  • "Las Campanis was exceptional in quality of food and atmosphere. Starting with the chips and salsa to our main course of chicken fajitas. Best chicken fajitas I have had, coming from a person who has visited 100+ Mexican restaraunts. The surrounding trees, plants, birds and the occasional mission bells ringing made the atmosphere very pleasant. "

  • "The food is not very good here but the setting is fantastic. Order something simple and stay away from the more elaborate meals since the chef isn't capable of anything remotely fancy. The only reason to eat here is for the wonderful setting. So go ahead and enjoy this place on a warm summer night but don't expect much from the food or the drinks. "

  • "I loved the patio seating especially when the sun was setting, and the little lights on all of the trees came on. It was a nice day, but having the heaters on also was nice after the sun went down. The food was traditional Mexican style, and very good. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Will definitely come back!"

  • "I love The Mission Inn. Every restaurant has been a great experience. My dinner was a simple appetizer but my boyfriends was a full dinner and unfortunately he did not enjoy his food which was the carnitas dinner plate. I did not taste it but the presentation was nice. I will still go back to Las Campanas and try something else and will always recommend the Mission Inn to everyone. It's still is my favorite place in Riverside."

  • "The ONLY problem I had with making this reservation through OPEN TABLE is that the restaurant didn't read my special request. I wrote that it was our 29th Wedding Anniversary and not one person mentioned it. The hostess, the waitress...even the manager came to our table...oblivious of our celebration. I hope this gets to the restaurant so they can be better in the future. :-)"

  • "Went there for dinner two times in two weeks! And I live half an hour away!! The guacamole tableside is a must-have for dinner. The outdoor seating provides a great opportunity to enjoy the So Cal weather and the Inn itself is great for an after dinner stroll :)"

  • "Great food and the size of the plates was something to get blow your stomach wide open. Excellent restaurant, but do not show up early for your reservation, you will have to wait until your time has come."

  • "My sister-in-law was here visiting from Florida. She is a native California and has wonderful memories of the Mission Inn. We met my Aunt for lunch. It was wonderful and we look forward to visiting again. Thank you!"

  • "We are frequent diners at Las Campanas, because we love the atmosphere, and because it is one of the few place I can eat because of my food allergies. There truly is no more beautiful place to dine in the Riverside area. Timothy was our server, and did a fantastic job of attending to my food allergy needs and requests. He even was able to procure a gluten-free cupcake for our dessert. This was a memorable night that was made better because we were at Las Campanas, and well-taken care of."

  • "Very disappointed. Arrived early, saw open tables and asked to be possibly seated early but did not accommodate. Saturday night and they were out of salsa and chili's! Possibly new management and not doing a very good job of it."

  • "Las Campanas is in the Mission Inn, and the prices reflect it. I didn't find anything special on the menu. Pretty regular Mexican food menu. Lovely outdoor dining."

  • ""I love the relaxed outdoor patio ambience - like a comfortable backyard with wonderful foliage. This place captured the attention of two demographics, my daughter at 22 and me at 50+. Both of us would return to try more dishes. The soft taco and chicken enchilada combination truly had an authentic Puerto Vallarta spicy kick to it and was amazing. Service could have been more well-timed and more attentive."

  • "I have never had a bad experience!! The atmosohere is great. The outdoor setting is a nice change from the average dining experience. The food and service is wonderful. A great place for a quick bite for lunch or a special evening with that special someone."

  • "This charming tree-filled courtyard is an oasis, set just far enough back from the busy street that you don't even know it is there. The food is pretty standard Mexican and the menu is limited (and a little on the pricey side for what you get), but it tastes good enough and they cheerfully bring you extra salsa on request. We went for lunch on Valentine's Day and couldn't have chosen better."

  • "The food and service were great. The ambiance was nice. Their were a few children running around the place, kinda off putting. Also i could not hear or see the guitarist, that was supposed to be playing. Also when i looked up the menu for Valentines day , it said we were supposed to receive an amore and more treat to share. Not sure what this was, but was not offered to us anyway. Overall i would definitely go back, and recommend to a friend."

  • "I loved the ambience from the minute I walked in. It has a calm, quiet feel, with a spectacular view of white lights throughout the trees. The tortilla chips were delicious...warm, light and crispy. The salsa could use some flavor. I had cheese enchiladas. The sauce was way too salty. My friend had ceviche. It was good, but not very fresh tasting. I hoped for authentic mexican food. I'd go back for the ambience, but the food definitely needs improvement."

  • "The food was very good and the server very nice. Our table was off to the side between large parties. They had all the heaters and we had a broken one. The would not move any heaters. It was freezing. Not a good experience. Couldn't wait to leave!"

  • "Las Campanas calls itself a Mexican restaurant but I was a little surprised and disappointed to find out it didn't serve any sweet corn cakes. It's a major staple in any Mexican cuisine. I think it's time that restaurant reevaluate it's menu and truly cater foods that is complete representation of Mexican cuisine."

  • "I spend one month in Riverside, CA each year, and my very favorite place to visit is the Mission Inn. Having breakfast in the court yard or lunch/dinner at Las Campanas are the dining experience I look forward to the rest of the year. From the dinner menu, I had carnitas and my two guests had fahitas and fish tacos. We argued over whose meal was the best. I think I like Las Campanas so much because the quality is always high, and dining in such a beautiful and relaxing place makes for a wonderful experience."

  • "My wife and I have had many of date nights here and its always a great time. The guacamole at the table side is the best you will ever have. I have even started using this location for business meetings. Where else can you enjoy great taste outdoors in January."

  • "Visited just before Christmas and the decorations were spectacular. You would think the service would not be so great when they were so crowded, but the service was excellent. The food was fantastic, and the prices were not inflated for the season. Our table was outside near a heater, and they gladly adjusted the temp to make us comfortable. The view of the decorations was fantastic. It was so nice to be inside and able to see the decorations up close, and have a terrific dinner at the same time. I would go back in a heartbeat, at Christmas or any other time."

  • "Food was delicious and very affordable. Sangria was excellent. Worth the drive from Los Angeles! Can’t wait to try this place during the summer when the Festival of lights is not going on but this is a must during the holiday season!!"

  • "Chris Doherty is a terrible host. His poor service and bad, condescending attitude alone ruined my anniversary dinner with my girlfriend. We had a reservation and arrived 5 minutes early, but we had to wait half an hour for our table to be ready. The staff is unprofessional and rude. Our server was negligent. She brought us a box without a bag, and then asked if we wanted one rather than taking initiative and bringing it without asking. Even after asking, she forgot to bring it and we had to remind her again. The only real service we got was from the busers. This place was an immense waste of time and money."

  • "...Especially this time of year! While the Mission Inn Festival of Lights is going on, it's wonderful to start out there while it is still light out, then watch the light show come on as it gets dark. The food is great, the service outstanding, and the ambiance wonderful. :-)"

  • "We drove 80 miles to see the Holiday Lights at the Mission Inn and enjoy a meal there. The property is beautiful. We decided on the outdoor Mexican restaurant. The service was very fast, perfunctory, and impersonal. I ordered the $19 chile rellenos and my husband ordered the chile verde. My food looked good but was soggy, luke warm and lacked flavor. The chile verde came out hot but also lacked flavor. The setting was beautiful but frankly it was the worst Mexican food I've ever had."

  • "My wife and I went to Las Campanas for dinner before walking around to see the holiday light displays at the Mission Inn. The outside setting was nice and had patio heaters to keep my wife warm. Our server Brittany was very nice, knowledgable, and helpful. She recommended the table-side prepared guacamole; and it was absolutely fantastic. Liz loved the chicken tortilla soup (tomato based) and the open-faced shrimp quesadilla. I had the grilled shrimp with cheese filled grilled peppers. All of the food was terrific. We definitely plan on coming back to the restaurant. Excellent place for terrific mexican fare. Jim & Liz"

  • "My wife and I were staying at The Mission Inn for our 30th wedding anniversary. We were here during the Festival of Lights. This is such a beautiful setting for an outdoor dinner. The grounds are lushly landscaped and we hardly noticed the parade of people making their way through the walkway right near you to see the incredible light show they put on at the Inn. Our service was prompt. The table-side guacamole was the best we had ever had. The filet mignon steak fajitas were very good. So tender. The rice was very tasty. My chicken tacos were good, although I wished they were more spicy. The experience was fantastic!"

  • "Las Campanas was a pleasant surprise. The food was really good, the ambiance was very nice, the Festival of Lights turned on while we were there and that was really fun. The service people were extremely friendly however the service was a bit slow, but not too bad because of the beautiful setting. Chips and salsa were also delicious. My beef taco was one of the best I've ever had! I'll definitely go back and next time order two beef tacos. The ice tea came from a machine, didn't like that, exchanged it for a diet coke with no problem."

  • "We went on a Saturday night for dinner a week before Christmas and it was very busy, the wait was 1-2 hours, if you didn't already have a reservation. All the seating is outdoors. From what I could tell every table had at least 1 seat near a heater. There's also a fire pit so there's a chance to be seated near both the fire and a heater. Overall the noise level is relatively calm, unless you are sat next to some noisy patrons. The patio is next to the Mission Inn entrance and valet area so you do also get a bit of road noise and chatter from that area. There is, however, shrubbery separating it all from the patio area. Spent less than $100 for two drinks, appetizer, and two entrees. Try the Perfect Margarita! I would definitely go again!"
