Diner Reviews
  • "I made reservations through Open Table for six of us (including one child). The staff were friendly, our server was attentive and customer-centric, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was definitely on the loud (although fun) side - I had to strain to hear people across the table from me (and I'm not hard-of-hearing). The manager (Mike?) came over to introduce himself, and overall, we had a good dinner. The price was also reasonable - our bill was less than $75 for five adults and one child. I would absolutely return here!"

  • "The food was fine but pretty greasy. The wait staff seemed very new and untrained."

  • "La Sandia has a great location - perched high above everything else at Park Meadows. Great views from the patio in the summertime. Food is pretty good - definitely not memorable - but lots of great tequila choice."

  • "I selected one of the dinner Trios, tamale, enchilada and chile releno. Food had just the right amount of spices. very good margarita and the churros were a good after dinner treat."

  • "If you don't want to battle to hear the conversation, ask to sit in the back of the restaurant. We were seated near the front windows in the bar area at a small 2 person table. Conversation required us to lean in to the center of our small table. Skip the table side guacamole. We ordered the medium level of spice and it was pretty bland. Additional salt helped but it needed more onion and some minced peppers. Steak tacos and lettuce wrap chicken tacos were very good. The side of smokey salsa with the steak tacos was perfect."

  • "This was our first time and I took my date because I knew the view would not disappoint and it didn't. The fajita dish was the worst I have had and the waiter seemed annoyed because it was our first time and we were not in a hurry."

  • "Excellent food is what you always receive when you dine at one of Richard Sandoval's restaurant!"

  • "This restaurant is a staple of ours. We had uncharacteristically poor service while dining on the deck on a Sunday evening, but as always, the food was top notch."

  • "We had a fantastic brunch at La Sandia, the food was amazing, better than I've remembered it. The mole on my omelet was delicious. A great place to eat."

  • "The food and margaritas where excellent. The service was not spot on. We had to flag down someone twice for assistance."

  • "One of the best service we've had in awhile. My wife accidentally spelled her mojito and our waiter did not hesitate to replace it, we don't see that in a lot of places. He's co-workers were very considerate with anything that we needed."

  • "We love La Sandia. Its our go to Mexican restaurant in south Denver. We always take out of town guests. Originally from California, the food reminds me of the fresh Mexican restaurants out there. Not the smothered mess you usually get in Colorado. The margaritas are amazing, and the best around. "

  • "Very festive spot, but if you're looking for a place to converse, catch up and actually hear every word that your dining partner is saying, it's simply too noisy for that. However, this is the perfect venue for happy hour and/or a tasty dinner. I am hoping that the live bands on the open deck will come back during the summer months."

  • "Title says it all. It was good except the kids menu is a bit basic and we had to keep our jackets on while dining as it was so cold inside."

  • "Not a great place if you want in and out. This is the second time I was there with a party of 6 and the service was lacking. Took FOREVER to take our orders and get our food. Felt neglected. Was there twice as long as we wante to be. "

  • "Had a reservation for 7:00 PM but had to wait 10 minutes for the staff to get a table ready. There were a number of open tables so not sure what the issue was here. The food was great but the service was just OK. We have been going here for a number of years and the restaurant has fallen off some in the last year or two."

  • "We used to love this place but now thinking it is no longer worth the drive. Table side guac should mean true table side preparation. What they did is bring a bowl with the ingredients already in it and show it to us and then mix it. It wasn't mixed up enough and we had no opportunity to ask for more of a particular ingredient - which is the only reason why you would want table side prep in the first place. I don't think there was any lime in it - which is my fave ingredient. They weren't busy at all so this seemed like plain laziness, and I was disappointed. The beef tacos were inedible - the meat was very tough. On the good side the veggies quesadillas were as good as always. Not sure I will be back here."

  • "La Sandia is generally good food and the service is always friendly, with the exception of the front desk girls (they need some work). Their guac is really tasty and so is their salsa! Their drinks are strong and quite good. The food is usually very good, however, this time the carne asada was not good at all (in fact the last 2 times it has been pretty bad), so I do not recommend getting that. But do try their tacos and enchiladas because those are quite tasty! "

  • "We always enjoy coming here. This time the waiter was slow, didn't apologize when he sloshed beans all over the rest of the food, and brought the guacamole right before the food came. Usually it's much better service. "

  • "The service was very poor. We had to continually ask for items such as plates, silverware, water, etc. The food was not warm and the enchilada was sent back. The new enchilada was cold as well and not eaten. The server did not ask about the food when it was not eaten, just took the plate away. Very disappointing."

  • "We love the food at La Sandia! With that said the service is very spotty. We have had great service here and not so great service. Of late, not so great. The last few times here it was like we were on an island that the servers could not get to or even see. Frustrating since we went on April 22nd, my birthday. I wish I could remember our server's name, I didn't pay so I don't have the receipt. "

  • "Excellent service from our waiter Noah. The food was served promptly and was delicious. Our waiter came back to check on us enough times but not like a stalker! Very pleased with the house marg and the shrimp fajitas. Would definitely recommend and return."

  • "Service is surprisingly underwhelming for a restaurant in Park Meadows. The host was visibly disinterested in being there. The food is flavorful but the drinks take way too long. So long that I received my 2nd mojito long after the plates had been removed. The server mistakenly rang in steak fajitas instead of shrimp for one of our guest's (which can happen anywhere). Instead of any acknowledgement by the server (not even a cursory apology for the wait) he choose to wait it out anywhere but in our vicinity. Even the female manager who did our table visit couldn't seem to fake her interest in our pleasure or displeasure. The highlight of the night was the visit by the chef (THE ONLY PERSON REMOTELY INTERESTED IN OUR SATISFACTION)."

  • "I was a patron on 4-11-14. Unbeknownst to me, My girlfriend called ahead and asked the restuarant to provide a surprise desert for me because it was my 50th birthday. She also reminded the hostess that we were celebrating my birthday. The hostess said they were really busy. the restuarant was maybe 50% full. It took quite a while for our drinks to arrive and we had to summon our waitress so we could request another round. Our food arrived promptly. The meal was great. We had another round of drinks and a surprise desert never was delivered. I am very dissapointed with the request not being fulfilled. I sasn't informed until later that evening that she had made the request ."

  • "This was my first time at La Sandia and I was very impressed with the venue. It has a festive atmosphere and the staff were pleasant and knowledgable of the food. They made sure we were taken care of and food was served hot. I really enjoyed my plate which is one of the signature plates. I can't wait to come back and bring a group!"

  • "Food, drinks, Water, Service Stale chips came late, after the water (which was not re-filled during our 90 minute visit). Requested second round of drinks was not delivered, not charged. Soup requested as first course was delivered after the meal delivery by special reminder. Food was soggy, overcooked, or bland. Wait staff hard to find, or gain attention to a failing service. Birthday celebration was memorable, but not for the right reasons."

  • "Arrived at La Sandia & they said we didn't have reservations. They said my reservations must be for another La Sandia. I did receive an email to review my experience there from last night at La Sandia at Lone Tree from Open Table so that confirms I did have the correct restaurant and did have reservations for 6 so not sure what the confusion was. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and I now I know why. We had to send 2 of our entrees back (shrimp enchiladas) because they were cold. It took 20 minutes to get them back again. The manager did comp us for the 2 entrees which was nice but I would never go back there again. We had a couple from out of town with us and I was embarrassed how bad the service & atmosphere there was."

  • "A frequent choice for us because the menu is 90% gluten free and we Love the food at La Sandia. My only complaint is that the noise level gets too Loud! It is hard to have a conversation. Can't wait until the patio opens and you can dine outside with a the incredible view of the Front Range. Nothing finer."

  • "The food was delicious i personally reccomend the steak fajitas and table side guacamole. The only set back was it was a little cold in the restaurant but other than that the food was wonderful the prtion size on the fajitas was perfect the guacamole was a little small for the price but still awesome. the wait staff was fast and attentive without lingering at the table too long or rushing the entrees out before we had a chance to enjoy our guacamole. The kids menu was priced just right and my 4 year old daughter loved getting extra tortillas to wrap her chicken strips in the waiter made her day by doing that. I would reccomend this resaurant to everyone."

  • "I live in Monument. My bridesmaid of 54+ years ago iive in Denver. This is a wonderful restaurant for us because of the location and the food. The waiter was wonderful and helpful One of the women is on a walker and had just the right kind of assistants from both the waiter and the hostess. The food was beautifully prepared, with a nice presentation. I though that the prices were more than fair."
