A word from Laurier Lounge

This 100 year old heritage building was the boyhood home of George F.G. Stanley, designer of our Canadian flag. It is a very casual eclectic restaurant where the food is excellent but not pretentious and their standards are extremely high. When you enter the upstairs dining room you can see why it… has won awards for best 'romantic' and best 'first date', as well as 'best fondue experience'. This is an establishment, tucked into the heart of urban Calgary, where you can enjoy an intimate meal, just kick back in the comfortable bar, or spend the day on one of the coziest and sunniest patios in town.Continued

"The poutine and the escargot were amazing! The lobster ravioli - a little disappointing as the pasta was not cooked through.

"Been to the Laurier Lounge several times, the food really is okay. Its it how ever a great date place as its unique, romantic and great service. I think they could really do with an update to the menu to change it up a bit, yes is fondue so not lots of options but im sure they could still put some new life into it. its been the same experience for the about the past 5 years so for me so its okay. If its your first experience it will likely be fantastic!"

"Very tiny place with lots of character. I went with a group and had to wait to get in, despite, have reserved for 2. They were simply too busy for 1 extra person. The food was excellent and the service was great. I will return here again."

"Was here for Big Taste Calgary and Laurier served up a triple fondue menu. We started with the Swiss fondue, which was delicious - you could taste the white wine, but beware! Finishing up the dish will leave you feeling a little full (oops). We then moved to their beef fondue, beautiful broth with onions and served with salad and baked potato as sides. Lastly, we had the chocolate fondue, all fruit and callebaut chocolate - which was perfect in its simplicity. It was a nice, slow, chatty dinner - social by design. Just yummy!"
