  • "Line & Lariat is located inside the beautiful hotel icon, and we had a superb early Saturday evening meal. The jalapeno cornbread was delicious, as was both the lamb and ribeye. The dress ranged anywhere from very casual to very formal and everyone seemed quite comfortable in the elegant dining room. We really enjoyed it!"

  • "There were 2 other tables with people. This was 6:30 on a Friday night. The food was mediocre and nothing special. The waiter only had our table so he hovered next to it during the entire meal. He was almost impossible to understand due to a heavy Asian accent. Ona a side note, the upstairs bar was closed for a private affair and seemed to be a lot of fun!"

  • "We enjoyed dinner at this place after seeing a show late Sunday afternoon. It was a very pleasant, romantic experience."

  • "We purchased a Travelzoo Coupon and enjoyed the food, the service of the main waiter was not very good. but the assistant waiter was excellent. The waiter could not speak english very well and was very hard to understand, We presented him with the travel zoo coupon We ordered exactly what was on the Travel zoo coupon, at the end of the dinner we were presented with an 80+ dollar check which we perceived was the full amount of what the dinner what cost, so we left a moderate tip and left for the Valet to receive our car. Another waitress ran after us saying we did not pay the bill which was embarrassing for there were other patrons around, we told her we gave the coupon to our waiter and since we prepaid for it, the Bill was taken care of."

  • "We went for an early Saturday dinner before a concert downtown. The food and the restaurant were awesome, our waitress, not so much. We waited for about 15 minutes until she came to our table. Meanwhile another waiter had been back to his table 2 times. We ordered a bottle of wine and also said that we were ready for our food order. She told us to hold on. She was gone for another 10 minutes. We saw her carrying our wine bottle around to other tables before she made it our way. She poured our first glass, way over what a normal glass of white should be. Then she left to find an ice bucket still not taking our food order. We finally got our food but we managed to miss almost the entire opening act. But the food was good!"

  • "Went on a Monday with my boyfriend for dinner. We shared the Mini Campechana. It was very good and fresh. I ordered the pan seared scallops. I was impressed with the size of the scallops and grilled to perfection. Great combination with the Texmati rice and mushrooms. My boyfriend ordered the rack of lamb. Delish! For dessert we ordered the dark chocolate cupcake. I was not impressed with this. But I did like how they wrote Happy Birthday on the plate (I briefly mentioned earlier that it was my boyfriend's birthday). Great detail. The service was excellent. I was extremely pleased and my boyfriend had a wonderful birthday dinner."

  • "Affter much deliberation, this was a last minute switch based reviews spouted great acclaim upon this restaurant. And they DEFINITELY delivered. Wait staff was very attentive. Ambiance and decor was very nice. Food was AMAZING and out of the world. The cerviche is a must have; I'll go back just for that. The lamb chops, even well done as my wife requested, was too good for me to not assist her eating --great aroma, great taste, nice light char. And my pan seared scallops with some sort of creamy rice with mushrooms was unique and very, very tasty. I couldn't have been more pleased. For dessert,, the Gingerbead pig (cookie) with ice cream was good. Bu I'll try another dessert next time. As you can tell, we can't wait to go back"

  • "Elizabeth provided great service. We had an early dinner and left to go to Theater Under the Stars. She was very attentive and made sure we were out in time without feeling rushed. I had the lamb abd my wife had the. Both were excellent. The wine prices were reasonable."

  • "The food and the ambience are absolutely great! The valet receipt has a text feature so you are not waiting forever for your car. The attendant texts you when you can come out. The service has work to do. There was not a lot of people and it took forever for the waiter to comeback to the table to check on us. The food was also slow to come out...otherwise it was great!!!"

  • "I really enjoyed my meal at Line and Lariat. The filet was perfectly cooked. I had the cupcake with a chocolate covered jalapeno pepper surprise and ice cream for dessert. The formula #4 cocktail also hit the spot."

  • "The service was a bit disconnected - three people seemed to be managing us, with very little communication amongst themselves. It was a very big night in downtown Houston with the Eagles Concert and other Art Performances occurring. No one ever asked if we were on a time limit. I had also indicated that it was our 10th anniversary when making the reservation, but that seemed to go unnoticed. My food was mediocre at best, but my husband did enjoy his steak and said it made up for the lower level hotel experience we were having."

  • "I was disappointed mainly with the quality of the food. My pork tenderloin was dry and not that tasty. My husband said his fish was just OK. The restaurant is really just an extension of the lobby/sports bar. I did not like that. To advertise as an upscale restaurant, it did not deliver."

  • "Decent atmosphere, quiet. Decent service but nothing spectacular. We used the Prefix menu for the night. Food is/was way overrated, at least at the price they are using."

  • "Overall very good but there was no indication that they had a special Valentine's menu when we booked or when they confirmed. My wife was disappointed because it did not include a regular menu item that was one of the reasons we made the reservation."

  • "I cant believe how bad it was.. It was so bad you want to go back just to get your mind around it"

  • "The appetizer was adequate and the steak was overlooked and had a large amount of fat, which is odd for a filet. It seemed to be a poor grade of beef. I could not eat the desert, as it was very dry and flavorless. Based on the restaurant's reputation, I expected a better experience."

  • "Had Valentine's Day at Line and Lariat. We celebrated the day before in order to beat the rush, so maybe that's why it was so quiet. Wait staff and management were all friendly and knowledgeable. Great wine list (and the moscato was great). Food was simply divine. Though from where we were seated, the floor would tremor every time the light rail went by (but you couldn't hear it). No fault of the restaurant, nor did it bother us. Figured I'd include that in case anyone wants to know. When I used Google Maps app to find the hotel, it took me to UH-D, which is a good few blocks away. Boyfriend's phone did the same thing. Don't know what Hotel Icon could do to change that, or if it's more of an Apple problem. Called hotel for directions."

  • "Lackluster. Inattentive service other than the bartenders. Unadvertised fixed menu that was just as unimpressive as the waiter serving it. Bread was forgotten and never offered. They could have reused the plates. Water was not filled until the check was dropped. The worst tip I have given a server in 5+ years, and he earned it."

  • "What a gem of a hotel/restaurant! Formerly a stately 1911 bank buiding, the Line & Lariat occupies the broad expanse of the lobby area. The wait staff could not be more courteous or attentive. The food is deliciously prepared and presented, with variety infusing every dish. It was a dinner to remember!"

  • "Food was really good, you're sure to enjoy anything on the chef's special menu which my wife and I both ordered from. The waitress was nice but she was the only waitress in the restaurant so she could only be so at tentative. The restaurant is in a lobby of Hotel Icon so it's not exactly a romantic place for dinner. The food makes up for it all but don't get all swanky and feel bad once you get there"

  • "Trying to support the downtown. Beautiful location and history, but service and menu were so so. Might be better at lunch. I would give them another try as could have been an off night. Appeared to be only one waitress."

  • "Beautiful ambience, easy to valet park, excellent value on the prix fixe menu. An out of town friend visited and we wanted a place where we could dine at leisure and hear each other during conversation. The food and wine were wonderful, the decor elegant and colorful. Its often difficult to find a nice place that accommodates the hard of hearing. We will definitely go back."

  • "Great location and convenient parking, we had no problem getting a table on Friday nite. Everything was very good. From the assorted muffins & breads to the Mac-n-Cheese, it was a pleasant surprise and a hidden gem in the confines of an old time bank converted to a restaurant with ambience and a bit of romance."

  • "The waitress knew nothing about the wine list; the ribeye was barely edible; our table was wobbly - they tried to fix it but it still wobbled but they never offered to move us to another table"

  • "Food prep was great, the chef wanders around talking to customers and getting feedback. A bit pricey, but, hey, this is Houston, and energy is booming. Nice layout, circular bar brings everyone together. The bartender was a little stuffy, thought he was on the Left Bank, but added to the ambiance. I ask for the Salmon to be red rare, and it was delivered perfectly, and sushi grade. Nice presentation. A cut above a typical hotel lobby restaurant."

  • "Ambiance of restaurant is nice because it is redone beautifully. Very excited for dinner. The e Wait staff was boring, didn't know the menu and incredibly slow. There were maybe 2 other tables full in the place and it took over 30 minutes to get an appetizer and 1 full hour to get dinner. Just way too long and the waitstaff is nowhere to be found. The food when we finally got it was average at best but certainly not worth the price. We will not go back and it's too bad because it could really be a great restaurant if someone just tried with it a little."

  • "We had been to the bar before and really enjoyed the experience. We wanted to try a new restaurant to celebrate New Year's Eve. We expected a restaurant in the heart of downtown to have an air of festivity. It did not. They had a set nye menu but no special cocktails for the occasion. The food was really good. We'll probably stick to bar from now on."

  • "I'd dined here before for a friend's birthday when it was Hotel Icon. So, I was looking forward to another great meal with impeccable service. We were one of three tables in the entire dining room. We were given tea and water out of over-flowing, wet glasses. We asked twice for menus and were finally given food stained, photo copies of a preset Christmas menu. My guest didn't want beef and requested a lunch/dinner menu. There was no mention of a limited holiday menu on Open. Salads were merely chopped iceberg lettuce with very little dressing. Items that were brought to or table were literally shoved at us as if our presence was inconveniencing the server. There 20 mins and charged full price for valet. The servers were wearing blue jeans!"

  • "This place was terrible. We went for my birthday. Reservations were at 7. They seated us right away, but it took at least 10 minutes for the waiter to get to our table. We waited on our waters and wine. The one piece of food we did get was our appetizer and that was not even good. We placed our order finally and after being there for 1 1/2 hours, we still didn't have our food. There was only 4 tables in the restaurant including ours. Our waiter didn't seem to care about his job. I asked what he recommended on the menu and basically everything I asked him about, he didn't recommend it. He said it was all bad. We had other plans to meet people so we paid for our bottle of wine and appetizer. I will not be back to this place."

The manager came by to see if we needed more drink, but he left and forgot us. It is the holidays.. Wish they wouyld have comped the parking, too. Overall, will return again."

  • "and a dead atmosphere. We went there before the symphony because other restaurants were booked. Now I know why. It was dead quiet, the service was poor and the food really just not good at a high price. We will never go back or recommend this restaurant."

  • "Food was was ok but ruined by poor waitress service. Service was slow and waitress seemed annoyed to be there. even though restaurant was almost empty we were seated close to the bus station and after being asked to be moved we were told only manager could change a table and we didn't have time to wait for the manager.food took a long time to come but then all three courses came out together.all in all even for a hotel lobby restaurant it was a disappointmentthe only bright spot was the pastors support staff they were very nice and attentive which was needed considering how for the waitress service was"
