In operation since 1978, Les Nomades remains true to its distinctive character as an oasis of civilized tranquility amidst the bustling activity of its Streeterville location. Culinary creations delight the most discriminating palates. Savor Sautéed Foie Gras, or Lobster Ravioli with seared scallops; Roasted Breast and Confit Leg of Duck, or Duo of Roasted Partridge and Bison. Artisan cheeses are extraordinary and the pastries are sublime.

Diner Reviews
  • "This is one of the very best dining room in Chicago. It is more like a private club that it used to be. The tasting menu has extensive choices for each course which is a pleasant surprise since boutique restaurants tend to have smaller choices so that they can present the few things that they do very well. It is hard to have vast and varies list of choices, about a Dozen for each course. The service also befits a private club. The wait staff is formal but understated. In my book this place should have two Michelin stars. It is way better than the Everest room to w.hich it is sometimes compared. I consider only Spiaggia as it's equal. While it has great view it does not have the ambience of Les Nomades"

  • "There are too few places like this left in the city. A wonderful ambience that makes you feel special the minute you enter. Excellent food and attentive service complete the package."

  • "Best dining I have had in a long time. The food is excellent. The service and ambiance are perfect for dining out with a loved one or a group of friends. Great wine selection. Staff was very courteous and helped make our dinner a most memorable experience. The diners that night all looked decent, classy and proper without being snobbish. Oh, don't forget to order the souffle. Need I add that the cost of the dinner makes it even better? Check their website."

  • "This is our 6th time at this restaurant and we are never disappointed. The food and service are some of the best in the city of Chicago. We often go for our anniversary and always have a memorable time."

  • "We selected Les Nomades based on other reviews from OpenTable. As the title suggests, it was a good dining experience but not a great one. The service was excellent, attentive and courteous. The wine list was extensive and we received wonderful assistance in making a selection. The food was good and beautifully presented. But we had expected better given the reputation, reviews and price. Perhaps we came on a bad night."

  • "If there is a better restaurant in Chicago, I have not found it. Les Nomades is not trendy, nor avant guard and certainly not cheap. But it is elegant and fantastic. It is always our choice for a special occasion."

  • "Visited for our Anniversary. 2nd visit, but first on a Thurs for BYOB night. Very few patrons which is why they promote their no-corkage policy for Thursdays. Service was down from previous visits, possibly also because of the 'slow' night. Instead of breads being offered individually by waiters, there was just a bowl of bread placed on the table. But the level of the cuisine was up to par. Portions always just right. Temperature perfect. Strangely, the shaved black truffle had very little flavor and the foie gras enriched sauce for the sweetbreads tasted like the bordelaise served alongside for the rib eye. But those are small disappointments. The balance of the meal was delicious and the ambience is always serene and elegant."

  • "Not living in Chicago, we cannot visit Les Nomades regularly, but we try to make it a priority each time we visit the city. I have been a guest at the restaurant for at least 15 years and have never been disappointed. The greeting is warm, the service is unobtrusive but attentive, the menu provides a range that should please nearly everyone, and the food is excellent. I have introduced several people to the restaurant and they now share my enthusiasm."

  • "We have dined at Les Nomades a number of times and this time was equal to what we recall. We had the four course meal which was very adequate for us. Each course was creatively and carefully prepared. Each course was delicious. The meal seemed perfect for a Pinot noir, so we asked the wine steward for his recommendation of three wines that I had researched and ended up with a Louis Jadot 2009 Gevrey Chambertin. It was superb with the meal. It was a real treat to be back at Les Nomades."

  • "I surprised my husband for his birthday to dine here and he loved it. The food was outstanding and the shrimp/lobster salad was very good. He ordered a cocktail and it was made just the way he liked it. We have no complaints and I can't wait to recommend this place to others. The menu is Prix-fixe: Four Courses $115.00, Five Courses $130.00. From beginning to end restaurant was outstanding."

  • "Our dinner was outstanding. I enjoyed going to a quiet, intimate restaurant that requires a sport coat and everyone acts like adults. The food and service were great. We will return."

  • "The service was gracious and unobtrusive but yet attentive. Presentation was nice and the servings were larger than normal than what you would expect. The dinning room was quiet and is great for a romantic dinner."

  • "Maybe you are rich enough to spend $115 for four course dinner every day - definitely we do not fit in that category. But we do enjoy good food and occasional splurge. And that's what this is. From the hostess to the server - everything was impeccable. And the food portions are very satisfying. Foie gras was excellent and the soufflé. Duck was cooked just right. I guess the bread basket could improve. Presentations are visually pleasing. Well paced dining experience. This is a place for mature classy patrons - so do not expect Paris Hilton but maybe Warren Buffet."

  • "Well established place with excellent service and food. Two menue options allowing for a 4 or 5 course dinner and given the quality of the cooking well worth the price. Not for everyday but a special place. "

  • "We came to Les Nomades to celebrate our engagement. It was extremely intimate and lovely. The food and wine were delicious. We really enjoyed our experience. The only note is that it is mostly a fixed price menu, although they do offer a la carte options. "

  • "I was delighted to go to Les Nomades. It's reputation is excellent. Service was as good as any two-star Michelin I have been to in the United States and France. The food, however, was uneven. The sautéed foi gras was superb. The cold foi gras was not. The cheeses were excellent. The salads were not memorable and the dressing overpowering. The fish was over-cooked. The sweat breads were not palatable. Meat dishes were excellent. Desserts were on the whole very good, especially the classic grand marnier soufflé."

  • "As I tell my out of town friends coming to visit, this is the most civilized place to dine in Chicago. Dovetail that with attention to detail, no request being any trouble and perfectly prepared courses now by Chef Roland, the evening continues to be nothing short of a 5-star dining experience. Mary Beth is welcoming as you enter and depart, making you feel as if you dined in your own home. High quality French dining without the attitude. So many items of the price fix menu, a recommendation is hard to make. One option, split a cheese course and then a desert, or simply just order the soufflé."

  • "As stated in the title, our dining experience at Les Nomades far exceeded the meals we've had at several Michelin starred restaurants in Chicago. This was our first visit and my wife and I enjoyed an outstanding dining experience from beginning to end. The dining room had a quaint, understated, yet elegant charm, and beautifully decorated. The waiters were extremely attentive, professional, and extremely knowledgeable of the menu. We felt the service was outstanding. Each course was perfectly prepared, presented, and served. We both had the four course option. Particularly outstanding dishes included the soft shell crab, warm lobster and shrimp salad, duo of roasted veal and lamb loin and the crème brulee. Wine service was also excellent."

  • "My husband and I dine at Les Nomades every time we are in Chicago. It has been our favorite restaurant for over 20 years. The food is fabulous French, the service is everything you expect, and the atmosphere is absolutely lovely. It is the way fine dining should be. The most difficult part of the evening is trying to decide what wonderful foods to eat. All of the selection of items on the menu sound so good."

  • "We went there for our anniversary. We found this restaurant by accident as we walked by fro our hotel W. I then looked it up on line and realized what great potential there was. We did not really understand until we went there how truly life-altering our evening would be. This was amongst our top 5 meals of all times. Everything about the evening was perfect except it had to end. "

  • "Probably the best French food we have had outside France itself. How this has been overlooked by Michelin I do not know! We couldn't fault a thing; the staff, the menu, the wine list, the 20's/30's France feel to the decor . . . etc. Nice that they had a dress code (jackets for men), a restriction on cell phones & photography and a request for quiet conversation. Perfect! "

  • "I've been to all the top restaurants in Chicago. This was my favorite because every single course was consistently outstanding. Often at the high end restaurants, some courses are amazing while others are just ok. Each course here was superb! We even ordered a course called asparagus three ways. I thought it would be boring. In fact, it was one of our favorite courses. Neither of us had ever tasted asparagus like that. It tasted like lobster. The service was excellent, and they were great about accommodating my food allergies. I can't wait to go back! "

  • "We enjoyed the beautiful presentation of delicious French food. My husbands martini was served in a beautiful, depression era martini glass. Other serving pieces were lovely as well which added to the service. There were several bountiful arrangements of roses to set the formal mood. Staff Was attentive and knowledgable. We will definitely be back!"
