Diner Reviews
  • "Me and my husband took our visiting friends here - so great! Very authentic Italian, absolutely crazy good service, beautiful ambiance. Get the calamari! For the love of all that is holy... get the calamari."

  • "while the wait was long the atmosphere was vibrant and the food simple but delicious, after swearing to eat only half of a large portion of perfect chicken marsala I found myself shocked at the one morsel of potato that remained on the plate!"

  • "Cute ambiance and nice server but that's about it. We went there because out of town friends had seen it on Kitchen Nightmares and were keen to check it out. Wish we could give it a thumbs up, but can't. Had linguine with clam sauce and it was flavorless, the clams huge and rubbery. There was not a stand out dish among us. It also took forever for us to get our meals. Definitely not worth the wait. There are so many great places in the North End but Galleria 33 is not one of them."

  • "As usual, we had a wonderful dining experience at La Galleria 33. We started off with the calamari -- the best we've ever had. We got lasagna and chicken, broccoli, pasta for our entrees - both were delicious. We are already planning our next trip into La Galleria 33."

  • "I was entertaining a group of 9 work colleagues from across the country and selected La Galleria 33 based on other positive Open Table reviews. When we arrived a long table was set for us. We requested a round table to enjoy better conversation and the team set us up quickly. The evening was perfect, with great, friendly service and, with everyone selecting a different meal, all meals were hits."

  • "This was my 2nd time at LaGalleria33. The 1st time was good. This time, the service wasn't. We asked for bread and it took so long it came after the appetizer. She asked if we wanted more soda and we said yes but she never said that they didn't offer free refills. If I had known, I wouldn't have let her take my glass when it was still half full. When I ordered the eggplant parmiganna, she said it came with pasta. But when the food arrived, it came without the pasta and I just decided not to bother and started eating. Then the pasta came when I was half finished. It was just ziti in plain tomato sauce with no seasoning and it didn't go with the main dish. The rest of the food was great but I probably won't be back."

  • "This was our first time dining at this restaurant. We were seated promptly for our reservation even though one of the couples had not arrrived. The restaurant was full but we were not pressured about the couple who ended up being a half hour late. The antipasto was excellent. The prices are moderate and a very good value. The food was very good. Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. We will definitely return!"

  • "Everything was fine, food, service, ambience. Just nothing special or remarkable about the food. Just good middle of the road Italian."

  • "Food was good and a quite reasonable price. I had a reservation for four and was seated immediately even though the other three members of my party hadn't arrived yet. Would go back."

  • "Dined here last Sat night - had a group of 4. I chose this restaurant hoping that it would be a little less noisy and packed in as many North End restaurants are, and thankfully, that was what we found. The two men in our group are hard of hearing, and when there is a lot of background noise, dinner conversation is impossible. Dining here was a very comfortable, enjoyable experience. 3 of us had the seafood risotto special - outstanding! The chicken parm was OK, a little heavy on the cheese, but that is a personal taste. The caesar salads were fresh and perfectly dressed. The pasta fagiole soup was a meal in itself. Service was relaxed, we didn't feel rushed to turn the table over. Overall great experience, we will be back."

  • "This is our favorite spot in the north end. Always take guests here when people come to visit"

  • "Open Table and Yelp guide me to selecting this wonderful spot. My wife and I met our son and his girlfriend here during a business trip to Boston. The food and the atmosphere were terrific. The waiter, Patrick, did a terrific job guiding us to make the proper selections. It was a great value for the price. La Galleria 33 is on Salem Street. This is not on the main North End thoroughfare. This helped to remove some of the hubbub. We will certainly return. "

  • "Great find! Very small and intimate restaurant with fabulous and attentive wait staff and the food was outstanding. No rushing here...you can relax and enjoy a great meal at a leisurely pace with your friends. Highly recommend this little efficient restaurant."

  • "We arrived early for our dinner reservation (1hour) and we were a group of 12. They were quick to accomodate us and everything was perfect. The waiter "Matt" was knowlegable and helpful, the hostess and manager? were wonderful and pleasant. The food was amazing, bill not nearly as much as I had budgeted for and everyone was happy.... THANK YOU.... Highly recommended.."

  • "Group of 15 family members on Saturday night to celebrate a college graduation. Everyone loved the food and wine, the service turned out good after a sluggish start (last-minute waiter change seemed to throw off the arrival of menus, settings, bread). Very friendly and helpful staff and management!"

  • "Had a great dinner here. Mussels were excellent. Seafood ravioli was great, although not very seafoody. Veal paradiso was indulgent."

  • "I came here with a group of friends and some thought the food was good. I, along with a fellow diner, felt that the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special. The tiramisu though, sooo good! I should just come back for that."

  • "Our waitress was very attentive, friendly, and pleasant. She made the evening experience wonderful. I was in search of cannelloni and found it here! The veal spinach dish was well prepared. Personally, I would have preferred a lighter pasta, but overall it was very good."

  • "Everything was great until it was time to pay. The waitress charged us twice our balance then questioned the tip she recieved. "

  • "I asked the waitress about a pasta item on the menu and she didn't elaborate or explain the dish to me, she just answered "yes" to my question. When the dish arrived to my table it was not what she said it would be. She then asked how everything was, I told her it was not what I had expected and she snapped back, telling me she had explained it and basically putting the blame on me. SO unprofessional. Her lack of knowledge about itallian cuisine and her rude, inappropriate remarks have made this restaurant one I will never return to. "

  • "Love this place...I've been coming here since before Chef Ramsay showed up. I think he made awesome improvements but it's always been my favorite. Lack of liquor license and/or bar is a little challenging but I believe they have plans in the works. Service staff is good - there are a few who are a little rude but the food makes up for it."

  • "If you are looking for great traditional Italian food in an energetic exciting setting, this is the place! Our server was friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and good quality, and even though they were turning people away who did not have reservations, they did not rush us out at all and offered us dessert even though we did not have any. You can't really go wrong here!"

  • "Great food reasonably priced, modern decor, open kitchen. Service was quick without giving patrons the impression of being pushed out the door. Small plate options are great for those who like to sample more than one item on the menu. Reservation recommended especially on weekends. "

  • "We were a party of five, and were given a nice table in the front, near the windows. Two of the diners are hearing-impaired, and it was a pleasure to dine at an establishment where we could actually carry on a conversation. Our server was extremely knowledgeable, recommending nice wines, as well as describing entrees in detail for us. The food was very good, and reasonably priced. We will definitely return!"

  • "A good place for business dinners, as we could hear each other, but food was unimaginative. "

  • "We recently had lunch at La Galleria 33. It was Easter Sunday and the day before the Boston Marathon. The waitstaff was attentive and our food arrived promptly. We ordered a variety of dishes from salads to mussels to pastas. All of the food was well presented and delicious. "

  • "I arranged the dinner reservations for 14 people and the staff and owners were incredibly accomadating. It was the Boston marathon weekend so they were very busy, but the staff and the good were exceptional. Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning. "

  • "We were greeted at the door with a smile and seated promptly for our reservation. The server was nice, our main courses were delicious (we shared the asparagus & black truffle risotto and eggplant parmigiana) and my Caprese Salad was divine. I do have a few complaints. The tables were crowded and too close, we had to ask for bread, when we ordered a bottle of wine the server did not let us taste it before pouring a glass and the caesar salad was poorly dressed with grated parmesan! Overall we weren't "Wowed", it didn't pull us in and make us come back but we would give it another chance."

  • "Everything was pretty average here. One thing that did stick out was the noise level, but there was large party next to us which definitely contributed. Food was good, enjoyed the menu idea of small plates so you can try multiple things and courses. We got the shrimp scampi as an app and gnocchi and chicken boba bocca for entrees. Pasta was fresh and chicken was flavored well. Just nothing wow about the good or service."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "excellent food. not crowded on Sundays so noise level not an issue for us (which it seems as if it might be when more crowded)."

  • "The food was fantastic - fresh ingredients, cooked to order. Our table ordered linguine & meatballs, veal marsala and pork chops - all of it very good. Antipasto was good but pretty basic - salami, olives, tomato & mozzarella etc. The service was the week spot here - it wasn't terrible but it should have been more attentive. The waitress was looking for us to order right after we sat down & after I said that we were going to start with the antipasto, she was back in 3 minutes asking if we were ready to order entrees. Too bad she wasn't this attentive when our drinks were out later during our meal. However, overall the restaurant was good & the server wasn't rude but rather maybe needs some more training."

  • "Went to Galleria 33 for the first time after reading about it on a blog. I was looking for a North End restaurant that had gluten free options. My wife got a risotto dish (not GF) and thought it was great. We split an antipasto which was very good as well. My dinner- a veal dish (sorry can't remember the name but it was the owners signature dish) which was prepared GF was perhaps the best meal I have ever eaten. Perfection!! Service was good, ambience good. Would definitely recommend!"

  • "This is not the typical North End experience. The food was nothing special...every sauce my group ordered tasted store bought. Furthermore, it took almost an hour from the time we ordered to have our food delivered. They later claimed the kitchen was backed up with a large party, but no one communicated this to us (or bothered to fill up our water glasses) while we waited....very dissappinting."

  • "The restaurant had the white table cloth, non clutered ambiance. The food not so great. I ordered Lasagna, it tasted great but there was seven layers of pasta and no filling at all. My Hubby had the veal marsala, it was tough and kinda soupy. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. I think they need to be revisited by Gordon."

  • "Food was great. We were a party of three for an early Saturday dinner. Enjoyed the antipasto - meats, cheeses, caprese, baby greens with a balsamic dressing. When we finished, we decided to forego the dinner salads. Enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana, veal-stuffed canelloni, and the pork chop. Service was friendly and relaxed. Because of the open kitchen, it started to get a little "smoky" in the front dining area (where we were seated). Have visited the restaurant a few times now, and each experience has been a pleasant one."

  • "A friend was visiting from LA, and staying near by in local hotel. Was a great spot to walk to. We were sat right away for our 8:00 reservation, and overall great experience. Always enjoy trying something new and like the smaller gems best, this was one of them. Definitely would go back."

  • "A friend was visiting from Helsinki and for his birthday I took him to la galleria 33 for a north end experience. We started with shrimp scampi and crispy calamari, both were delicious. We then split 3 small plates, linguini with clams, lasagna, and gnocchi. All were amazing-- probably my favorite in the north end. Like everything else, the tiramisu was great."
