Diner Reviews
  • "Pricey but well worth it. Sunday brunch was excellent!"
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "This was admittedly an Easter brunch, but the food was average and so was the service. The place is simply not set up to do a buffet. The food was your standard buffet fare with nothing special. But the key was you still pay top dollar for. I would avoid this place like the plague on holidays. "

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our evening of pampering! The food was delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the little extra palate pleasers. Thank you for the lovely evening."

  • "The restaurant is beautiful, the food is spectacular, and the ambience is perfect."

  • "This is by far the most special setting I've ever seen. Each time I come to Utah, I make it my business to get there!"

  • "Great experience to have at least once. I won't be going there frequently because of the high cost but we had a very romantic anniversary dinner there and it was great. I was expecting a little more from the food but it was still good. Unique atmosphere. The peacocks were just as friendly as the staff. There happened to be a family with children sitting near and that was kind of unfortunate. I would leave the children at home to preserve the ambiance for other patrons. Also, remember your formal attire."

  • "My wife and I went here for the first time and could not be happier. The service was impeccable and the food excellent. I love the decor as well. My wife and I were extremely satisfied and would recommend this place to everyone."

  • "We had a small dinner to celebrate my daughter's engagement. The evening was absolutely perfect. The location, the views, the service, the food, the timing of the courses, the special attention that all the staff paid to my daughter - all were the best that they could have been. This is a 5 Star location and I cannot say more - except that Meg who waited on our table is World Class! What a wonderful experienced."

  • "La Caille is such a gem. Every detail is 5 stars. Will be back when we're in Utah. Thank you for the royal treatment."

  • "This place is amazingly beautiful! Just walking around the interior and the grounds is worth the trip. Food is Fantastic and the service impeccable. The banana's Foster was a special treat!"

  • "The service is outstanding, surpassed only by the atmosphere. Our food was exceptional! Everything was prepared and plated to perfection! La Caille is a rare treat for us and they deliver on the whole package of food, atmosphere and service! An A++ experience!"

  • "Ambience and food were top notch. Service was also exceptional, especially our waiter. He was quite friendly and very knowledgeable on recommendations for food. We always enjoy eating at La Caille. Music was almost a little too loud, but helped in not having to listen to conversations taking place at other tables around us."

  • "My wife and I attended La Caille's for Valentines day. It was our first trip here under new management and we were looking forward to the trip. Valet Parking was convenient (and they were not demanding a flat rate for it) and we were seated immediately for our reservation. The food was based on a prix fixe menu which we were well aware of in advance. Our appetizer and main course were both delicious, the salad and dessert were alright. Our waiter Tomas, was a very nice gentleman but he seemed a bit overwhelmed. Bread.. then butter were forgotten for the table, both our table and the one next to ours got brought salads on two different occasions. He tried very hard and was very kind, just needed a bit of help."

  • "Very romantic and warm experience. Fireplace was toasty; lamb and duck entrees were exquisite. Service was great. Well worth the long drive down the lane to the restaurant. Caviar made the dining experience special."

  • "The food and service were great. A little overpriced."

  • "This is not the La Caille of days gone by. Under new ownership the food finally lives up to the magnificence of the buildings and grounds. Hat's off to the new owners and culinary staff, we can now recommend La Caille as one of the finest destination restaurants in Salt Lake City!"

  • "The kitchen has struggled the last 3 visits to not serve cold food. The service has always been great though. The food, well way to pricey, even with the nice setting. Last brunch visit, $35 for select plates (several types of benedicts) but nothing on it warrants that price -- with only coffee OR juice... at that price it should be both. We found dinner to be just as expensive... too soups and two salads, $65, ouch. We ate at the Treeroom in Sundance and experienced a higher touch of service with a more reasonable price. Maybe that is why the restaurant is so empty all the time???"

  • "When making our reservation we noted that It was a special evening for us. The staff took great care to honor our request for a cozy table by the fire. The lounge is nice for cocktails before dinner. It is small, but comfortable. The menu is diverse with something offered for all tastes. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was delicious. Lobster bisque was a favorite of all those that ordered it. The beet salad was my personal favorite. Our party of 6 ordered a mix of entrees. Everyone was very happy with their dish. Served with good timing. Finishing with desserts that did not disappoint. From start to finish the staff was very professional and the food was delicious. A great place for a special occasion."

  • "La Caille is our go-to spot for our anniversary each year. The ambiance, the food, presentation, and the service never disappoint. The new chef is phenomenal. I think we'll actually make a second visit very soon."

  • "We went to SLC to see my son for some skiing and a belated holiday celebration. La Caille was the perfect place for our holiday dinner. Fabulous location; excellent service and the food was way better than expected, given some of the modest reviews. I have had the good fortune of dining in the some of the world's most famous places, and for special event La Caille is as good as any."

  • "On the menu I saw nothing appealing in the appetizers-just the usual tired French fare, nothing fresh or innovative. The bread basket arrived and the so called crackers were soggy and the bread was stale. We ended up splitting a salad. We'd told the waitress that we intended to split it. She brought the entire salad on one plate and to split it she brought a tiny plate and we were to do the division ourselves. It was supposed to have walnuts in it but the pieces were few and tiny. Salad was the highlight of the meal. I ordered the chicken. For $36 I expected something tasty and juicy. It was tough and overcooked and came with a little wet rice and 2 huge carrots...the savoy cabbage was good. The décor is special but we won't be going back."

  • "Talk about a FULL dining experience. We got there a bit early and was cordially met by the valet who graciously greeted us. We stepped into the quaint bar for a cocktail and met some fantastic folks visiting from 4 different states. At our designated reservation time we were then escorted to a lovely table upstairs in a most beautifully decorated dining room. It was warm, cozy and so majestically dream like. We ate slowly - tasting every morsel and enjoying every drop... Dinner service was just delightful and the Irish Coffee served FLAMBE table side was definitely a signature feature. Afterwards we took a brief stroll about the yard taking in the magical sights and sounds. it was four of the best hours dining ever! THANK YOU!"

  • "We hadn't been to La Caille in many years even though we live around the corner. Decided to give it another try since they have new owners and a new chef. The ambience was wonderful as always, but the food is still overpriced. I ordered two appetizers and a salad. The escargots were delicious and the Coquilles St. Jacques were tasty as well, but the portions were very small. We took our own wine, so I can't comment on the wine list. It's a nice spot for a special occasion, but expect to pay a lot for atmosphere."

  • "The gnochi portion that my son had was ridiculouly small and the size of an appetizer at best. The chicken that I had was lacking a sauce. The rack of lamb and the beef tenderloin (pricey at $56.00) were both excellent as was the bananas foster desert. Overall the food is not worth the price point but the setting is something remarkable."

  • "This is our 4th time at La Caille, and our 3rd Sunday Brunch. The food was amazing as usual. Valet excellent as expected. The service was great but it wasn't as outstanding as it was other times we have been here. It seems that they are understaffed on this day we went - 1/5/14."

  • "Very enjoyable celebration during our annual ski trip in Utah."
    Dined on 12/25/2013
  • "Very pricey, but great quality of food, all courses were excellent, my least favorite was the main course duck, but it was still very good. Would have liked choice of table by fireplace or window, instead of kind of in open corner. Service was quick, enjoyed our experience"

  • "If you want to make an impression on a first date take her or him to La Caille. You wil get great service with personal attention."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "My family was excited to visit La Caille for our Christmas Eve dinner as we've done in the past. The grounds and ambiance did not disappoint, still unique and amazing. The experience beyond that however, was night and day from the old La Caille. Waitresses were not breathtaking in their new modest attire and service lacked the attention to detail of the former restaurant. The menu was limited due to the holiday and the choices were traditional without the flare of the old La Caille. The meal itself was good, but not great as we had come to expect of the SLC gem. All in all, would not recommend for those who knew and loved the old La Caille."

    Dined on 12/25/2013
  • "La Caille used to be a place you could impress a date or business associate with just the ambiance and visual appeal; the food was good but not great, as was the service. My wife and I had a delightful dinner at La Caille; this is the second time for us since the restaurant has been under new ownership and the change is a welcome one. We both thought the food and service impeccable and we're putting it back on our list of 'must do's' for the holidays. Nicely done everyone."
    Dined on 12/25/2013
  • "Service started off fine, but our server got busy with other bigger tables before our entrees came. He didn't even check back to see whether our food was okay. My husband ordered the bouillbaisse based on his recommendation & was disappointed with it. Oh well."

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in SLC. The food is great, and reasonably priced. It has an excellent wine list. The staff is also the right mix of friendly, but professional service. Totally one must go if you are in the neighborhood."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "I wanted to take my wife for a romantic evening and it was great. Our first time and we will go back for special occasions. The grounds have so many things to see. The restaurant rooms have such good décor and themes. The food was wonderfully prepared."
    Dined on 12/23/2013
  • "They served the 1st course before the appetizer. The appetizer showed after we complained. The food was served on unwashed cheese boards. Flowers I ordered were not on the table until I asked for them. The card was not included but was given the card after we complained. I could go on but suffice to say it was the worst experience I have had in a long time."
