Diner Reviews
  • "This is an great place for a business lunch, or if you want to catch a bite solo, pull a seat up to the bar and watch a little TV and enjoy a great meal. I usually do the latter, but recently I took a group with me and they all really enjoyed to choices. The soups are awesome and you gotta try the cream corn. You can thank me later."

  • "Been there three times. I've had the NY Strip, Durango topping fish, and the Crab Etouffée enchiladas and all of 'em were awesome. Our waiter, Dago, was as well."

  • "We decided to take advantage of Houston Restaurant Weeks and try out Laurenzo's Restaurant. We were definitely pleased with all aspects of our first time experience there. We will return again and have already recommended this restaurant to family and friends. Great staff, great food and great ambiance."

  • "8/12/14 Good timing..Houston Restaurant Week...Our waiter (Mark Anthony) was always there, yet unseen. Very friendly, fun, he let us take our time ..Food was wonderful & portions were large. I've been coming since you opened & each time has been wonderful."

  • "Great HRW lunch menu. Shrimp BLT had enormous shrimp, perfectly cooked. Thai salad was tasty. Italian cream cake was chock-a-block full of nuts and delicious. Only off note was strsnge texture of what tasted like uncooked brownie batter. Service on a busy Sunday lunch with many a large group was perhaps the most attentive Iin town. My mom had never been here...she'll be back!"

  • "The service was excellent! The prime rib is the best I've had in Houston, will definitely go again."

  • "We went for Restaurant Week, and everything was delicious! Our server was very attentive and the restaurant is very nice for a special occasion."

  • "Everything was perfect - the food, our waiter (Mark Anthony), the beverages. It is a bit pricey, but worth it."

  • "Our server Dago was very friendly and attentive. The food was served promptly and drinks refilled as needed. All 3 or our entrees were delicious! The shrimp was fresh and tasty. My dad said this was the best meal he has had in a long time. The fish was fresh and salad was prepared just right. You can't go wrong with this restaurant. It was very clean and a comfortable place to dine."

  • "My husband and I love this place. We nearly always get the surf & turf, as their preparation of the filet is reliably flawless and who doesn't loved a grilled lobster tail?! We decided to get something different: I ordered the carpaccio and a grilled artichoke. Tender thin sliced filet seasoned nicely (including an orange note) beneath peppery arugula with chunks of parm, all finished with a hint of olive oil and balsamic--heavenly!!"

  • "laurenzos is busy and a bit going on but the service is wonderful.. lots of choices -my beet salad was outstanding the carpaccio was good but nice paper thin as it should be-we all enjoyed our meal-the brunch is a deal and really special"

  • "Went for HRW. Had the gumbo, fish and chips, and the pork carne asada. Teenager had prime rib (not on HRW menu). Spouses carne asada was cool, we pointed it out, and they replaced it with a fresh meal (instead of microwaving it!!!). And, they comped us a desert too."

  • "All of their food is fantastic, but they do have the best prime rib in Houston! Service is always top notch as well."

  • "We have been to Laurenzo's for lunches and for dinners. The service is always attentive, the food is really delicious with ample serving size for the price. Good sports bar ambience without being so obnoxiously loud a conversation cannot be enjoyed. Quickly becoming one of our favorites."

  • "It dfefinitely was not as fancy as we thought it would be, so put on a nice shirt and some jeans for this casual spot. The prime rib and filet mignon were good. The service was great, very attentive staff and I would definitely return."

  • "I would compare laurenzos to a Saltgrass. Their "best prime rib in Houston" is only decent. It's not worth $46 for 12 oz. I would pay $30 at most for it. This place is expensive because of location and that's it. The food is not worth the price. Is it good? Yeah sure, but is it "$50 steak" amazing? Not a chance. Save your money and go to Saltgrass. Or take that $50 and go get unlimited steak from fogo de chao. That's a better use of your $$."

  • "Made reservations.. Got there for Happy Hour... No Happy Hour bar menu as we were told; steaks extremely over priced and you have to pay for a salad; we also inquired about bread.... and was told you have to request bread??? We decided to leave and not stay for dinner."

  • "Went to Laurenzo's for a birthday dinner with a medium sized group. Service and food was excellent. The manager came by multiple times to check on our experience and the entire staff was very friendly upon arriving and leaving."

  • "We had seen the restaurant many times. We and another couple like to try new restaurants about once per month. We made reservations for a Saturday night. Initial reaction was 1, the parking lot is small and 2, with many hard surfaces in the restaurant, it was often difficult to hear conversation at the table. The wine list was adequate. The wait staff is very polite; however our waiter was not as knowledgeable about the menu as we expected. Two of our four ordered 'pork chops' that were 'off-menu.' When the entrée was brought to the table all four of us commented that we'd never seen pork chops like that. They were lamb chops. The other entrees were good. Dessert was so-so. Price was about $80 per person with tip"

  • "I have eaten at this resturant several times and it's always the same issue. Service a bit slow...no one approaches you when seated at table. Takes wait staff about 10 -15 minutes to acknowledge you. Food is great!!!! Try prime rib tacos! I would go back."

  • "The food is amazing!! The service is so personable and friendly! We go here several times a month and are never disappointed!"

  • "Only okay unfortunately, we had the prime rib "their specialty" and it was not impressive, but I wouldn't say it was bad. Only okay. The service was good, but it seemed like our waiter was the only person with people in his section, we felt slightly neglected at times. Not the service you expect when you consider the cost. Ended up leaving a 25% tip, not because it was deserved, but because I didn't feel like waiting another 15 minutes for my change. Side note, this place seems like it can't decide what it wants to be. It tries to say "hey I'm a high end steakhouse" but the decor and staff make it say "hey we're kind of a sportsbar/taqueria" Please decide what you are."

  • "I've probably eaten at Laurenzo's at least 50 times over the past five years, mostly for business lunches, but also for very romantic dinners with a special date. The interior is a mix of Chicago 1930's Art Decor and some of the most incredible sports memorabilia I've ever seen. But the topper is the excellent food (Prime Rib is a house specialty) but they have great seafood as well. The service is just a impeccable as the food and I've never been disappointed in the whole experience. One of Houston's hidden gems!"

  • "The restaurant has no idea how to handle large parties."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Food was average. If you want pizza or a burger than the place is fine. Steak was the cost of a fancy steak place but the ribeye was thin cut and average quality. My wife got fish and it was bland. Waiter was very nice and overall good but they dropped my son's pizza and he had to wait about 15 min for them to cook another. They didn't even offer him a free scoop of icecream for the wait."

  • "There were several things that raised an eyebrow but I let it go as this was the only time that we ever had a negative experience at Laurenzo's. My Wife and I have dined here quite often because the quality of the food as well as the quality of the service. This is one of our top 5 favorite restaurants in the city. I will chalk this up to a new Waiter."

  • "Laurenzo's has the best prime rib in Houston, hands down. They know what they are doing! There are other menu gems as well, but this is the specialty. The service at Laurenzo's is excellent as well."

  • "Although we live across town we try to get to Laurenzo's as often as possible. After our first visit a couple of years ago it quickly became one of our favorite restaurants. The food is wonderful and the service is fantastic! Ask for Dallas as a waiter."

  • "I was expecting a different vibe when I walked in. The ambience is a bit dated. We sat and ordered drinks. The server was very helpful and attentive. Drinks came and we ordered our food. Food was awesome. (Try the hamburgers) Lerenzoes is expensive. So by a voucher try dampen the effect the bill will have kn your pocket book. 4 stars."

  • "We had the salmon appetizer and it was soooooo.good. It is a generous portion of tender, moist salmon served with a dill sauce in the side and some really nice, light chip/crackers....they are difficult to describe but they were a great accompaniment to the salmon. My husband had the shrimp and grits and I had the fish with panther train sauce and they were both absolutely delicious. I also had a margarita before dinner and a glass of house Chardonnay with my meal, all good."

  • "My friend and I split the steak and lobster, but when the plate was brought out, only the steak was cut in half. The creamed spinach was cold. The service was pleasant but not stellar. This was an average dinner."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "Hands down, best prime rib I've ever had. Great ceviche mixto appetizer, baked sweet potato was Outstanding! Great atmosphere, antique fine dining meets sports bar feel; quite unique! Can't wait to go back! Loved it!"
