Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I did a quick get away and headed to the Ponoco before picking up our son at MDA summer camp. After reading all the reviews for restaurants in the Stroudsburg area we went to Le Persil Bistro. It was a BYOB which was awesome as we had spent the day exploring the Vineyards in the area and had the perfect bottle of wine. It was a small restaurant adding to the ambiance. Jen our server was awesome, friendly and inviting. The food quality was that of the better NYC restaurants without the price tag. I guess the real question is would we return, and the answer is definitely, we really enjoyed our dinner."

  • "Wanted a new restaurant in an area that's not known for great cuisine. The restaurant turned out to be a real gem. Food was terrific, hostess and waitress extremely personable as was the chef. Very nice variety of dishes, as well as a nice interesting specials. Highly recommend."

  • "We've We brought friends with us this evening and one ordered the Coq au vin and top she said it was warm but not hot. Then top piece fine but bottom piece very pink and "wet" so she didn't eat it. She told the waitress who spoke to chef. He dud not come out but had waitress inform her that the pink was cartilage and often pink so it was fine to eat. She was full and not looking for more food but still believed not fully cooked. I was going to call you today as thought you should know and thought he could have responded differently."

  • "Thought I was back in a cafe in Paris. So glad to have this restaurant here in Stroudsburg. No need to travel to NYC for an authentic taste of Paris."

  • "Sorry I didn't know it was there sooner. Food was so delicious. The owners daughter was waiting on us and she was great. Very attentive. It is a very very clean . White spotless table cloths .....white dishes....soup bowls simply decorated. Classy. I have no complaints.....just a suggestion ..I think some warmer decorations...maybe somehow give it more of an old time Paris Cafe look.....more plants in the window..stuff like that.....though believe me...the place is great and sure doesn't need my suggestions. Yes I'd go back and will!"

  • "The service, food ,and ambience were great. Prices were reasonable and we could not have been happier with our fisrt time experience with this restaurant."

  • "Food was delicious. Restaurant wasn't busy so I don't know why meals took a very long time to be prepared. Understand that food is freshly made and perhaps if we had appetizers while we waited, we might not have noticed as much. I'm not sure how long we would have been there if there were more diners. I can recommend le Persil for the food but don't go if you have after-dinner plans."

  • "Our first visit and we were mostly very impressed. Charming appearance at street level--our first visit to Main Street in Stroudsburg, which was delightfully surprising. The décor and furnishings are simple and elegant. Feels very authentic French. The bi-lingual menu is a nice touch, but I was disappointed that our server, a pleasant young woman, did not know a word of French, so when I attempted to order en Francais, she was flummoxed. Overall, the meal was quite nice. The service was about the worst I can recall having in a long time. Server was inattentive when attention was needed. Long waits for various things, including the check. Never offered dessert. The restaurant was not full. Despite the poor service, I would return."

  • "Had a wonderful time here for Mother's Day brunch. I had the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and they were superb! Also, the ambience is very nice and the wait staff was very friendly/nice. My parents remarked that they felt like they were in Paris again. A great gem for Stroudsburg."

  • "We were here for the first time for lunch and I cannot give a honest review until I have eaten about 3 times at the same restaurant. The interior is cozy and French music is playing. We had the roast red beet salad, nice, and coquilles St. Jacques with mushrooms and onions, served with French bread slices. Lemony and very tasty with big pieces of scallops. Then mousse au chocolat, liked it but prefer a dash of liquor in mine like Grand Marnier. The waiter was friendly but did not get our order correctly, he forgot my entree and I had to eat it while the others were finished eating. So overall, I would certainly go again."

  • "I was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food. We had two really good dishes followed by good desert. Would come here again for service and food. Only downside it was very quiet, but as they build customers this should be better. Being from out of town I would return if I'm in the area again. Good find! Worth going! "

  • "I've gone to Le Persil twice now and can happily say both visits were superb. The french cuisine is highly authentic (real gruyere on the french onion soup!) and excellently prepared. The restaurant itself is fairly small and never seems to get too busy, although I've only gone during weekend brunch hours. Nevertheless, if you're heading into PA - I highly recommend stopping by Le Persil for a quick and delicious lunch."

  • "Dined here when passing through on a road trip. Bit surprised that no wine in a "French Bistro" (BYOB). I should have checked first. Not busy on a Monday evening..I was the sole diner, so a bit short on ambience. However the food made up for any negatives."

  • "Food is good overall and portions small. Fish was a touch overcooked. Service was slow for no apparent reason. Only 4 tables filled at 8pm on a Friday night. Would probably avoid if the place was packed."

  • "Food and service was great! Limited space as it is small. This can either be to crowded or nice and cozy depending on one's outlook. Would visit again."

  • "I have been here many times now, and the food is consistently top quality. So rare to say that I have liked, and usually loved, every dish I've tried! Though it is a long drive for us, it remains our favorite weekend dining spot."

  • "I was so excited when I realized this was a French bistro, not Italian. Our meals were exquisite. The sauces were silky smooth and scrumptious. The creme brulee was perfect. It's BYOB which makes it as affordable as going to a bar & grill where you pay $6-10 per drink. We will definitely be going back! Very happy to have found this restaurant so close to home."

  • "We had some friends from Phila come to stay with us and we wanted a restaurant that was cozy, BYOB, had good food and was quiet enough so we could catch up with our old friends. We had it all!"

  • "We are in desperate need of a French restaurant in this area. We went on a Friday night, it's a BYOB which is nice, the food was great, the chef came out to greet us which is rarely done, but the personal touch made us feel welcome. I had the lobster ravioli and it was fantastic, the best I've ever had. My husband had the coq au vin, the sauce was rich and delicious, the chicken was tender and moist but the chicken tasted like it was previously refrigerated and reheated. My husband had the crepes suzette which was really delicious! I had the fresh fruit crepes which was also great, the crepes were light with just a hint of vanilla, yummy! I want to go back and try all the deserts, they sounded wonderful and I am a desert lover."

  • "Location was good, complete with parking lot next door. Service was good and food was good. Prices were fine and menu was extensive enough. Ambience was a bit lacking esp since my boyfriend and I went for a romantic dinner. Being a BYOB is a big plus."

  • "This was a charming place in the Poconos. The food was exception. Service over the top. I had a business lunch and the team did just amazingly well to accommodate our working lunch. Food was exceptional. Can't wait for dinner next time and to visit again. This is a must if you are in the Poconos !!"

  • "Le Persil Bistro presents itself exactly as a French Bistro should -- buttoned up but casual, simple yet elegant, and just enough energy to keep out the stuffiness. We (two of us) started off with the roasted beet salad. I am dubious about whether the beets were truly roasted, however, the salad was a good portion, had a nice simple dressing, and the cheese they used to top it with was really high quality and flavorful. . We split the Filet and Bourguignon entrees; both were flavorful but not too salty (as French food sometimes is), and the Filet was cooked exactly as we ordered it. Overall, this restaurant is excellent in terms of food, service and ambiance. Hint: take advantage of the BYOB and visit one of Penn's local wineries!"

  • "A charming little restaurant with excellent french food. Most restaurants in the area are geared to college students focusing on burgers, wings, and cocktails. This is authentic french food with excellent boeuf bourguignon, mussels in white wine and garlic, escargot, and crepes. There are even some dishes that require a days notice to prepare such as poached peaches and pears, a delicacy rarely found except in the most expensive venues. The prices a very good for the quality of the food. Also, the restaurant is BYOB, with the restaurant providing corkage and wine buckets for those bringing champagne or white wine. This is a great find in to Poconos and could easily succeed in Manhattan or Philadelphia."

  • "I am working my way through the menu *again* and had the mahi mahi on this visit. It was prepared with capers, grape tomatoes, a little onion and the best buttery lemon sauce - light and delicious. It was served with a choice of starch. My choice this evening was the mashed potato, possibly the best I've ever had. Finished with the chocolate mousse. A great dining experience."

  • "Le Persil is a wonderful restaurant with great ambience. The food is superb and the owner and wait staff are very gracious and efficient. We only wish they were still open on Sundays for brunch - more time to enjoy their delicious fare!"

  • "Happy, fortuitous find in Stroudsburg! Wonderful and welcoming staff, delightful French menu, and eager-to-please chef made this a special dinner in a corner of PA otherwise not known for much culinary to say the least. Linen tablecloths and quiet ambiance to boot. The BYOB policy made the whole meal very reasonable (liquor store with good selection just 2 blocks away). For anyone visiting the area - this is your #1 choice!!"
