We parked near the restaurant and went for a walk around the neighborhood. about an hour before our reservation we went to the bar at La Tavola for a drink. It was so pleasant that we ate in the bar and cancelled our table reservation. The food was wonderful and we had a great time."

  • "As I walked in I was welcomed by the clean, modern Italian decor. I was seated at a table in the middle of the small dining room. The atmosphere was nice though the noise level was a bit too loud. Our waiter was cordial and did an adequate job. I ordered the black spaghetti dish with crab meat, spinach, and tomatoes. The pasta was cooked al dente. The sauce and crab meat went well with the tomatoes creating a rich balance of salty and sweet. I would highly recommend this dish for seafood and hand-made pasta lovers. The little things like olive oil on the side for the bread and fresh cracked pepper on the pasta were simple but appreciated touches adding to the authentic and purposeful approach to food La Tavola has mastered."

  • "Server Maria was very good, decor is simple, nice & clean. The menu was very scaled down, few choices, food is ok at best & more expensive than the $$ rating. Dined with 6 friends. Most of our food was disappointing. Stuffed veal was terrible, I couldn't eat it. The eggplant/chicken dish & lasagna dish were very bland. Tiramisu was sponge cake with mascarpone cream without the needed espresso soaking. Tartufo did not have a hard coating. Black pasta with crabmeat was the only ok item. My friends are NOT picky but they did not enjoy most of their food. I felt bad I recommended La Tavola. A 20% tip (on food & tax) was added to our bill, which is probably their written policy but it is a bad one. Thankfully the best part was our server!"

The servers kept changing throughout which just meant they didn't know who ordered what, etc. I'd definitely go back for the food and give service another chance."

  • "I have been to la Tavola a lot in the past and enjoyed a wonderful meal and great service. Unfortunately we had a new manager (?) head waiter from Long Island who is rude and abrupt. I had a Groupon that was old and he did honor it, biu not without lots of attitude before, during and after the meal. We also overheard him on the phone being rude to people trying to make a reservation. This was Father's Day and one would think this would be a special day. I was tempted to leave without eating, it was so uncomfortable."

  • "So you're in Baltimore, you've been to the Inner Harbor, and you've been to Fells Point. You find Little Italy in-between, and TripAdvisor gives you recommendations with four dollar signs. This one gets two because the prices are reasonable -- full bottles of wine starting around $40 (and a good list), appetizers between $7-$11, entrees, $14 - $30. I had spaghetti neri with crab and tomatoes, and that was absolutely fantastic! My friends also enjoyed ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a marina sauce, and gnocchi with pesto. The gelatti were great. Go for the specials, and if you know your northern Italian cuisine, challenge the chef/owner to make that!"

  • "I am writing another great review of La Tavola which is one of our favorite restaurant. Started with the insalata mista - fresh green salad with a delicious light vinaigrette. My wife and one friend had wahoo cooked in parchment paper. One had pasta primavera which was top notch. I had my usual - vitello alla norcina. Thin slices of veal cooked with olives, tomatoes and white wine. We all split an order of home made green and yellow fettucinne with marinara sauce. This is a northern Italian restaurant so pasta does not come with the dishes but you must order one for the table. Home made cannoli - Vaccaros eat your heart out! Service by Nick was top shelf and the visit from Michael one of the owners is always appreciated. "

  • "This was our first visit to La Tavola and it was an excellent first impression. We came for a very early dinner, late lunch before a 5 PM affair so the restaurant was essentially empty and quiet. there were a few other tables that came in as we were dining. The menu is not extensive 3 veal dishes, a few fish dishes, a few baked pasta dishes as well as several pasta dishes. I had Fettucine alla Romana, homemade hearty noodles with a cream sauce, mushrooms, peas, and proscuitto which was very good, cream sauce was not heavy. Thje rest of the table had a fusilli with vegetables which she rated highly and a special tortellini stuffed with sea bass that was in a very light tomato sauce, also quite good. With wine the bill came to $45/person"

Everything is homemade here. The staff, from top to bottom, has been together for a very long time, so the pacing and timing of service is just right. The menu is not especially large, but all food groups are represented. I have eaten here dozens of times throughout the year and have never been disappointed. "

  • "Overall enjoyed La Tavola . The small dining room is a little cramped but has seen some updates so that the ambiance is nice. I would not consider this a vibrant bar scene although the bar was full. The waitress really indicated that this chef focuses on seafood but we're not big into that we did enjoy home made bread and pasta which melts in your mouth. Lasagna was delicious and my boyfriend had the the veal with potatos (potatos just OK not enough flavor). Excellent service we had two waiters essentially and they were both enthusiastic to assist and answer questions as this was our first visit. They had a long "expensive $40 on up wine list" so I went with the bellinitini and it was very good. "

  • "The service was excellent. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu, and the staff was extremely attentive. We showed up early for our reservation and the manager was great about adjusting things so that we were able to be seated immediately. Our food came out very quickly. The food itself was good, but not great. No complaints, just did not blow us away. We had trouble hearing each other with the noise level, but that was mostly due to a family near us that was literally screaming at their table, nothing the restaurant could do about that! "

  • "I arrived at the restaurant on what I thought was my appointed time. I had changed it to earlier and unfortunately open table hopped to next day. The owner said he did not have my reservation. He said I was mistaken. Then he went into this tirade and made me feel very unwelcome. I told him I would walk down street!! He was like no let me see your confirmation from open table they make mistakes all the time. I show him my confirmation and he just ranted that I had made a mistake!! I again told him fine I would leave! He said no let me see what I can do. He at me down and the waiter was lovely but our soup and appetizer came at the same time. There was two couples next to our table complaining about the trashy tattoo convention . We came for "

  • "Another amazing meal. My wife ordered her go-to-dish, the Rigatoni Mirabella, and nobody does it like La Tavola! I had the special, Tortelloni stuffed with sea bass and covered in lobster and portabella mushrooms...What?!!! I kid you not, it tasted so good I think I blacked out after the first bite. My wife had to slap me with a piece of her rigatoni before she could engage me in conversation because this tortelloni had my undivided attention. This restaurant never disappoints. Service is amazing, the staff is on point and always friendly, and most importantly the food is always delicious! "
