  • "You will not regret coming to this amazing place. Usually places on the water with views can disappoint, but this place can hold its own with some of the best restaurants anywhere. You want the highest quality of food with creativity and something a little special, this is your place. Oh and the view is to die for but I promise you that will be secondary. Enjoy!"

  • "I have been traveling to the Moss Beach, CA area for over two years. I have driven by La Costanera on my way to and from Seal Cove Inn and SF State. It is the "happening" place. I have learned the SF way is to support local versus chain restaurants. However, I am not a foodie. I am very particular about the food I eat. A close friend and I have dinner once a week when we are both in town. The rule is - something local, something new. Our last dinner together before she heads out to Hawaii, and I head back home was at La Costanera. I went in with the attitude, "I am going to take one for the team". I did not expect to love the food. The wait staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about every detail of the food! Amazing.."

  • "The food were very good. Very nice ocean view, especially in the sunset. Parking lots were not big enough for all the guests. I had to parked across the street and ran across the Highway to get to the restaurant, kind of dangerous."

  • "I was first introduced to La Costanera while attending a friend's birthday party there. It was so much fun! I knew I had to take my husband there, but it is out of the way so it took a while for me to get him over there. (We live in Mountain View) It was 'date night' and he was absolutely delighted by the "hidden gem" I had found in La Costanera. The food is fantastic. The view is gorgeous. The service is spot on. Who could ask for more?"

  • "Wow what fantastic restaurant. My two sons and I took my wife for dinner this past Saturday. Boy were we surprised. Every single dish was outstanding and better than the previous one. We ordered 6 small plates each one different and unique. Presentation was spot on, sauces were flavorful, colorful and spiced to perfection. In fact we had to reorder beard 4 times to insure that every plate left our table sauce free. Entrees were delicious. Cocktails innovative and tasty. Churros for desert simply demonic. We are already planning our next visit."

  • "Wife and I love this spot. Last visit our server was great.. very helpful and friendly. I can't say enough about the food.... so good!"

  • "La Costanera had it all! Great food, excellent service, and fantastic ocean views. We started with the spicy caesar salad, which had a unique sauce (delicious!) and some of the tastiest and lightest croutons I've ever tasted. The Calamari Relleño filling was good, but the calamari was a bit tough. The Camarones al Curry small dish was my favorite, along with the Costillitas spare ribs. The large plates were excellent, though we were a little disappointed that Lomo Saltadoused traditional fries instead of something more uniquely Peruvian, however the meat was very tender and flavorful. The drinks (Pisco Sour) were good, and the wine selection was also fun. Our wait person was very helpful, and willing to accommodate. And the view!!"

  • "I know the Michelin star was taken away but Omg I didn't think it would've been this bad. Everything starting from the hostess when we first arrived to our waitress and finally the food. Overall it was a bit disappointing and that's an understatement."

  • "This is out favorite "local" spot and I almost hesitate to advertise it because it's so popular as it is. The food is always delicious and beautifully presented. The drink selection (with and without alcohol) is outstanding. Don't get me started on the view :) We go regularly and have yet to be remotely disappointed. It's a bit pricey but worth it."

  • "Excellent food. Delicious churros. The pisco sours alone are worth the drive. The view at sunset makes it the closest one comes to a religious experience in this part of the world."

  • "Awesome views, went before the sun set so the glare made it difficult to look at the person sitting on that side. Decor is nice as is the ambiance, well for part of the night. A drunk lady came up from the bar & the hostess sat her. She got up & started cussing at employees in the dining room. They escorted her out, but she got back in. Quite a scene, & the manager was unable to handle/control the situation. The sheriff arrived & took her away. The menu is extensive, but settled on the chicken paella. Did someone forget the seasoning? Super bland and the chicken was oozing blood. Notified our server, the owner came over and insisted it was cooked. Never apologized & was incredibly rude. He isn't a pleasant person. Won't be going back."

  • "I really love this restaurant. The food is superb, every dish seasoned uniquely but always tastefully. I have never been disappointed. the service the three time I have been here is great in that the servers are attentive, helpful, and joyful. The only challenge for me is that it is busy and noisy. That is not usually my style so I have learned to come on the early side before the crowds hit. Too bad because I'd love to catch the sunset from the fantastic view, but so be it. better no sunset and a little more quiet."

  • "A few of us Alpha Phi sisters had a reunion weekend and went here for the view and great view on our last night. Costanera never disapoints, from the friendly and fun bar tenders to great food choices and of course the wonderful view! This was the second time to La Costanera and both times I have seen sealife! The first time a whale and this time a bunch of cute dolphins jumping and wrestling in the water. It was a perfect ending to the weekend with my girlfriends whom have never been to the SF Bay area before. Thanks for a great time!!"

  • "Very high quality food, lovely views. Wonderful if it is nice and you can eat outdoors. Upstairs is supposed to be nicer but the tables don't face the ocean so I like the outside best. Scallops and lamb are very, very good with a unique rub and flavor. The Peruvian curry has complex flavors but could be a little spicier and needed a spoon to eat the rest of the sauce. The pisco sour had which I asked not to be sweet tasted perfect but had too much foam so seemed like it was small for the price."

  • "The food is delightful! Most things on the menu are to die for, the reason I gave it three stars is because how we were treated by the hostess. We were late for our reservation by 10 mins and called in to inform about the delay, we were told not to worry as they had a nice table for my wife and I, next to the scenic views. When we arrived there, they were preparing our table and some else walks in with a later reservation and they gave them our table. In a nutshell, the hostess(s) need to be trained, we did voice our disappointment with Al and he moved us to another table when it became available."

  • "I took my husband here for his birthday dinner. We were seated with a beautiful view of the ocean. Our server was helpful and friendly and made an excellent wine recommendation. The food was all presented beautifully and I especially liked the crusted prawns small plate. The table next to us ordered the seared scallops and they looked delicious too. Everything we ordered was good. I had the lobster paella which was not served in an individual pan as in most Spanish restaurants so that was a little disappointing since I love those crispy edges in a paella pan but the flavors were good and the dish was plentiful. We would go again and I would like to try some other items on the menu."

  • "We have been to this place and enjoyed food and drinks in a great ambience. This time around the experience was chaotic. Many waiters running around with no plan. Our table had pike of dishes that never got bussed. My daughter's dish came after everyone else had eaten. The food was ok, not es it had been. Too many tables are stuffed into the dining room, making the experience much less pleasant."

  • "Loved this restaurant. Peruvian food menu The sauce on the sea bass was a little hotter than I like but the fish and crunchy veggies were great. The churros for dessert were the best ever with chocolate filling and caramel dipping sauce. Very attentive service. Just wish mother nature had cooperated so we could see the sunset over the ocean but she gave us fog. Parking can be difficult since this is a very popular place but worth the trip."

  • "All in all, you can't beat the view! But on top of that, the food was delicious, great spice combinations - and our waiter was on top of it all! We had a great evening - but we did get there early (5:00) - it fills up fast - so definitely make reservations."

  • "Great presentation of food. A little too spicy for me but it was my husbands birthday and he loved it. Will definitely be returning. The dressing on Caesar salad could be toned down a bit as far as spices go. Small plates were my favorite except for the yellow sauce. My husband had the sea bass and it was delicious. Great drinks!! Peruvian Brandy my favorite."

  • "We really enjoyed the small plate selection we had. Service was good even through there were four large groups there that evening. The only complaint I had was that the steel chair I was sitting on got rather uncomfortable after awhile so we skipped having coffee or a dessert."

  • "Very fresh seafood set in Peruvian flavors are available with a great view of the Pacific. An inviting space, great cocktails and delicious food combine to make this an almost perfect place. Service was spotty, however, and disappointing."

  • "Had dinner here as a late Father's Day meal. Service was great and ambience was really nice - so different from the Charthouse which was originally there. As other reviewers have mentioned, the noise is really loud. It's hard to have a conversation in a normal toned voice. My mom ordered the adobo which was a bit salty. Otherwise, my dad enjoyed his Cebiche Mixto and Seafood Paella. I had the Peruvian "fried rice" which was delish. Prices aren't that bad. Parking is awful. We had reservations at 6pm and got there around 5:40pm. Both parking lots (both small) were already full and the 3rd lot had 1 parking space which we took."

  • "Everything about this place is perfect. The menu, the presentation, the service, the cocktails, the flavors of everything.....wow! And the view and it is just silly over the top amazing. I love this place."

  • "We loved the food and the view. No matter where you sit in the restaurant you will have a view of the ocean. Go at sunset and you will be rewarded with an ever changing scenery. We went there to celebrate our anniversary and it was the perfect spot. Even if the setting hadn't been so perfect, I would go back just for the food, especially the Cebiche Chino. Each little dish was beautifully arranged and had its unique exquisite flavors. The only disappointment was that they didn't deliver on the two free glasses of wine we were promised when they found out why we were there. We noticed it after we had already paid! They offered us to go downstairs and have a couple drinks, but given that we had to drive home it was a bit too late."

  • "I was at a loss finding decent restaurants in this area -- such beautiful surroundings but quality dining options seem sparse. I happened to find La Costanera and it is on par with the best restaurants in SF. Amazing service, food and absolutely stunning ocean views."

  • "Celebrated Fathers Day here. Dad loved the steak stir fry and the tuna causa. We loved the yucca balls and the pulled pork. Pisco sours all around, tasty! Did not like the mushrooms, which had a sauce that tasted like ketchup and mustard mixed together. The view is spectacular. It is a bit noisy, and the miss-matched chairs, which seem to come from office surplus, can be a bit uncomfortable. Attire ranged form a man in full Scottish kilt regalia to gray sweatshirts. This is a great place to have a drink and order some small plates, which is what we will do went we next return."

  • "Scrumptious high-end Peruvian Cuisine in a chic yet casual beach atmosphere. Great for dates up top with a sunset view, or down below rolling in from the beach scene and looking for a cocktail, beer & tapas. Is at the old Chart House location just a bit north of Half Moon Bay, so basically the same layout with minor aesthetic changes but completely different menu & vibe. Fun wait staff and friendly owner / manager - no attitude at all - very welcoming. Indulge on the tapas side and top it off by splitting a entrée. Great steak & seafood tapas. More than enough for a meal. Espresso strong & deserts rich. Fresh mini milk chocolate filled churros will knock you into a diabetic coma. Great stuff."
