Diner Reviews
  • "We met a friend here for an impromptu dinner. The food was quite good and the waiter was very responsive."

  • "Everything was amazing. Service was attentive. Didn't have wine, but there was a good selection available."

  • "This is an amazing restaurant. The ambiance, the unpretentious staff, the inspired beverages, and of course, the ah-maz-ing food. My duck confit salad was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and perfectly fresh. My husband's elk filet was also completely amazing with the super-fine coffee 'dust'. We sat at the bar actually, because the vibe was even more laid back and we were taken care of completely by the knowledgeable and attentive bar tending staff."

  • "Very accommodating; great service; excellent food!"

  • "It was "okay" not great. The food all seemed previously frozen, nothing fresh. They turn those tables over fast!"

  • "Great food and service. I would come here anytime I'm in Jackson."

  • "My wife and I were looking for a great food restaurant devoid of the cowboy clichés and actually have a great local meal. We found it in the Local. It was very good. Both Carol and I had the Elk and it was wonderful. The wine list was good. Try it you will like it."

  • "Great food, menu was very original. Price was right for the location and the great food. Waiter and Staff were super."

  • "Food is outstanding, the buffalo tartar was great as well as the large portion of Elk Medallions. The cashew bark in the chocolate tasting dessert is the best ever. Comfortable atmosphere, wonderful presentation of food, server answered all of our questions and was great. Would definitely come back"

  • "Burger was expensive, but probably the best I ever had."

  • "For steak enthusiasts, the 32oz Dry-Aged grass fed Ribeye is a must try. They may have six different steak sauces to compliment the meal, but you don't need the condiments as the cut is very flavorful alone. But if beef's not your gig, definitely get the Pork Shank. Not a big fan of swine, but very comparable to a well-known Filipino dish ("crispy pata"). As for families, I highly recommend making reservations. Dining area was already full by 6pm."

  • "We really never complain but our entrees were cold. Our server gracefully took our meals back to the kitchen. Ten minutes later a different server brought our food back to us reheated...a steak, cut, reheated and returned to us. The trout reheated was DRY!!! We sent the food back again asking politely for new entrees and to speak to a manager. When she finally came to our table she was confrontational, rude and extremely defensive. She called us rude and basically liars. She said we had offended her and her kitchen staff and that she is the owner. The Chef came out and asked "how do you like your re-plate?" Seriously, we have never been treated like this before. "

  • "Local is relatively new to town. It is a bit pricey, but then again, not much more than most places. The food and service is awesome! Been there twice now and can't wait to go back next time the budget permits!"

  • "We've been to Local several times and loved it. A friend recommended that we sit in the bar. We did and we will not do it again. The high noise level came and went as groups arrived which we noticed because it took an hour to get our dinner. Patrons at the bar were served in 10 - 15 minutes-we watched them come and go. As always, the food was great. We will return but not to the bar."

  • "We ate here for an early dinner and happy hour. I highly recommend the burger. Oh my gosh, it is good. Make sure you mention any deals you are wanting to use when you order. We went there because they had BOGO on entrees during the off-season and were told after being charged for both entrees that we were supposed to mention it before-hand. They still honored it, so that was a plus. This is a great place for a date night. It is quiet and has a very romantic feel to it. "

  • "We visited Local because they were offering an off season discount. The restaurant was busy but we found it easy to get a last minute reservation. The food was very good and I appreciate the vegetarian option on the menu. "

  • "What can you say about a place that has mastered the art of cooking steak - or anything on their menu for that matter. We have tried steaks and game at every restaurant in Jackson that claims to be a "steak house," and all have failed in comparison to the meals we have loved while dining at LOCAL. Although a bit spendy, at the end of your meal, you are left with the feeling that it was well worth every penny. After many expensive, disappointing and some embarrassing meals at other upscale restaurants in Jackson, LOCAL is now the only fine dining restaurant we will take our guests. Now if we could just find an Italian restaurant that is half as good as LOCAL, our search for food heaven would be complete! Thanks again LOCAL!"

  • "Food was delicious. Definitely get the pork belly wedge salad. Tim the server was awesome. Elk medallions were very good but I think the braised short rib was better. Great place overall!"

  • "Local, WOW great Jackson restaurant right on the Town Square. Local is owned by the same chef's that opened Trio An American Bistro back in 2005 and trio is still one of the best restaurants in town. You can't miss dinner at both Trio or Local when in Jackson."

  • "As a resort town, Jackson has some superb restaurant options, but none finer than Local. Great in-town location on the Square. Easy walk from most downtown hotels (which is our preference). Food was spectacular! Get the Elk Medallions. Served with puréed sweet potatoes and a Huckleberry Demi-glacé. Scrumptious!! We come to Jackson every year - generally hitting our short list of favorite restaurants. Local is now on our "must-do" list."

  • "We love eating at Local but on our last visit I was disappointed. As we were enjoying our soups and salads out came our main courses. It was quite obvious that we were still eating but the servers just started clearing and moving thing around. We were not asked if we were done, nor if we were even enjoying our food. So there we were with our main courses in front of us and we had no silverware or steak knives. We sat there for 5 minutes and then finally someone realized what was going on. Then came our side dishes and nothing to serve them with. At least our food was good, although a little on the cold side. I'm tired of spending hard earned money on mediocre service. So, Local, get with the program if you want to make it in Jackson Hole."

  • "The food was delicious. Ask for the steak to be done just a little under to what you prefer. The food is sublime. Simple. Decadent. Every morsel was enjoyed. The gratuity bread is so-so which surprised me as I was hoping for a hearty homemade or local loaf."
    Dined on 3/2/2014
  • "The sides are among the best I've ever eaten - you can easily make a great meal for $12 by ordering 3 sides as a main course, with leftovers, to boot!"

  • "Very popular and busy but for good reason! Even with a reservation we waited 20+ minutes. The food was the highlight especially if you like beef, bison, and elk, BUT they have so much more including Oysters Rockefeller which we love. Four of us shared three sides and it was plenty. The caramelized cauliflower was the unanimous favorite of the three but all were great. Also enjoyed the cocktails. Great evening!"

  • "Great appetizer menu including choices of local meats and cheeses in just the right portion. The ribs and elk sausage pasta were outstanding . We ate in the dining room but the bar scene looked worth another trip just for the fun."

  • "We were warned by a few locals in Jackson that LOCAL is more for 20s and "energetic"= noisy. We were worried, but the dining room was very chic, civil and polished. Was it because it was the valentine's day? We loved everything -food, ambiance and service. Menu was amazing that I had a hard time deciding. I decided on tuna 3 ways and Elk medallions (my first Elk!), and my husband had buffalo tartar (yum!) and wagyu beef. We loved everything but, my husband decided the Elk was the best. After we left, they called me on my cell to tell me I had dropped my credit card. I was impressed they acted so quickly on a very busy night. If this was in NYC, they would have stored it in a drawer and waited until I called. Thank you!"

  • "The ambience, location, service, and menu are fantastic!!! Best pork chop I've EVER had!"

  • "The food was excellent - we had the Elk Medallions and the Trout, both fantastic. Our waitress was pretty terrible though. We sat there for a while before she came to take our drink order, she seemed annoyed and whenever she spoke to us she was looking around the restaurant, never at us. I think it was just her though - the other waiters seemed to be very attentive to their tables."

  • "Jackson is such a great foodie town and this was one of our highlights. Loved the selections for the charcouterie. We let the waitress make the picks and it was awesome. Loved my trout entree, fish cooked perfectly, not crazy about the sauce it came in. Chocolate caramel mousse was outstanding, comes with too-die-for truffles."

  • "I enjoyed my meal at Local. They have lots of interesting variations of meats and local produce on the menu."

  • "Local proved to be one of the best restaurants that we have ever visited! The food was amazingly fresh and tasty with a plethora of choices! A simple hamburger was a taste explosion and one of the best we ever had. One of the best dishes I have ever had anywhere was the Pheasant Pot Pie which was perfectly cooked with a soft, flaky crust that was not overwhelmed by butter, the Pheasant was tender and moist and the consistency was perfect, not too thick and not too thin! The interior is very warm but modern and the service was very attentive and courteous! Our only complaint is that it is not in our home city!"

  • "I went with a small group of five and we were not disappointed. Two of us ordered the Elk Medallions. Two shared the 32oz ribeye, and we all shared sides of brussel sprouts, mushrooms and cauliflower, and a charcuterie plate for an appy. The only let down was the cheeses we ordered - not fresh enough and over dry. The elk was excellently paired w/ sweet potato and huckleberry. There was a great wine selection of which we had a couple different bottles that went well with our meals. I tried a bite of the ribeye and it was excellent, as were my elk medallions. Loved the sides."

  • "The elk medallions were cooked to perfection, also enjoyed the Charcuterie the smoked trout, pheasant sausage and elk sausage was delicious. Whoever was cooking the "special" bone in Rib Eye that night must have put it on the grill and went on a break. Rib eye was over cooked and tough!"

  • "Really enjoyed our first meal at Local. Found it on Open Table and gave it a shot. We'll go back on our next trip. I highly recommend the pheasant potpie and the burger was also outstanding."

  • "We celebrated our anniversary at Local and loved it. Food and service were superb, the mixed cocktail was delicious and the wine list was extensive. Would definitely recommend and return to Local."

  • "What a fun ending to watching the Sled Dog Races launched in Jackson and then a short walk to Local, where we were immediately seated with our Open Door reservation (whereas many tourists were waiting for a table to open). The waitress was helpful with praising our choices, food excellent. The window table was a bonus, watching passersby and the ice skaters on the Square. Our two complaints: tiny menu text very difficult to read and the noise level became very extreme making it difficult to talk to each other."
