The food is fabulous...I highly recommend the scallops and the brownie for dessert...if you love chocolate, it's to die for! I'm not from Cleveland but I go every time I'm in town and I'm never disappointed! Also, the wait staff is friendly and helpful."

  • "This looks like a casual brasserie but it has elegant food. An appetizer of seared giant sea scallps entree was served with brussel sprouts, noodles & pernod cream topped with shaved parmesan cheese. The juicy layers of flavors all mixed together to form an ecstatic level of creamy rich flavorful fluffy scallops. We emjoyed the "French Toast" This flavorful dish has soft toast points smothered in a ragout of sauteed wild mushrooms in a warm balsamic syrup. It is savory with a tart sweet after bite. This explosion of flavors has to be tasted to be believed - glorious. We ordered an appetizer of Mussels immersed in a garlic, white wine, buttery sauce. They were soft, creamy & dripping with flavor and yes the pomme frits were crisp & hot."

  • "All the food at L'Albatros was wonderful. The staff was very attentive and continued to bring bread, dipping oil and beverages. Had the razor clams for an appetizer. Entrees were osso buco, roast chicken, duck confit, and the goat cheese. All were very good. The restaurant was very busy and loud for a Thursday night. We hope to go again in the summer when we can sit outside."

  • "Very extensive menu - everything our party of four had was great (and we did a lot of sharing). The cod with spaetzl and sauerkraut sounded a bit sketchy of a combination to me, at first, but it was delicious. The waiter was exceptional - very knowledgeable and helpful. I also recommend the "French toast" - a savory appetizer with wild mushrooms. Our waiter was very helpful - knowledgeable about the menu and able to describe things very effectively. For the quality of the food, the prices here are very reasonable."

  • "We had a 6:00 reservation. It was my son's birthday and he chose the restaurant. We have been there before and normally recommend it. This time, not so much. The orders included three hangar steak with pomme frittes. The food took more than an hour to arrive. Two of the orders were for 'medium' and they arrived blood-red. We sent them back. Obviously the chef then took the same already-sliced meat and broiled it to death. It was tough and over-cooked When we complained again, the meals were all comped... but honestly I would rather have paid for a birthday meal that we enjoyed. The orchestra was playing that night and it was pretty obvious that the service was a mess due to that."

  • "It's nice knowing when you're taking another couple out to a place they haven't been that is going to be a success. And that's the way dining at L'Albatros is. It's an easy place to go. Quality of food and service is great. On the East side of Cleveland I find that the prices are actually lower than many other places of similar level. I made myself not get the cassoulet because it seems I always order it so I got the veal short rib and was not disappointed. Served on a bed of risotto made for a great meal. I recommended the cassoulet to someone else and , of course, it was excellent. I also ordered two frisee salads for 4 so the others could enjoy what I consider the best salad in Cleveland. Do not hesitate to visit ! ! !"

  • "The server was very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was delicious--my only complaint was that the olive oil for dipping the bread had no garlic or seasoning in it. I'm not crazy about the decor--it's too contemporary for my taste. I prefer a homier atmosphere. I also don't appreciate paying to park. But the food is so good that we will go back. (This was our 3rd visit.)"

While not in our typical dining out price range, the experience was well worth it. Don't miss the cheese board appetizer...and the knowledgeable person who describes them. I have an issue with the service, and the placement of the host stand, but these are overshadowed by everything else, mostly."

The bartenders make great drinks and conversation (without intruding) and the wait staff continues to impress with their knowledge (especially noticeable on the extensive cheese offerings) and pace. The place has several different rooms, each with their own unique atmosphere. Some of the most attractive ambient lighting in town. Prices are more than reasonable for what you receive. Top notch for virtually any occasion."
