Diner Reviews
  • "My third time there and this was my least fave. In part, that's on me and how we ordered. The Brussels sprouts have a yummy sauce, but were greasier than I remembered. The pork sandwich was not what I expected. Greasy fries were not worth the calories. Maybe a salad. Prior visits included tasty salads. I am unresolved on this."

  • "Nice atmosphere, decent prices, and food tasted good overall. The dishes weren't very hot, and the pork chop/roast was way under cooked unfortunately. Waiter took care of the bill on the pork though which was the correct thing to do. Appetizers were good and the waiter was excellent."

  • "I was in town to visit friends who live on Coronado and when we discussed where to go for our 'special occasion birthdays', they mentioned that they hadn't been to Leroy's yet. I used the Open Table reviews to clinch the decision. The food was amazing and my friends wonder why they haven't been there yet! We had their 3 year old son with us and I was surprised at how accommodating they were to children considering the higher scale . They had a nice children's menu, provided a magna-doodle and even had a child friendly woman's restroom. The food was amazing, we all agreed the short rib was the hit of the night. The desserts/ice cream were also top notch. We had a great night out. Noise level was energetic, live music was nice."

  • "The menu for Leroy's was beautifully written, inviting, innovative and fresh. However, the food was lackluster, poorly seasoned and indifferently plated. A must miss during any trip to Coronado."

  • "The food is so good and the atmosphere is so pleasant that I would happily go there on a constant basis."

  • "From the looks of this place, one might expect to find the usual bar fare of wings, and other nondescript hors d'ouevres. But I gather that there are quite a number of people who know that the food (and the beer) are major reasons to come here. Creative, well-spiced, and reasonable portions served by knowledgeable, confident staff. SUperb!"

  • "Service was slow for getting our drinks after others were ordering and getting their drinks. We came in early and sat before others."

  • "Was really looking forward to our pre-theater meal here, but was disappointed. Salad greens were old and limp, and I had to pick the really gross parts out. Service was very slow, both to order and to receive food, though the restaurant was not very busy at the time we were there."

  • "Great service, food and atmosphere!! Would definitely go back."

  • "Went to this restaurant with some friends for brunch. Food was delicious, waiter was amusing, and the guy playing live music was amazing! For a couple songs I actually thought that the radio was on because I couldn't see him from where I sat! All in all everything was great and we all agreed that we'll be back!! I highly recommend trying the hash (vegetable or short rib-- they're both excellent)."

  • "This is an absolute gem of a restaurant located in beautiful Coronado. The manager, Christina, is amazing...really the glue that keeps this restaurant going. The food is wonderful...organic and locally grown. We had a wonderful server who knew not only all about the menu but how to make certain dishes! One of our all time San Diego favorite spots!!"

  • "Upon arriving and being seated in a dark booth, we had low hopes of our meal being fantastic, but were completely redeemed when we moved to sit in a bistro table by the window and some fresh air. Our food came promptly and was FANTASTIC! Order the short rib hash for brunch and you will not be disappointed. The beer list is interesting and the server was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this for a casual dining, drinking experience."

  • "I think the key to a great lunch is using quality ingredients that emphasize their flavor without getting overly complicated, and I think Leroy's does this really well. Both the beet salad and the chicken sandwich were thoroughly enjoyed and finished. I liked that I could get a side salad in place of fries to make my lunch a little healthier! Finally, the ability to use my passport card here encourages me to come back even sooner!"

  • "I know I can trust OpenTable to introduce me to good restaurants, but this one was great. While traveling on business I made a reservation to try something new. Leroy's still had their Restaurant week menu in place. $35 for a lovely 3 course meal.m but the highlight was the Hawaiian hazelnut coffee. That would make it worth the trip alone. Lovely ambience with live music."

  • "Had a great meal with excellent service from Shane."

  • "Small but well-thought out and priced wine selection. Limited menu, made even more limited by the fact that the evening's special was sold out by 7:00 pm. Service was sporadic. The waiter seemed to disappear for long stretches. The four of us would have given very different "grades" on our dinners ranging from a B+ to a D+. All in all not awful ... but not great."

  • "Came here for restaurant week lunch. The food was great. I had the mixed greens and the Cuban sandwich with fries. Wish there had been a little more relish on the sandwich but it was still delightful. The winter soup my friends got looked great and the mussels in a smoked tomato broth were phenomenal. Their wine and beer list is never disappointing. I had never sat and dining on the patio before and that was a great experience."

  • "Food was fair. Service was very slow. Brussels sprouts were the highlight. Stay away from winter squash soup, gnocchi, pear tart. Truffle fries were good. Water is not served with ice. Won't go back for food, maybe to bar to catch a game or have drinks."

  • "First time at Leroy's. Enjoyed the Shrimp Tacos and excellent service. The green papaya slaw on the menu wasn't served - a cucumber salad was served instead. While it was very good, server didn't even acknowledge the substitution. The green cashew curry, while it might sound strange, was superb - very surprising and made the meal. Wish you sold it by the jar. The shrimp was perfectly prepared and the julienne vegetables went very well on the taco. However the extra moisture (water) made the flour tortilla very wet and soggy. The flour tortillas were actually sitting in a puddle of water. Still very tasty, if not soggy. Plan to return another day, would still like to try that green papaya slaw."

  • "Three of us, including a 7 year old, enjoyed our meal. Service was friendly and sharp. The cocktails were fantastic (ahem, for the adults only), the Hangar steak and Tilefish were tasty. I look forward to going back the next time I'm on island."

  • "The service was great but it was downhill from there...small portions, average flavor, boring ambiance, high prices! No value here. I wouldn't bother again (This was my second visit, it's not fair to judge on the first visit)"

  • "Always a lot going on at Leroy's, kind of like walking into your cool college friends apartment. Good sports on the TVs over the bar, lots of people having a good time. Surprising how good the food is and how interestingly prepared. They have an ever changing list of craft beers and not a bad wine selection either. One tip, make a reservation for the evening or you will be waiting quite a while."

  • "This was our second time here and it was excellent! The burger and fries were cooked to perfection (pomegranate ketchup--yum!). The French toast was light and fluffy with fresh berries. And the fritata with vegetables was flavorful and delicious. Also loved that the mimosa was the perfect balance of champagne to juice. Our service was excellent! We sat on the patio--great for people watching! Wish they had just one more umbrella, but it was still very pleasant. Highly recommend!"

  • "Though I enjoyed the food, it was extremely loud. Trying to catch up with an old friend who I had not seen for nearly a decade was impossible."

  • "In town for a birthday vacation. Instead of outrageous steak or seafood, he wanted an "awesome burger," which he got a Leroy's. I wanted something a little more upscale and ordered the Gnocchi, which was out of this world! The drinks were flowing and the birthday dessert was a delight. Thank you for making this special birthday REALLY special. When we come back to Coronado -- and we will -- we will definitely revisit Leroy's!"

  • "what a great treat! we caught 'no corkage' Monday and had brought a special bottle, but they were also offering $10 off per bottle on a great and reasonable wine list. the ricotta gnocchi with oxtail sauce is an absolute must ... and do have an earthy, well balanced wine to pair! fabulous gem in coronado (and, yes, the Brussels are great, too!)"

  • "We've been to Leroy's over 10 times. It is one of our favorites. This particular visit, the food had a few issues -- overdone, sugary brussel sprouts, to be specific. Otherwise, good as usual"

  • "I frequent Leroy's because it's a fantastic restaurant in the neighborhood and I happen to live within walking distance. My husband and I love the variety of beers as well as the incredible food for brunch, lunch and dinner. As for our dishes that night, we we very impressed. My husband said he had the best fried chicken of his life (the chef's special) while I had ravioli with mushrooms in a delectable sauce. We were too full to grab dessert, so we will return for just that sometime soon. My favorite spot there is at a far table next to the open window so I can look out onto Orange Avenue to watch the people bustle about."

  • "Last year Leroy's was my favorite spot to go to after work, but their menu was very small and always the same. Now, however, the menu is amazing! They had a special pairing menu for beer week which was nice. Their craft beer list is very impressive. Food was amazing. I had the prosciutto wrapped pork chop with fig Demi. Amazing. My plate was practically licked clean. My aunt had the scallops. Also really really tasty. I appreciate a place that is true to the local scene, as Leroy's is. Our waitress was new so she wasn't the best, but she wasn't bad either. I'm very impressed with the new menu here at Leroy's."

  • "Our service was slow and our waiter forgot our order and had to retake it, even though there were few patrons. French onion soup was average and blue crab/avocado fair. Ahi tuna with beech mushrooms well prepared and tasty."

  • "The Croque Madame was excellent, and I loved that you get a few options for the French Press coffee. Our other dishes tasted great as well, but we did have one issue. After finishing most of our beet salad, we discovered a small dead spider on one of the beets. We mentioned it to the waiter and he didn't even seem to care or offer to take off the charge for it. That was a little gross."
