Diner Reviews
  • "Lavendou remains our favorite choice in the MetroPlex for classic French cuisine. Brilliant flavors served with impeccable presentation. Our party of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The veal is unquestionable the best In Dallas and ou la la the Souffle was grand."

  • "Enjoyed lunch with friends and everything was wonderful. The lunch menu has many choices which are great. Lavendou is the perfect place for lunch because you can visit and not feel rushed."

  • "Overall, a very good restaurant- my wife says may be her new favorite- primary nit is that we requested a quiet table for a birhtday celebration- we were offered a table right next to the front door and the check-in area. We elected to wait at the bar for a better table and ended up near kitchen. It is a small restaurant and the back room was apprarently in use by a group, so, on a normal night, we might have had better accomodation. Food was wonderful and the service was above average."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner as always here. Consistent and masterfully crafted soup stocks, perfectly cook steaks and accompanying sauces. Enough said"

  • "We were never offered the dessert menu. I guess when the waiter realized we were not drinking alcohol, he turned his attention to getting rid of us as fast as possible."

  • "Lavendou is a wonderful restaurant with so many choices on the menu. My husband had the pepper filet and said it was as good as III Forks or Bob's Steak House. He could cut it with his fork and was cooked perfectly. I had the roasted duck which was excellent and served with a delicious wild rice. There are many fish items on the menu that we will try the next time. They have different salads, French onion soup, mussels, and other appetizers that it's hard to decide. We were too full for desert, but the soufflé looked great. We are planning to return to Lavendou in the next couple of weeks."

  • "You immediately feel at home in the cozy surroundings. The menu has a wide variety of options, from traditional French -escargot- to more modern dishes. The food was exceptionally good. Our entire party had seafood dishes, and fantastic desserts, including apple tart and warm chocolate cake. The service was extremely attentive without being annoying. The only drawback was that it was a bit loud on a Saturday night, as they were very crowded."

  • "Good French food. Love the French Onion soup Tournedoes very good Also tried the chocolate cake which surprisingly was equivalent to a molton lava cake...yum!"

  • "This restaurant is one of our favorites! The food is amazing, especially the veal medallions and the bee tenderloin. The bread and sipping sauces are so tasty and the staff are very friendly. Do yourself a favor and end the night with the warm chocolate cake, it's delicious! Although the prices are mid to upper range it's worth it!"

  • "I take my wife to Lavendou on special occasions, the most recent being her birthday. My lady especially enjoys the warm ambiance, as well as the excellent food and service. We missed our regular server, Patrick, this last time, but the service still remained first class."

  • "I took a date to this restaurant for the first time for dinner. I was very impressed by the atmosphere of the room. The decor was fabulous, the wine list was amazing, the dinner plates look like a picture from food network magazine. The service was impeccable. My date said that "this was the best meal I have ever had"."

  • "While "Dallas" describes itself as having an abundance of French restaurants, they are not offering truly authentic French Country cuisine. It is a shame that one must drive so far North to find that kind of food."

  • "I don't know why we waited so long to try this gem so close to home. We went for my birthday, and I could not have been more pleased. We found a sophisticated menu in a warm, inviting atmosphere, topped by efficient and unpretentious service. My pan seared Dover sole was perfect, and my mother's "Gambas" was decadent without being too rich. My daughter's pork dish was well prepared and flavorful. Of course one could not go wrong with a Grand Marnier soufflé to complete such a great meal. I've already recommended Lavendou Bistro to foodie friends, and am excitedly making plans to return with my family."

  • "We have not visited Lavendou in several years and returned to celebrate my mother's birthday. She passed away in 2012 and we had taken her there for her 80th birthday in 2005. Everything we had to eat was wonderful. The Tournedeos are the reason we come back. They are served with a wonderful peppercorn sauce and pomme frites. My escargot appetizer was great and I had plenty of bread to get every drop of butter. We finished off the meal with soufflés and they were perfectly cooked. We are going to have to make it back more often."

  • "Nestled in a small shopping center, this Country French gem offers a great selection of tasty items on the menu. Very prompt and professional service staff was at the table when we needed them and not when we didn't. The lobster bisque is wonderful. This visit I had the salmon which was quite good while my wife enjoyed the Tournedos Félix Faure tenderloin. They offer a great wine selection to keep you busy. We both had a Grand Marnier soufflé (order when seated) to top off the evening. On a Thursday night it was busy but not noisy. Customers dressed comfortably, ranging from casual jeans to business attire. Whether you live in the area or are visiting, you'll definitely plan to return after dining here."

  • "I took three people to lunch this week at Lavandou to celebrate the birthday of one of them. When I made the reservation on Open Table I specified that I wanted them to bring her a birthday dessert, anything with a candle in it so we could note her birthday. I called the restaurant the day before to check on it, and oh yes, they said, they had it in the computer. Well, they did absolutely nothing. No dessert for her, no candle, no nothing. I didn't want to make a scene in front of her, so I said something to the waiter as we were leaving. He had no idea of my request, had never looked in the computer, and made a big scene in front of her, PS. The food is terrible. It's on my Never Again list."

  • "A friend recommended this great restaurant and I'm glad we made it part of our trip. This was a mini-vacation and we could not have enjoyed it more. Our waiter was exceptional. We both work in the industry at one of the top steakhouses in Oklahoma City. Our bisque is great but theirs is exceptional and my new favourite, save room for a soufflé. It was my girlfriend's first and she was speechless. I also highly recommend you ignore the negative reviews for Valentine's day for Lavendou Bistro. They are uninformed diners that do not understand the industry or restaurant economics. If you want a fantastic 2 hour dinner, plan on it 2 weeks after Valentine's like we did and you can have all you want and more. I can't wait to visit again."

  • "A thoroughly enjoyable evening from start to finish. The hostess immediately greeted us with a smile, our waiter was superb at making recommendations, and the bartender went the extra mile to make a unique cocktail not on thier normal menue. Was quite satisfied with both our meal and the experience. Would recommend to any couple looking for an enjoyable food experience."

  • "Evening special was braised pork shank. It was well seasoned and served or pasta. Tasty combination. French Onion soup was too herby and was served warm not hot. Smoked Salmon hit the mark. Good selection of French wine. Recommended."

  • "We enjoyed the evening, although, as the wine flowed the place became louder and we couldn't hear the wine specialist whom was trying to enlighten the diners about the difference in the French and Chilean wines. We recommend The Lavandon to everybody. There is a real French ambiance, and if you speak French you will certainly enjoy a short conversation with some of the waiters."

  • "For my sisters birthday, we chose this restaurant for her love of French food and the fact it was a milestone birthday, which was communicated by email and orally to the restaurant. Service was spotty-to-poor. My champagne was flat, and my husbands mixed drink was all coke, no discernible whiskey. We waited 45 minutes for an appetizer, then just had the waiter bring all our food as we were starving by then. My husbands steak was not the quality one would expect for $30, more grizzle than meat. My sisters dessert never arrived and there was no celebration from the restaurant for her birthday, even though the waiter told my husband they would do something special. Won't be going back."
