Food was great. We had wanted to sit outside but it was raining, so we sat inside near the bar. It was so noisy that our party of four felt like we had to shout at each other to hear what we were saying.

  • Key Menu Item Cut!!!

We have always gone to La Sandia for their scrumptious huitlacoche soup, totally delicious beyond description. Then a few years back the huitlacoche was removed from the soup and it was just called something like "corn soup". Not as good but still delicious. When we went the other night, it was off the menu altogether! It was the one thing that really made us pick La Sandia over other Mexican/Southwest cuisine restaurants. We're happy to see that at least the corn soup has remained on the downtown Tamayo Restaurant (part of this organization). But with that item gone, we're likely to go to La Sandia very much any more. Fine food for the most part, and good to go to if you're in the neighborhood.

I made reservations through Open Table for six of us (including one child). The staff were friendly, our server was attentive and customer-centric, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was definitely on the loud (although fun) side - I had to strain to hear people across the table from me (and I'm not hard-of-hearing). The manager (Mike?) came over to introduce himself, and overall, we had a good dinner. The price was also reasonable - our bill was less than $75 for five adults and one child. I would absolutely return here!

La Sandia has a great location - perched high above everything else at Park Meadows. Great views from the patio in the summertime. Food is pretty good - definitely not memorable - but lots of great tequila choice.

If you don't want to battle to hear the conversation, ask to sit in the back of the restaurant. We were seated near the front windows in the bar area at a small 2 person table. Conversation required us to lean in to the center of our small table. Skip the table side guacamole. We ordered the medium level of spice and it was pretty bland. Additional salt helped but it needed more onion and some minced peppers. Steak tacos and lettuce wrap chicken tacos were very good. The side of smokey salsa with the steak tacos was perfect.

We love La Sandia. Its our go to Mexican restaurant in south Denver. We always take out of town guests. Originally from California, the food reminds me of the fresh Mexican restaurants out there. Not the smothered mess you usually get in Colorado. The margaritas are amazing, and the best around.

Very festive spot, but if you're looking for a place to converse, catch up and actually hear every word that your dining partner is saying, it's simply too noisy for that. However, this is the perfect venue for happy hour and/or a tasty dinner. I am hoping that the live bands on the open deck will come back during the summer months.

Had a reservation for 7:00 PM but had to wait 10 minutes for the staff to get a table ready. There were a number of open tables so not sure what the issue was here. The food was great but the service was just OK. We have been going here for a number of years and the restaurant has fallen off some in the last year or two.

We used to love this place but now thinking it is no longer worth the drive. Table side guac should mean true table side preparation. What they did is bring a bowl with the ingredients already in it and show it to us and then mix it. It wasn't mixed up enough and we had no opportunity to ask for more of a particular ingredient - which is the only reason why you would want table side prep in the first place. I don't think there was any lime in it - which is my fave ingredient. They weren't busy at all so this seemed like plain laziness, and I was disappointed. The beef tacos were inedible - the meat was very tough. On the good side the veggies quesadillas were as good as always. Not sure I will be back here.

La Sandia is generally good food and the service is always friendly, with the exception of the front desk girls (they need some work). Their guac is really tasty and so is their salsa! Their drinks are strong and quite good. The food is usually very good, however, this time the carne asada was not good at all (in fact the last 2 times it has been pretty bad), so I do not recommend getting that. But do try their tacos and enchiladas because those are quite tasty!

The service was very poor. We had to continually ask for items such as plates, silverware, water, etc. The food was not warm and the enchilada was sent back. The new enchilada was cold as well and not eaten. The server did not ask about the food when it was not eaten, just took the plate away. Very disappointing.

We love the food at La Sandia! With that said the service is very spotty. We have had great service here and not so great service. Of late, not so great. The last few times here it was like we were on an island that the servers could not get to or even see. Frustrating since we went on April 22nd, my birthday. I wish I could remember our server's name, I didn't pay so I don't have the receipt.

Service is surprisingly underwhelming for a restaurant in Park Meadows. The host was visibly disinterested in being there. The food is flavorful but the drinks take way too long. So long that I received my 2nd mojito long after the plates had been removed. The server mistakenly rang in steak fajitas instead of shrimp for one of our guest's (which can happen anywhere). Instead of any acknowledgement by the server (not even a cursory apology for the wait) he choose to wait it out anywhere but in our vicinity. Even the female manager who did our table visit couldn't seem to fake her interest in our pleasure or displeasure. The highlight of the night was the visit by the chef (THE ONLY PERSON REMOTELY INTERESTED IN OUR SATISFACTION).

I was a patron on 4-11-14. Unbeknownst to me, My girlfriend called ahead and asked the restuarant to provide a surprise desert for me because it was my 50th birthday. She also reminded the hostess that we were celebrating my birthday. The hostess said they were really busy. the restuarant was maybe 50% full. It took quite a while for our drinks to arrive and we had to summon our waitress so we could request another round. Our food arrived promptly. The meal was great. We had another round of drinks and a surprise desert never was delivered. I am very dissapointed with the request not being fulfilled. I sasn't informed until later that evening that she had made the request .

Arrived at La Sandia & they said we didn't have reservations. They said my reservations must be for another La Sandia. I did receive an email to review my experience there from last night at La Sandia at Lone Tree from Open Table so that confirms I did have the correct restaurant and did have reservations for 6 so not sure what the confusion was. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and I now I know why. We had to send 2 of our entrees back (shrimp enchiladas) because they were cold. It took 20 minutes to get them back again. The manager did comp us for the 2 entrees which was nice but I would never go back there again. We had a couple from out of town with us and I was embarrassed how bad the service & atmosphere there was.
