  • "Walking through the door one is transformed back in time to the glory of fine dining. The service, the selections and ambience impeccable! We had the best pate and duck confit outside of f France."

  • "As I tell my out of town friends coming to visit, this is the most civilized place to dine in Chicago. Dovetail that with attention to detail, no request being any trouble and perfectly prepared courses now by Chef Roland, the evening continues to be nothing short of a 5-star dining experience. Mary Beth is welcoming as you enter and depart, making you feel as if you dined in your own home. High quality French dining without the attitude. So many items of the price fix menu, a recommendation is hard to make. One option, split a cheese course and then a desert, or simply just order the soufflé."

  • "The best French restaurant I have ever enjoyed and I have been to Paris!!"

  • "I surprised my husband for his birthday to dine here and he loved it. The food was outstanding and the shrimp/lobster salad was very good. He ordered a cocktail and it was made just the way he liked it. We have no complaints and I can't wait to recommend this place to others. The menu is Prix-fixe: Four Courses $115.00, Five Courses $130.00. From beginning to end restaurant was outstanding."

  • "Our dinner was outstanding. I enjoyed going to a quiet, intimate restaurant that requires a sport coat and everyone acts like adults. The food and service were great. We will return."

  • "Maybe you are rich enough to spend $115 for four course dinner every day - definitely we do not fit in that category. But we do enjoy good food and occasional splurge. And that's what this is. From the hostess to the server - everything was impeccable. And the food portions are very satisfying. Foie gras was excellent and the soufflé. Duck was cooked just right. I guess the bread basket could improve. Presentations are visually pleasing. Well paced dining experience. This is a place for mature classy patrons - so do not expect Paris Hilton but maybe Warren Buffet."

  • "The service was gracious and unobtrusive but yet attentive. Presentation was nice and the servings were larger than normal than what you would expect. The dinning room was quiet and is great for a romantic dinner."

  • "Very good food. Risotto was amazing, the fish cooked to perfection. Welcoming staff. Will come back next time I am in Chicago."

  • " Food, ambiance, staff, first class from the moment you enter until you leave. SInce they knew we were celebrating our anniversary, the chef prepared a cake with candle and the plate in frozen chocolate Happy Anniversary! This was a special event and a golden memory."

  • "We came to Les Nomades to celebrate our engagement. It was extremely intimate and lovely. The food and wine were delicious. We really enjoyed our experience. The only note is that it is mostly a fixed price menu, although they do offer a la carte options. "

  • "Well established place with excellent service and food. Two menue options allowing for a 4 or 5 course dinner and given the quality of the cooking well worth the price. Not for everyday but a special place. "

  • "My husband and I went for our anniversary and we had one of the best meals of our lives. Each of our 4 courses were delicious and the service was impeccable. I'm a pretty tough critic and I have nothing to complain about! "

  • "As stated in the title, our dining experience at Les Nomades far exceeded the meals we've had at several Michelin starred restaurants in Chicago. This was our first visit and my wife and I enjoyed an outstanding dining experience from beginning to end. The dining room had a quaint, understated, yet elegant charm, and beautifully decorated. The waiters were extremely attentive, professional, and extremely knowledgeable of the menu. We felt the service was outstanding. Each course was perfectly prepared, presented, and served. We both had the four course option. Particularly outstanding dishes included the soft shell crab, warm lobster and shrimp salad, duo of roasted veal and lamb loin and the crème brulee. Wine service was also excellent."

  • "I was delighted to go to Les Nomades. It's reputation is excellent. Service was as good as any two-star Michelin I have been to in the United States and France. The food, however, was uneven. The sautéed foi gras was superb. The cold foi gras was not. The cheeses were excellent. The salads were not memorable and the dressing overpowering. The fish was over-cooked. The sweat breads were not palatable. Meat dishes were excellent. Desserts were on the whole very good, especially the classic grand marnier soufflé."

  • "One of the best fine food restaurants in Chicago. Creative, delicious food and impeccable service. Fixed price menu - expensive but worth it. Great for a special evening. Try to souffle - special. "

  • "My husband and I dine at Les Nomades every time we are in Chicago. It has been our favorite restaurant for over 20 years. The food is fabulous French, the service is everything you expect, and the atmosphere is absolutely lovely. It is the way fine dining should be. The most difficult part of the evening is trying to decide what wonderful foods to eat. All of the selection of items on the menu sound so good."

  • "We went there for our anniversary. We found this restaurant by accident as we walked by fro our hotel W. I then looked it up on line and realized what great potential there was. We did not really understand until we went there how truly life-altering our evening would be. This was amongst our top 5 meals of all times. Everything about the evening was perfect except it had to end. "

  • "Probably the best French food we have had outside France itself. How this has been overlooked by Michelin I do not know! We couldn't fault a thing; the staff, the menu, the wine list, the 20's/30's France feel to the decor . . . etc. Nice that they had a dress code (jackets for men), a restriction on cell phones & photography and a request for quiet conversation. Perfect! "

  • "I recently had dinner at Les Nomades to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. What a wonderful experience! The food was outstanding and the service very well done. Couldn't have asked for more! I look forward to going back."

  • "I've been to all the top restaurants in Chicago. This was my favorite because every single course was consistently outstanding. Often at the high end restaurants, some courses are amazing while others are just ok. Each course here was superb! We even ordered a course called asparagus three ways. I thought it would be boring. In fact, it was one of our favorite courses. Neither of us had ever tasted asparagus like that. It tasted like lobster. The service was excellent, and they were great about accommodating my food allergies. I can't wait to go back! "

  • "Charming homey setting in the Gold Coast area. Very expertectly prepared and classically presented French food. "

  • "We enjoyed the beautiful presentation of delicious French food. My husbands martini was served in a beautiful, depression era martini glass. Other serving pieces were lovely as well which added to the service. There were several bountiful arrangements of roses to set the formal mood. Staff Was attentive and knowledgable. We will definitely be back!"

  • "We've been eating at Les Nomades for several years on special occasions, and while the restaurant continues to offer inspired cuisine and attentive service, our most recent visit was disappointing for a restaurant in this price range. For the second time in three months we were seated facing the service area. Our principal waiter displayed some attitude when we lingered over coffee, and we had to hail the valet parking attendant from a nearby restaurant, and then wait 10 minutes for our car. Again, nothing terrible, but not the attention to detail we expect, and have experienced in the past, from Les Nomades."

  • "Les Nomades was excellent. The waiter seemed a bit too 'high brow' and intrusive. He seemded to be eavesdropping. Would we come again? YES."

  • "We made an early dinner reservation for a Saturday night to celebrate our wedding, and notified the restaurant of our recent nuptials in advance. We loved the decor and the ambiance. The dining room is elegant and inviting, yet still offered privacy to each table. Our server was friendly without being intrusive; he knew the menu well and offered suggestions. The sommelier was knowledgable and cordial. We chose the four course prix fixe. Each course was unique and well prepared, adequately portioned and wonderfully plated. The highlight of our evening was the dessert course. We both enjoyed our ordered dish, but the kitchen prepared a special torte for us with "congratulations" inscribed in chocolate. We left satiated and happy, not stuffed."

  • "One of the best restaurants I've been, the food was creative, very delicious, and surprisingly interesting. We went for the fix menu and we had an amazing experience. Definitely will go again."

  • "Les Nomades' reputation is certainly deserved. I took my husband there for his 50th birthday and we had a fantastic experience. From our first glass of champagne to the last bite of soufflé (mine Grand Marnier, his hazelnut), we were treated to a culinary delight! Appetizers included escargots (reliably garlicky, slippery) and fois gras (sautéed perfectly). Dover sole was buttery with a hint of saffron. I also had surprisingly responsive asparagus, considering it's March. My husband raved about his venison throughout the meal. Chef Roland's signature soufflés were easily transformed to accommodate our gluten intolerance. Our waiter exhibited an unfortunate bit of snootiness, but relaxed as the meal progressed. He was otherwise top notch."

  • "Chef did a very nice job but restaurant is tired and stuffy. Service could be better."

  • "Les Nomades sets the bar in Chicago for classic, refined French dining. No detail is overlooked: Service is exceptional and personalized. The food is truly sublime. Roland Liccioni is a master craftsman and magician with flavors. "Must haves" are the warm lobster and mango salad and (at least) one of their signature soufflés. Notable entrees include Dover sole and short ribs. Really, there's not a mediocre dish to be had here. Very fairly priced four or five course prix fixe, or select what you will a la carte. My "go to" for special occasions or just to share a special meal with friends. I look forward to my next visit."

  • "We always enjoy going to Les Nomades. We went really early (5:30) and had the place to ourselves for about 20-30 minutes. It was great. The food and service were awesome. The lobster and shrimp salad was a big hit. we look forward to our next visit."

  • "Five stars for food and the ambience of both the first and second floor. Second floor is preferable--cozy wood fireplace and comfortable distance between tables. The food was fantastic, the hostess was one of the most pleasant in the industry, but the waiter was abrupt and unfriendly. He had an edge that detracted from the entire experience."

  • "This is our second time within the past few months. Hands down the best overall experience in Chicago for fine dining. The 5 course menu option really is really well priced and just the right portions for a filling meal. Very well prepared and plated. The atmosphere is very warm and a bit rustic and French...very elegant and in no way outdated at all! The service is top notch, professional and engaging. They really take their cue from how you want to tailor your evening."

  • "Loved the restaurant. Ambiance and food outstanding. Service great but server needed to demonstrate more personality. An excellent restaurant. Will definitely come back. Highly recommend."
