniment. Great sauces! My husband raved over the lobster app and the sturgeon plat principal."

  • "This is a really good restaurant. We've eaten here several times. It's one of the best in Cleveland. The food is outstanding, the spirits and wine list, via iPad, is extensive and moderately priced. The service is always professional , but as per previous visits, too pretentious and stiff. Party of 4, drinks, 2 bottles of good wine and dessert makes for a pricy evening with tip. Please make me feel that my business is appreciated. Cleveland is a weekend town. If there is no event during the week, prepare for total shut down at 10:00PM. Stiff service and a ticking clock proved to be a bad Tuesday night combination. Go from good to great Michael Symon! Or, perhaps this is my issue and I should be grateful just to get a table."

  • "I know Michael Symon is not known for vegetarian food, but I happen to have not eaten meat for 25 years! The person I went with, however, is a huge meat eater. So we really went for her. I was surprised and happy to find a delicious gnocchi appetizer that had no meat, and an agnolotti as a main course that was completely vegetarian. Both were excellent, and the server was very knowledgeable about which items were vegetarian (the sides, for example, are... but the french fries are not). In terms of the meat dishes, they looked and smelled fantastic. The person I went with raved about her pork chop. Our server, Aurora, was awesome. Oh yeah, and the fudge round for dessert was also excellent. Oh yeah, and the Manhattans also. Go eat here!"

  • "We made an extra stop on our way home from NYC for my 25 birthday. I always wanted to eat here, and I am so glad that we made the trip. I had the mac and cheese, and it was fantastic. The goat cheese, rosemary and chicken all work so well together. Their new buttermilk dressing is light and divine. My parents had soup and sandwiches, and they raved about how good it was. The only drawback is that Lola is a little on the pricey side. I knew going into lunch that our meal would not be cheap, so I was not surprised when the bill came. I think that the food is fantastic, but be prepared to pay a bit more than normal or perhaps congruent to the proportions."

  • "the food, drinks and service by the waiters and bartender was absolutely outstanding. The service by the hostess was far less than desirable. The weather was awful (blizzard like conditions) and my wife asked the hostess for the number of a cab company. Instead of providing this she called a limo service and were informed it would be about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the limo arrived and as I and my wife were getting into it in the slush and water covered street the hostess informed us than it was for someone else. My wife had seen the people that took our ride approach the hostess well after us. I again asked for a taxi number with no assistance. I called my hotel who arranged for a ride rapidly. Hostess had very poor attitude."

I sat at the chefs table, and got to see the kitchen in action. Very cool! Our server, Terry, was outstanding!!! The food? Out of this world! I'd recommend (and have been!) Lola to anyone&everyone!"

  • "My wife is a big fan of Michael Symon and really wanted to go to lol as I was skeptical because of a less than great experience at emerils years ago . She was right this time the friendly staff and great food made this our best dining experience in quite some time. The waitress was friendly, sweet, and knowledgeable. The ipad wine list seemed scary at first but in a few minutes I loved it.the calves heart were cooked perfectly and quite a surprise as I had never had calves heart before, don't be scared of the name it is delicious and any meat Eater will love it. The duck my wife had was also perfect and the small taste she shared with me was impressive."

  • "Lola's is one of the most beautiful restaurants downtown. We sat at the bar and had drinks and appetizers until our table became available. The bar stools are comfortable with back support and the bar's back wall is made up of hundreds of wine bottles; absolutely gorgeous. Our service was courteous and prompt and our food was delicious. I will be more adventurous next time and order the marrow. Our waiter described it as having a taste like the fatty part of a steak...Yum!"

From our appetizers of gnocchi with truffles, foie gras and Ono crudo to braised lamb shank, smoked pork chop and steelhead trout, everything was so delicious. The Lola fries, which we finished every last crumb, we're perfect. Our desserts were just as good. Sharing everything made it even more fun. Our server, Tiffany, was great."
