Las Campanas is a beautiful restaurant in a lovely outdoor setting at the Mission Inn, Riverside. The food is wonderful. The enchiladas with green sauce were great, lots of tender chicken with lots of cheese. Portion was more than enough for lunch. The service is over the top. Have lunch or brunch any chance you get and take a walk through the Mission Inn. A treat all around!

We have dined here many times over the years as the setting in early evening is very charming. Unfortunately, management installed new ultra bright, garish LED lighting wrapped around all the palm trees on the patio. It just doesn't have the same vibe. We ordered the crispy taco plates and drinks. It beef filling was supposed to be shredded but it was chopped, tough and over cooked. The total tab for two taco plates, two glasses of wine, tax and tip was $80.00, plus valet parking $12.00 including tip, total $92.00. I think the Mission Inn staff can do better for this price.

We were staying at the Mission Inn and decided to have dinner at Las Campanas our second evening. The patio setting is lovely with white lights around the numerous palm trees. The menu is fairly small but we both found items we enjoyed. I had pork verde and my husband had carnitas. Both were good and the portions were larger than we could eat. We thought it was a little expensive but probably not out of line for a hotel restaurant.

We sat outside and there were fly's everywhere. At one point we counted 16 fly' s on our table or chairs. These were big fly's. We constantly we swinging our hands and napkins so the fly's would stay out of our food. It was gross. We moved tables and it didn't matter the flys followed. We asked if they had anything to cover our food or to keep the fly's away and they said no. We finished eating quickly and left as soon as we could. This place needs fans or candles or something to keep the fly's away.

2 1/2 hrs between the time we sat down & the time we left. We saw the waitress only when she took our order. 1 hr & 20 mins. later we received very old & very cold food. It had been left so long, crust formed on all the beans. We could not send it back or complain because no one else would help us and we could not find our server (She was not the person who brought the food). We had to get up & track her down for the check. Somebody else gave us the check. Although we ate almost nothing, we paid & left. We would have complained, but it did not seem anyone was interested. We were planning to have our wedding at the Mission. We will not be doing that now. We were entertaining out of town guests & were embarrassed that we took them here.

The food was excellent, however could not enjoy it because of the heat. NO INDOOR dinning. Need to have misters or fans for hot evenings. Once our food came, the flies were very annoying and also led to unpleasant dinning. Not sure if we will try it again on a cooler night. We do not enjoy eating outside no matter what the climate is.

We went there for a going away dinner for some of our closest friends. The server Elsa was great! Very attentive and accommodating. The drinks were really good and the food was just okay at best. The carnitas was EXTREMELY dry, the salmon was bland even though it was covered in 2 different sauces. The chile verde was okay I guess although I've had much better. We sent the carnitas back and the manager was gracious and gave us something else and took it off of our bill. He also gave us an additional 20% off. Overall, the service was great, they need a better chef because the food was not good. If you are looking for great drinks and atmosphere, go there but if you are looking for awesome food, look elsewhere.

The patio area we were seated at was very nice. Unfortunately, since we went in early September it was very warm. The staff repositioned the umbrellas frequently to maximize shade areas as time went on. The service was courteous and professional, but really slow. After getting our first round of drinks our server disappeared for an unreasonable amount of time. It was not very busy, so I cannot give allowances for being short handed. The food was great, and served hot.

We had a 5:30 PM reservation and got there about 5:00. They have no indoor seating and it was too hot to sit outside, so we left. It's stupid for OpenTable to demand ratings in all five areas without offering a N/A (not applicable) choice.

My party and I showed 5 minutes til 6PM. Our drink order was honored at happy hour prices, that made us very happy. We were celebrating my mom's birthday the patio was very pretty. I'd only recommend that for birthdays and anniversaries offer a complimentary birthday dessert. The only option was to buy a pricey dessert or reasonably priced cupcake - it was nice that, after the dessert was ordered, it at least came with a candle.

My wife and I had dined here several times before but it had been 18 months since our last visit. having good memories we invited our friends another couple. I had Chilie Verde, I was dissapointed as it was served in a bowl with a spoon and the presentation was that of a Depression era soup kitchen. The tortillias were cold and not good quality. The rice lacked taste and texture. My wife had Beef Fajitas, her meat was tough and absolutely no presentation. Our friends had shrimp dinners and they were not impressed. it is sad that such a historic beautiful location would let quality slip so much.

Service was average. Two Fajitas came with only one serving of tortillas. Server was busy and we could not ask for more. When it started raining, in addition to getting wet, a sewer smell permeated the place. A loose cat was seen walking around foraging for food. Appeared unhygienic, even if it was not. Had specifically requested two checks separating alcoholic beverages in online reservation. Had to remind server about that. Lack of attention to detail and concern about getting wet (umbrellas were moderately effective) was a disappointment:-( Food was good. Server, when available was upbeat and courteous.

The food was great and the service was great. Although you can find great food/service anywhere in So-Cal, what I liked the most was the staff's eagerness to make the night special, unique and customized, for my wife's birthday. I had requested a few little things and they ran with it, they had flowers for her on the table, they helped distract her so I could surprise her when her parents showed up and simply put, their participation in the night was above and beyond.

This is a beautiful garden patio. Surrounded by the historic and lovely Mission Inn. But this restaurant offers a terrible example of California/Mexican food. My friend and I sampled two meals together, lunch and dinner. Both times the food was not just disappointing, but actually awful. The Taco Cupcakes appetizer was strange: little cups made of under-fried, tough, flour tortilla filled with a very dry, rather tasteless and greasy mixture of ground beef and black beans. The chicken enchiladas were filled with dried-out, tough lumps of meat, then covered with a thick mound of very salty, tough cheese. The other items we ordered were equally bad. So Sad!
