  • "We did the Chicharrón de Cerdo appetizer and it was lovely. The sweet potatoes in this appetizer were perfect. I think I may do the main course version of this in the future. I had the lamb as my main course and it was tasty. A friend had the Tacu Tacu de Mariscos and said it was great."

  • "The food and service were amazing! They took such great care of my family and ensured my dad's birthday meal was memorable. Lomo Saltado is delicious! We've celebrated two birthdays here and will be back."

  • "Clean, nice decor, and friendly staff. But sorry to say, we were underwhelmed by the lack of flavor. Ordered two dishes, and neither had much flavor. No, NOT heat, just flavor. The Loma Saltido, despite what others have written, was NOT Filet. Maybe Top Sirloin? Dish comes with plain rice, onions and tomato slices. Beef was cooked well. Portion size was decent, but overpriced for a simple dish using this cut of beef IMO. We also had a seafood/rice dish (sorry, forgot the name). Very small portion of seafood. By actual count: 2 clams, 4 medium shrimp (31-35's?), and about 5 or 6 small ringlets of squid. Rice was tasty, but was an overly large portion used as a plate filler. Again, overpriced for a mostly rice dish IMO."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised to find out that we had a Peruvian restaurant in Roseville. I read great reviews so we decided to try it out. We were greeted warmly by the host and we were seated promptly. I ordered the Lomo Saltado while my husband ordered the Seco con Frijoles. Both dishes were excellent! The beef on the Lomo Saltado was just right and the fries were the right amount of crisp. I also ordered the passion fruit pisco sour which was really good. We had an overall great experience and we will definitely come back. Highly recommended!"

  • "My mother-in-law found this restaurant in her local magazine and wanted to go there for her birthday. We loved it! The food was exquisite as well as the service. Excellent sangria too. Highly recommended."

  • "We had read good things about this restaurant and wanted to try it. The visit was very enjoyable, with good and different food. We had no idea what Peruvian food consisted of, so they educated us and fed us. And there was live music the evening we were there, a guitarist by the name of Hugo. A fine time was had by all with good food, wine, and music."

  • "It's too bad that La Huaca is not in my neighborhood or my wife and I would eat there frequently. But it is an hour away although that doesn't stop us from going occasionally. The last time was with friends and all six of us had a marvelous dining experience. From the initial welcome to the final goodbyes, we had a great time. The Octupus appetizer was in a subtle and rich sauce, the causas as good as always, all the entrees were enjoyed by all and my duck was excellent. Shared appetizers, shared entrees, shared desserts, six of us had a marvelous time eating and drinking very nice Peruvian wine, reds and whites. We will be back just not as often as we would like but if you live in their neighborhood, don't miss La Huaca"

  • "First time visiting this restaurant and it was overall a great experience. We were celebrating my Mother's 77th birthday and the hostess put a lovely centerpiece on the table complete with confetti and a balloon; nice touch. Food was wonderful, hot deliciously seasoned and huge portions. Service was attentive until the end of the meal when they seemed to forget we were there. To be honest though the disappointing part of the experience was being seated next to a family with 4 rowdy, screaming children. There were plenty of empty tables when we arrived and we were a group of older adults. It made conversation a little difficult but I guess that is the fault of parents who ignored the children's behavior. Will definitely go again though."

  • "I took my wife to La Huaca for our first Valentine's Day being married. The restaurant has a very romantic atmosphere. I put in my reservation that it was our firs V/day and asked if they could do something special. After we were seated, the hostess brought my wife a rose. The food was very good. I got the lamb which was delicious. My wife got the tres carnes. While it was good it was just too much meat for her. Peruvian food is apparently heavy on the meat side of things. Overall it was a good experience and good food. I recommend trying it."

  • "I had heard many good things about this place but I was not impressed. Service very slow and inconsistent, had to keep asking for things. Food was ok, good size portions but did not live up to the impressive menu descriptions. My fish dish tasted much like Velveeta. Pulpo (octopus) appetizer also just ok. I was hoping for a better experience!"

  • "Roseville is a little short on independent restaurants, so to find one of this quality is welcome We have visited La Huaca on several occasions with groups ranging from 2 - 12, over a period of at least a year. The greeting is warm and gracious, the service is always pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable and the food is worth coming back for. The dishes are well prepared, pleasantly presented and flavorful. Of particular note is the Mixto Ceviche. The combination of fish, octopus, squid and shrimp works well, and the combination of both hominy and toasted corn kernels provides interest. We have had many of the entrees and none will disappoint. There are vegetarian options and many of the dishes can be prepared for vegetarians."

  • "Loved the food but our server spent more time chatting with other staff in one corner of the room than providing us with service such as plates for our appetizers."

  • "The food was good and so was the wine. I had a Peruvian Chardonnay it was mild which is my taste. It was busy and the service was slow. There is not a full bar only beer and wine. But all in all the presentation was good and the food was tasty."

  • "I remember when you had to go to Sacramento for anything more interesting than steak. Peruvian food is something new in the area, and there are several tasty things. This is the third time we have been; Valentine's Day is busy in any restaurant, and this one was no exception. We probably have had better experiences on the non-holiday evenings we have been here; service seemed a little stressed and the food wasn't quite as good as we remembered from before... but still, an enjoyable evening. The ceviche is excellent, and my favorite menu item."

  • "We ordered the prix fixe menu on Valentines day...the 3 course included an appetizer, a main dish, and desert with a mandatory 20% gratuity. Salad or soup would be better than appetizers as a course. One of the main courses was tenderloin and different colored small potatoes potatoes. Mashed potato appetizer, cold with avocados, not a fan. Tenderloin was very tender, other dish was fettuccine with seafood was nothing special. Sponge cake for desert which was so so, flan was very tiny flat cakes with one fruit minced on top. One thing we both really enjoyed was the bread served with a garlic and basil spread. Service was all very good until mid meal. Pricey for the quality of the food and amount."

  • "La Huaca has a lot of potential, but would greatly benefit from some refinement. The fish used for the ceviches is wonderfully fresh, but cut into too large chunks. The same applies to the fried yucca and fish."

  • "We went for a late seating yo get 1000 points, plus we had a coupon... Were expecting sort of a hole in the wall ethnic restaurant. We were surprised to find such a stylish little restaurant that really worked hard to overcome its strip mall origins. Nice wine list, excellent service by people who really seemed to take pride in what they did. We found the appetizers more interesting than the entrees; next time we'll stick to those. There will definitely be a next time."

  • "This was our first visit. it was our anniversary. the staff was professional and courteous. I have never had Peruvian food so I asked the waiter for his recommendations which he was happy to do. The food was delicious and the portions were larger than what you might see in some restaraunts. the prices were reasonable, a nice atmosphere. Definitely will return."

  • "This was our second time and we wanted to try some thing different (had causas the first time). The menu states other dishes can be made vegetarian but the server stated they are limited. Ordered an Amazonian salad to start and they didn't have the cheese for it. Both my husband and I had the causas again, which by the way, are excellent. However, would prefer to have other options as well. Will return when we are in the mood for causas but will not go there on a regular basis due to limited menu items."

  • "The only reason i picked eating here was becasue Open Table suggested it being close to Rancho Cordova. The restaurant is in a strip mall and i was asked by a client to choose a restaurant so i was a little scared at first. that all went away when we opened the door and heard the pleasant south american music and was warmly greeted. The food was not spicy but spiced very well and full of flavor. The service was fine but not extraordinary. I have recoomended the restaurant to three people already and i just ate there a couple of nights ago."

  • "Our server was very helpful and explained the dishes in detail. The Clasico ceviche, made with mahi-mahi was great. The entrees, grilled salmon and leg of lamb, were cooked beautifully. The "sides" for each dish are unique and tasty (quinoa, vegetables, etc.) The watiress allowed a small taste of two Peruvian wines; both were good, the Sauvignon Blanc and the Tannat."

  • "We took a chance on a new, different restaurant for our 55th anniversary. The food was excellent and the service could not have been better; a real gem and only 1 1/2 miles from home! This will become a favorite for us and our guests;"
