OUTSIDE DINING, GOOD FOOD, FUN RESTAURANT6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden gemThis was our 4th time at La Dolce Vita and it has always exceeded expectations. Right on Woodward and you'd never know it. Great patio dining and at night when the lights come on its very romantic. Service is great, take a sip of your water and next thing you know its full again, very unobtrusively. The food is wonderful as is the presentation.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial dining in DetroitAbeautiful evening with delicious food, attentive service made this a night to remember.I look forward to returning soon.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMInner City GemIf you're a Detroiter you have probably passed it a thousand times. On the East side of Woodward Avenue and across the street from Palmer Park, La Dolce Vita is relentlessly charming, with a choice of indoor or outdoor dining. The menu is smorgasbord of perfectly prepared, palate pleasing dishes and the waitstaff is attentive without being intrusive. You owe it to yourself to check this out.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this restaurantGreat food. Intimate and yet we mingled with the guests who were seated next to us which enriched our evening!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMfantastic, but watch out :/Incredible food and ambience, but their guys they have filling up your water all seemed to be high. They kept starting at me and my date very creepily or would approach the table and say nothing. Othet than that serious 10/10 fantastix everueverythingthing else.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden jewelThis was our first visit, brunch before the DSO. We will definitely go back, and have already recommended to friends.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMa real gemgreat food..very reasonalbe prices,, well prepared,,and eat outside in the summer there is a real delight!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTough to findTough to find but worth it! Everything was perfect and the party of six loved it.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Great Food, Great Service, Live Music, I will be going back.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFood Great, Music Too Loud!Food and service top notch as usual from the valet to the owner greeting you and seating you immediately at reservation time, we had no wait, however, seated in the front dining room next to the bar, it is very difficult to have a conversation or hear by the musician in the bar.
We appreciated the offer to turn the music down and the musician said he would but we noticed no difference even after a waiter also asked the musician to take it down a few notches a second time. It is so hard with restaurant acoustics to get the right balance, but when live music takes over the foreground then it detracts from the otherwise excellent experience!
Both of my other visits, I sat in the back room with the fireplace and it was HEAVNLY!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe high noise level thatThe high noise level that night soured an otherwise wonderful experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBlissLa Dolce Vita is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is consistently excellent and the ambiance is romantic. Brunch is a treat as well.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGorgeous little gem closeGorgeous little gem close to Ferndale's electric night scene, but a world away. Well curated pasta and Italian entrees on a great seasonal menu. The seafood and pasta dishes are flavourful and cooked just right. The tomato sauces are to be savoured. The Caprese salad was the best I have eaten this side of Toronto's Little Italy.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly Recommend LDVOur dinner experience was wonderful !! We're looking forward to attending brunch this summer as well as spending time on the patio on Tuesday nights :)4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality Food @ ServiceI've visited this restaurant on several occasions , and the food and service is always fantastic .4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI ordered from the DetroitI ordered from the Detroit Restaurant Week menu. I ordered the veal and it was a little burnt on the bottom but still good. The restaurant was very busy and I was glad to see that in the city of Detroit.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a wonderful experience.Had a wonderful experience. Not very obvious to find but definitely worth a try.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDine in or to Dine Out?I would say that the experience was nice. Would I attend here again, yes. If I had to choose between here and say Brizola, Coach Insignia, Iridescence or Cliff Bells, I wouldn't choose La Dolce Vita first. While my experience was decent, I did not care much for the valet-parking, because it wasn't necessary. I did end up paying for it, which if I can walk 10 feet and be at my car $5.00 just wasn't worth it. But the food was good. My wife and I enjoyed our evening. It would be a nice restaurant during summer, or fall nights to eat outside with friends and family. The servers where nice and timely. Good time!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAn almost hidden gem!A gem! Excellent food, good value. The staff is friendly and efficient. Great valet service. A winner!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOnce located, this is a wonderfulOnce located, this is a wonderful find. Food and service were excellent; wait staff is very attentive.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were welcomed by a veryWe were welcomed by a very friendly and accommodating maitre d'. We did order off of the "Restaurant Week" menu, even though we got some pressure from the waiter to order "off" the menu. He told us the Caprese salad was "OK", and that the things on the special menu were not on the regular menu (which wasn't true). The food was very good and the atmosphere was lively and fun. From where I sat (side dining room), place could use a little updating but I did not see the entire restaurant.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMCame for restaurant week;Came for restaurant week; early in evening so place was not busy yet. Husband's steak was well done when he specified medium rare. Steak was quickly replaced. Ravioli with lobster was great. Attentive service.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food!!! I plan to go back for brunch outside when, the weather is warmer.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe don't drink, so don't reallyWe don't drink, so don't really care about the wine list or bar scene; but, everything else was great. Even though outdoor dining is not open, it appeared that it would be a great experience.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time. EverythingWe had a great time. Everything was amazing! I was our first time eating there and we already plan on going back.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food but took foreverGreat Food but took forever to bring out, maybe because it was restaurant week?4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but noisyMy parents and I went for Detroit Restaurant Week. My father and I ordered the specials, and my Mom opted for the linguine with clams. The food was excellent, and so was the wait staff. Our only complaint was the live music was a bit too loud and we found ourselves shouting across the table to maintain conversation.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLDV! Love it!Jazz during Sunday brunch is a bit too loud if you want to talk with your dining companions, but somehow we manage to go back and do it all over again because the food and service are sooo good!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for Restaurant Week.Went for Restaurant Week. Will definitely go back.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent menu for DetroitExcellent menu for Detroit Restaurant Week; couldn't be more satisfied.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful menu options , ourWonderful menu options , our server recommended a great wine that I never hear of. The food was outstanding...We would come back again.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for a special occasion.Great food and ambience. Perfect for special occasions. Well balanced menu with twists on traditional Italian items. Truffle infused sauces particularly notable. Service attentive and not overly bearing.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCuriosity fed this hungry catThough I've never dined on the patio, it was what caught my eye. I call it, the hidden gem on Woodward because it's in a not so great neighborhood (as many of the best restaurants are in my opinion) and there is no entrance or much of a visual presence from the street. I, however, noticed the illuminated LDV and the string lights between buildings over patio area. Curiosity led me to a beautifully adorned Italian restaurant with live entertainment and a great bar. The Sinfonia di mare and the Filetto and Scampi were unbelievably delicious, along with prosecco and chianti. Mr. Jason Lawrence was very knowledgeable and introduced us to smoked salmon...and our host went through the pictures on the wall....a bit of history and a good meal!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food with AmbienceWe were a table of 4. Two of us arrived 15 minutes before hand. We were seated at a table near the bar. Lovely. Apparently there was a mix-up in seating, as two people at the bar were waiting for table we got. It happened a couple of times more. Two of our people had been seated elsewhere, so we found them, reunited and had a lovely dinner. Very nice mellow music by a talented musician. Dinner was superb, service very good. Valet excellent, and for a moment we felt the ambience... it was like a cafe in Rome or Sicily.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time for brunch. LovelyFirst time for brunch. Lovely meal and service. Quite the scene3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is in a typicalThis restaurant is in a typical Detroit neighborhood, 6 mile and Woodward. But don't let that deter you. A little hard to find, look for the LDV sign over the front gates. It is a gem. Great food, inspiring menu, friendly staff and live music. A cosmopolitan crowd comes here. Everyone from age 21 to 63 had a great time at this place. Can't wait to go back in the summer and experience the patio.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGood to go alone or with others!I was able to bring my boyfriend for brunch this time and he enjoyed it. Our food was great and like always the mimosas were awesome!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA fabulous place for Sunday brunch!La Dolce Vita lived up to my expectations as an ideal Sunday brunch venue. Frank, our server, was wonderful and attentive. The music was fabulous with a world class guitarist and percussionist who kept it lively and festive but not too loud. The music definitely added to the environment by creating a great mood within a vintage setting. There was enough variety on the menu to satisfy the group I was with, and the bottomless mimosas just kept on flowing. I think the banana french toast was the hit at the table although the crepes looked fabulous. Dessert included an authentic bumpy cake plus a cheese cake and cannoli to die for. I will certainly bring friends for future celebrations to this very special place in Detroit. Highly recommend!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to La Dolce Vita forWe went to La Dolce Vita for my husband's birthday dinner. I had purchased a deal on Groupon so we we just going to check it out. Turns out it was a perfect place to celebrate his birthday! The ambiance is great (I can't wait to go back in the summer!) as is the service-very professional. But you have to be on the lookout for it because it is not obvious from the outside, which adds to the charm. The food was very good!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a joy to visit an oldAlways a joy to visit an old friend. LDV has been here for years and still has charm and grace.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always La Dolce Vita isAs always La Dolce Vita is the true deal! Authentic Italian food!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
